  1. As people on this forum have said for years, "Save your receipts, your owners manual, your window sticker, your original bill of sale, anything that documents the history of the car or makes it a little more special than the rest." as it will add to the luster when it comes time to sell. That all worked for the BaT seller. I don't have much from my Z other than the original bill of sale. But, for my Porsche 914-6, I have documents from the original, and subsequent, owners as well as an accordion folder full of restoration receipts. All good to have for the next owner. With the Avanti, I have a copy of the original factory production order as well as the six page final assembly line inspection checklist. Best of all, I have hand written letters from the designer, Raymond Loewy, noting the Avanti's VIN. Provenance should probably be spelled Provenan$e. Dennis
  2. Welcome to the group! Looks like you've got a good basis to build from and the start of a plan. You mentioned installing "some sort of gas gauge". Is your gauge missing, inop, inaccurate? Could just be the wiring to the fuel tank sender if inoperative. Tell us more and good luck with the project. Dennis
  3. Would the gyro feature impact turning from straight line driving or leaning into a corner at speed? Top speed? Would hitting a bump tumble the gyro? So many questions. Dennis
  4. Fortunately, I haven't fallen prey to the Timesponge Facebook, so the link above is like the tree that falls in the forest when no one is there. Dennis
  5. Trapezoid is the correct shape. The one I see on Ebay appears to have an AM/FM dial and the later style opening for the antenna control switch on the upper right. Early faceplates had a vertical rocker switch instead of the smaller horizontal switch opening as seen in the item shown. Dennis
  6. Here's a little background music to play while you're Hoovering. Dennis
  7. Mystery solved! I've been trying to adjust the outside mirror with mine since 1971. ? Dennis
  8. Listing deleted. Poof! Dennis
  9. Speaking on behalf of three friends who were killed in Viet Nam, I'm not amused. Dennis Deeds, Major, USAF Retired
  10. I think I spot the see-ment pond out yonder behind the Little Tykes used car lot. Dennis
  11. It's a slow day here, so how about we all join in for a second verse? Altos on the right, sopranos on the left. Well the first thing you know Jed's no longer a millionaire, Kinfolk said Jed burn that funky Zed and move away from here Said Californy is the place you ought to be So they loaded up the truck and moved to the Land of the Rust Free.. Zeds, that is. everywhere, no rust, no rot. Californy.
  12. I'm sure you've done a Google search for "eautostock reviews". Good reviews for many years on eautostock Traders if that's the same entity. The 10 day review period is interesting. Dennis
  13. Consider using adhesive backed Velcro strips on the cloth seat back and belt. Fairly easy to remove when not needed and the Velcro should hold the belt tight. Dennis
  14. Progress. You can either fight it or sit back and enjoy it. Big changes are coming in personal transportation, just as they did about 120 years ago when automobiles began to replace horses. I can imagine my great-great-grandfather Chapman, a Civil War veteran, saying something like, "Automobiles, they'll never catch on, who needs them? I'll keep my horses and when I need a new one, I'll breed one. You can't breed automobiles!" Fortunately, horses are still around to enjoy. Just like our manually operated and maintained Zs will be in 50-100 years. Like it or not, we're all going to live in the future. Dennis
  15. Because I know Conedodger likes Datsun Zs and Porsche 914s as much as I do, here's a racing picture that includes the two. The picture is part of a series by Michael Keyser who has listed automotive photographer among his other autosports interests and activities for quite some time. I have a batch of them on my office walls. Check them out at: https://www.autosportsltd.com/quick-list/ Dennis
  16. Good price for a useful tool. Looks to be more versatile than my Sawzall and a 50 foot extension cord. Dennis
  17. Summer has started in SoCal, too. It was 107º yesterday, 104º the day before. Time to crank on the AC in the garage, Dennis
  18. Always remember, Google is your friend. Do a google search for "CSI Panasport Wheels" and see the many pictures. Dennis, An Old timer
  19. And if you can find the Kanji for "Always check under the carpet for rust"........? Dennis
  20. Well, let us know how it all goes after they're installed. Certainly a very low price considering shipping was included. Dennis
  21. More importantly, what do YOU think? Let us know how easy to install, comfort level, support, adjustability, and build quality. They look interesting and the price is certainly less than the Recaros I bought on Ebay. Dennis
  22. Nissan got a lot of use from the picture of the red Z. I think this non-factory banner is based on a dealership brochure/hand out. To those with a better Hoover, please correct me if I'm in error. Dennis
  23. The cool thing about any exotic car with a manual transmission is that you eliminate a lot of younger car thieves who only know how to shift an automatic. All is good unless they bring a trailer. Dennis
  24. And, with the Z, you don't need a factory trained mechanic on retainer for most maintenance and repairs. Dennis
  25. It will be interesting to see if there's much of a drop off in car ads as a result. Dennis
