  1. Yup. Signed in 10/15/14, last visited 10/21/14. I sense a lack of commitment. Dennis
  2. A trip down Memory Lane. I attended an aircraft safety school course at Lowry about 1976. Spent a little time around B52s as an aircraft maintenance officer at March AFB in California and K.I. Sawyer in the UP of Michigan. Hard to believe the B52 has been around since 1955 and the planes are now older than the people flying in them. Thanks for the time trip! Dennis
  3. Just more proof that idle hands are the Devil's workshop. Dennis
  4. Not sure if this program cover has been posted previously. If it hasn't been - Enjoy! If it has been - Here it is again! A Porsche friend sent it to me because of the 914 pictured, not realizing I also have a Z. Dennis
  5. I jest not. (And don't call me Surely) I know of one manufacturer that kept computer data of dealer new car sales, so it was probably common in the industry at the "mothership" level. The instance I'm aware of was a computerized list compiled by Porsche to indicate the sale of every Porsche 914-6 sold in North America. The computer generated listing indicates car VIN, sale date, and name/location of dealership beginning with the 1970 model year. A friend who worked for Porsche at the dealership and corporate levels for many years has a copy and provides data to 914-6 owners upon request. Dennis
  6. Not much kept on computers at dealerships during our Z's production era. Generally, paper records only and they get tossed when the file reaches critical mass or the dealership closes or moves to a new location. Dennis
  7. I think it ends the same way "___....for tat" begins. ? Dennis
  8. Nice! How's the fit on the headlight nacelles? Dennis
  9. Yes, that's right. But, there's an 11,000 foot mountain about a block from my house that will keep most of that rain out of the desert. We're heading to our place in the mountains tomorrow, so will probably be shoveling some snow. Looks like the Polar Vortex is winding down and Chicago will have temps in the +50º range in a couple days. Crazy weather! Stay warm & dry. Dennis
  10. Makes me appreciate that I'm sitting in my backyard, next to the pool, web surfing on my iPad. I paid my "dues" living through 22 northern Wisconsin winters. Stay warm, Dennis
  11. Has anyone checked their antifreeze cold weather protection level lately? When I lived in Northern Wisconsin, it was an annual fall ritual. Seeing -70º wind chill temperatures in the midwest this morning reminded me of the "good old days" of getting up in the middle of the night to start the car and let it run for a while to assure it would start in the morning. Stay warm! Dennis
  12. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, Cliff. Time for a trip to the eye doc. ? Dennis
  13. Since they exist, they must have been made in quantity to justify production. Where did they all go if they're not on our cars? Were they used on ther Nissan. Models? Is there a warehouse full of them somewhereits? Dennis
  14. There's a '71 finishing up on BaT today, currently at $25K with a few hours to go. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-datsun-240z-70/?utm_source=dailymail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2019-01-23 Dennis
  15. There's a somewhat modified 1970 Z with a 2.0 motor and 5 speed ending soon on BaT. Currently at $8,500 with no reserve. Dennis
  16. Seller pays $99 to list a car and the buyer is charged 5% of the winning bid with a $5,000 maximum payment. Dennis
  17. Probably a little more alcohol flowing at a Barrett Jackson auction than with a BaT auction. That can loosen up the bidding/judgement restraint. A friend of mine sold his Porsche 912 on BaT a few weeks ago and did surprising well. The final bid far exceeded his expectations and the car is now on its way to Europe. Dennis

If it's the storm that blew through California in the last couple days, get the snow shovels out. It dropped over four feet of snow in the northern ski areas and a couple feet in the local southern mountain resorts. Good luck! Dennis
  19. What is this Photoshop you speak of? Is it like the little building in the mall parking lot where I drop off my 35mm Ektachrome to be developed...Fotomat? Or is it a place to buy cameras, film, lenses? Dennis
  20. Is that a newer Prius, not 20 years old, in one of the pictures? Enlarge the photo of the rear license plate and read the year on the sticker in the top right corner. I think the green ones were fairly recent. Dennis
  21. I believe the Honest John site noted above reporting 234 240Zs registered refers to 240Zs in the UK, not the US. Dennis
  22. Price details? Attachment details and close up pictures....not that I don't like the blue masking tape attachment method in the pictures Dennis
  23. What search terms are you using? If the car has been in a locked trailer for 20 years, it's unlikely that Grandma had a website or a blog at the end of the last century unless, in addition to being truck driver, she was also a techie. Dennis
  24. No family members who remember anything about "Grandma's" car? Who holds the title? Who has the keys? Dennis
