So now that our Z is almost finished, I thought I would finally join! My 19 year old son bought the car as a learning project that we could work on together with  his 17 year old brother and their friends. The project has taken almost 3 years now and we are always just one repair away from having it completed. We bought the '75 280Z  in Charlotte NC and it came with the original engine and a 5 speed. We imported it to the Netherlands where we live and started the restoration project. Now we almost have it on the road and are just working the kinks out of it. Latest problem has been a stumbling and missing when it starts warming up which has almost left me stranded. Still need to finish wet sanding and buffing the paint, then we can start enjoying the car. Oh wait, winter is almost here, so we will finish it just in time to park it for a few months!

I got an itch to acquire another Z last year...  This car on Bring-a-Trailer got my attention and I couldn't let it go.  A project car, the previous owner acquired most of the important rubber parts, a NOS dash, a bunch of spares, etc. and did very little to it other than keep it stored in his garage in the Denver CO area for over 25 years.  Prior to that, it was in Arizona.  So, having restored one Z which had a fair amount of rust, I was super excited to think about restoring one with next to none.  I've been at it for a little over a year now, and so I have a pretty good amount of the work done.  My hope is that within the next 12 months, I can complete the restoration.

So many Z's, of all numerologies, have popped up that I thought it might be good to collect them here.  Feel free to add old or new stuff.  There's a bunch out there right now, for some reason.

Jay Leno's Garage - V8 Convertible 240z

Hey,  just bought a 1977 Z that im waking from a long +15 year comma.  Looking for guidance as to what i should do and in what order. 
 

I bought this Z (1973 240z, white/red, build date 10/1972) in April from the original owner, and have been working on restoring. (Will post some interior pics soon, hopefully.)  As some of you know, like @Captain Obvious and others, the original flat tops were neglected and this car has been driven about 5K at most, in the last 20+ years.

I settled on the Paltech round top SU carbs.  They are beautiful.  In fact, I'll have to clean/polish/replace the rest of the engine compartment elements to keep them from looking crappy by comparison.

This award winning car is registered as a 1971 240Z; however, it's VIN is HLS30-08540, built in 8/70, making it a 1970 model year car.

Since the Nissan 370Z has been on sale for over ten years now, the wait for a new Nissan Z car to arrive is testing our patience. Nissan still hasn't officially announced plans to revive the Z car for a new generation, but our hype was recently rekindled when a report claimed the 370Z's replacement will be called the 400Z and be revealed within the next year.

I'm starting the restoration on my 280zx AE.  I have received some quotes on the process, and I have sticker shock.  May I ask what you spent.

Car54280zx, the restoration is absolutely fantastic, and has set the standard I will try to match.

As everyone was watching (what we thought to be) a record breaking classic Z record on BAT, a much more impressive number was made in Japan.

As far as I can tell, this is a new record for the sale of an early-series Datsun 240z.

New to the site. Just bought a 1977 280z. Its my second Z, but first S30 and I am ecstatic to get started. It seems pretty common place to introduce new projects here so I figured I would drop a note. 

Current Prognosis: Chassis is in good shape and car both starts and runs pretty well for its age, but definitely needs some dialing in. Going to keep it mostly original and focus on restoring its performance to 1977 spec.
