  1. What a great excuse for a really expensive Demolition Derby. BMW could get some of their money back by selling tickets to the event. Dennis
  2. Similar fate to the several thousand cars that were on the ship that rolled on its side a few weeks ago off the east coast of the US. Scratch & Dent sale in that instance. https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/09/us/overturned-cargo-ship-monday/index.html Dennis
  3. It doesn't make a difference to me, although others may feel differently. I would prefer it to be updated and if it kept the OEM exterior appearance, all the better. My '71 Z is currently a collection of OEM, installed at the factory in Japan, and replacement parts installed in five or six states. So, no worries. I can't imagine a "purist" pulling a radio and opening it to see if it had original circuitry. That kind of fanatic would probably also "sniff-check" the air in the original spare to see if it had been replaced. After dealing with Porsche cars and car shows for 40 years, I know there are Porsche owners and show judges who are probably that fanatical. But, I haven't run across the equivalent in the "Z" community. Dennis
  4. The mounting hardware, locks/latches, and key usually seem to be missing with 2nd hand louvers that show up for sale. Good luck with the hunt! Dennis
  5. Shows well and off to good start! Dennis
  6. Good luck if that's the one you want. Auctions are interesting as bidders get wound up in the process. So, if you get it for $10,000, add a pro paint job for $5,000, add transporting the car from PA $1,500, add 5% buyers fee on $10K for $500. Plus the unknowns. Too much fun! Dennis
  7. As he crossed the Finish Line and checked to make sure his Depends underwear was still working, he was heard to say, "I meant to do that." ? Dennis
  8. Getting closer. Check the sooty exhaust residue on the left side of the rear bumper. Running rich? Burning oil? Dennis
  9. Midwest salt belt car, sat for years, quite a bit of visible corrosion, Poor fit on hood - see trailing edge seam at cowl, needs new bumpers, needs tires, not sure why they refer to the exterior color as "Avacado", the car has been stored for 35 years which means the engine swap and repaint happened sort of early in its life. Appears to have been "rode hard and put away wet" as they say with neglected horses. I think I'd keep looking. Dennis
  10. Danger is just a slip of the Sharpie away. Stay alert! ? Dennis
  11. My guess would also be an A/C drain tube. Not a lot of fluids drain out of the Z - A/C or radiator overflow. Have you looked for a hole on the passenger side floorboard that could accommodate the hose? Dennis
  12. Seldom do you see a music video where a Byrd, a Beatle, a Heartbreaker, a Domino, a Buffalo Springfield, and a Nobel Prize winner get together to sing a song. Here's one of my favorites. Dennis
  13. The description on the ad says, "•ORIGINAL A/C CAR, ALL THE PARTS ARE INCLUDED " Translation: Original A/C no longer works so it was removed. Plan on spending $1,000+ for a new A/C system and another $1,000+ to have it installed and charged. Budget, or make offer, accordingly. That said, keep looking. Dennis
  14. Currently out of stock, but you can make contact to see when the lens will be available again if you haven't already checked. https://www.240zrubberparts.com/apps/webstore/products/show/4519997 Dennis
  15. Enjoy those swirling twirling autumn leaves, Cliff! We don't get them here in the desert. Dennis
  16. The ad says it all. Fast cars, loose women, cigarettes, and Playboy. I miss the 1970s. Maybe that's why I have a '71 Z and a '70 Porsche. ? Dennis
  17. Often, the original owners manual and service record book listing the original owner and record of dealer service are still in the glovebox when a car moves on to a new owner. If you didn't get those when you bought the car, you may be out of luck. Dennis
  18. That was almost as good as the video of paint drying. Perhaps a timeline summary would have been as effective. Dennis

Try ball point pen (Bic or other throw away "stick" pens) bodies with the refill removed - nice tube and can be cut to length as needed. Dennis
  20. Topped out at 119º today. More of the same tomorrow. I can't wait to see my electric bill this month. Dennis
  21. Currently, it's a balmy 117º F ( 47º C ) and climbing. If I can find a big enough box, it's your's. ? Dennis
  22. Don't call me Shirley! Sorry, I tried to resist. But it's hot here and I'm not making good decisions. Dennis
  23. Not sure of any differences in bushing replacement between your 8/70 Z and my 4/71 Z. (Great way to word the start of a piece of advice ?). I removed the center console (easy), the inner rubber shift boot, removed the shirt lever, and replaced bushings that are available at your local Datsun/Nissan dealer. Easy job. Dennis
  24. If this was your listing, nice looking Z. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-datsun-240z-95/ That said, I'm sure that the cracked dash, and other modifications, including later model engine swap, kept the bidding lower by those looking for a bone stock Z like the $100K example. That's the luck of draw with the auction process. Dennis
  25. Jason240z is from the UK and speaks English English. Allow me to interpret what he meant by: who are "the datsun garage" ( Translation to American English: Who are you? ). You're an unknown entity on this site, your website is intentionally devoid of phone and physical address information, so one has to wonder if your business is legitimate, a "drop ship" vendor, or a scam. what would a set of 14x6.5 be? ( Translation to American English: What is the cost of a set of 4 wheels size 14" X 6.5"? ) Glad to be of help. Dennis
