  1. They look really shiny and smooth! If you're not sure which way to go, you can have them vinyl wrapped in whatever color and finish you want to try (like satin black) and if you don't like it after a while you can simply remove the wrap with no damage whatsoever on your pretty chrome. 2. My first and last electric contraption, I hope.
  3. Here are pics of them side by side. 280 box is obviously wider (larger booster), yes two holes under the dash at the front vs 4. 280 box is also deeper from fire wall to dash mount. The two tabs that stick out the side look about the same.
  4. Jeff The shiny bumpers look so nice!
  5. $2.94 for regular in Northern Florida. All the gas stations in my little town were empty, too. Ended up risking a 20ish minute drive out of town to fill up - got gas, but it was not cheap. Apparently people are buying up gas like it's about to vanish because the pipeline got cancelled. It's like the toilet paper crisis all over again! I thought people learned!
  6. You will not mess it up. In fact your risk of having issues will be much higher with the head removed. I totally get the logic but for now, if I was in your shoes and knowing that only cyl 4 is fouling, I would just focus on that one. You know the others are good as there is no fouling on the other plugs. Follow the procedure given further up in the thread on doing it with the head on.
  7. It's been $50 plus to fill up my '94 Nissan pickup 2.4L forever it seems. Cant imagine what it's like to have a V8.

I wasn't a ramen guy - I ate hot dogs for lunch at least 3x a week through college.
  9. Big ooof. $4.30 in California. everyone get electric cars and save the gas for the enthusiasts. 🙂 hopefully the donut shops are still getting customers.
  10. Another thing I'm not sure has been mentioned is our straight 6 L motors are pretty much identical to the older Mercedes and BMW six cylinder motors. Surely there's more mechanics besides the Porsche one you've used in the past. As the L motors were used in north America from 1970 to 1984 there has to be a mechanic in Panama that is familiar with the motor.
  11. The block in his post appears to be done. Already at .030" over. eBay is probably the most likely place to find them, or that Facebook store/market thing. Never tried the Facebook, but people seem to like it. Gotta be some NOS stuff out there somewhere. Weird that manufacturing is so far behind. Hope it comes back. Not a good sign that everyone is out of stock, of almost everything.
  12. I might have what you are looking for: "NPR of America" piston kit (10-) Made in Japan, #12010-P/912 STD I bought a shed full of Z parts a few years ago and these were in it. I'll take some photographs today and post them.

Yum, I use to live on that stuff in College.
  14. 280ZX pistons are what you are looking for. That would be an F54 block, but the block doesn't really matter. Might help your search. The 280ZX F54 block used a different head with a bigger combustion chamber so flat tops were used instead of dished. But the crankshaft and block dimensions are the same. Looks like Zcardepot knows where to find some. Or not. Good luck. https://zcardepot.com/products/piston-set-flat-top-l28-280zx-81-83
  15. Well i have bought myself quite the project. Should be fun though. I have picked up an early sunshine yellow 1971 240z HLS30-07119. It has seen better days. Someone partially started some rust repair and failed miserably. I will get some better pictures once i move it to the shop. The Red 73 came with it. I have the supposed number matching engine/tyranny plus two l28 engines and transmission. Current goal to to build a frame jig for the car. This way i can go about cutting up most of the car and i don't have to worry. Long term I would like to build my stylized version of a 432r but, that can always change. Also, what do you think about the car being registered as a 71 with such a low vin number? Maybe it was delayed? It even has the "cruise control".
  16. Here's a picture of my former car #7184, which is now in the Boston area. When I had the car it was red and had an L28 with twin Webers. However, I had the car's original matching numbers engine short block. The new owner is restoring the car back to its original 920 Safari Gold and he was kind enough to send me this picture of his paint guy spraying the car. The car's original matching-numbers short block was carefully placed in the rear spare tire well and held down when it was transported from my home in Colorado and back to the East Coast.
  17. Jeff : Are the inside of the bumpers coated with anything for rust prevention? In your picture, its looks like the inside is painted black. If not, I would POR 15 the insides to protect them. On your car, I vote you leave them chrome...

    The hood looks exquisite!
  19. Finally got the 280Z up on the lift and did a mechanical inspection... couldn't resist taking some pictures too!
  20. Haha that was my plan! I have read the stainless can get scratches with washing, I would just be very careful about using a dirty wash mitt or anything other than lambs wool/clean micro fiber. And as always soap is a must.
  21. I think that would look pretty cool on your gold, right?, car. You should photoshop it the way you want it and look at a a bunch. That's what I did, even though I'm shitty at photoshop it still helped me decide.
  22. Just so you know 25ft is just enough to replace all the brake lines in the car if you decide to go that route.
  23. Now do yourself a favour - cover them up again with protective film during the install! I managed to put a scratch on mine, that while not very visible to most people’s eyes, I see it every time ;)
  24. S30Driver, That worked as advertised. I ran the ignition in start for 10 seconds with the lead to the S terminal of the starter/solenoid disconnected. Then reconnected the starter S lead and the car started on the first turn! Thanks! Dutchzcarguy, I put 2 1/2 gallons in an empty tank and the car started. E

For some, a tin foil hat may not be enough. They may be better protected by a jacket with extra long sleeves.

Hopefully I didn't come across as being down on Pastafarians or Jessica. She's actually pretty talented. Played Carnegie in her teens, is a Mensa, don't know if her website is still up, but she's the web master. And I don't know if she still drives a Corvette.

Of course you do. What's not to like? From https://www.spaghettimonster.org/about/ "Religious texts tell us that humans evolved from Pirates. Consider that so-called “science experts” would have us believe humans evolved from primates, pointing towards the shared 99% shared DNA between humans and primates. But humans and Pirates share upwards of 99.9% of DNA. We believe that Pirates were the original Pastafarians and that they were peaceful explorers. It was only due to Christian misinformation that they have an image of outcast criminals today. No one knows what the afterlife really holds, but we are told FSM Heaven has a Beer Volcano and Stripper Factory." A beer volcano and stripper factory? Sign me up!! Can I get a "Ramen?"
  28. A short word to aluminium radiators and the people who are selling them.. they say it works better than the original.. i doubt that!!.. the original is made of copper and is a much better heat-conductor then aluminum (as you call it 😉 ) One can not expect a 200 dollar aluminum radiator is as good as the original copper one.. I would always prefer the old second hand copper radiator above the alu junk (most are..) radiators that are sold cheap.. My own 240z has a copper one.. in there for more than 22 years.. (posible is it the orig. from 1971.. i don't know..) but if it's gonna leak i have a new one in stock.. or i would repair the old one with a new core im sure!
  29. Here are the extra bulb fronts. https://www.ebay.com/itm/112651430499?hash=item1a3a8c6a63:g:nEUAAOSwCJxaFMu4 Edit to add the rear pic. It looks like the bulb would go in the center spot on the top light row. Where the rubber looking plug is.
  30. there were 4 completed ads on Ebay searching by "Datsun Mikuni". The similar 44's brought like $2200 without the air filters but included the intake. So not an unreasonable number provided they aren't too varnished up Look at my previous post
  31. What size are they? Completed auctions on Ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/MIKINI-TRIPLE-CARB-for-DATSUN-240Z-260Z-280Z-with-Manifold/333744215926?hash=item4db4b49776:g:mOAAAOSwRoVfey8g https://www.ebay.com/itm/MIKUNI-TRIPLE-CARB-44mm-for-DATSUN-240Z-260Z-280Z-with-intake-and-heat-shield/254802489229?hash=item3b53696f8d:g:pD8AAOSwDchfstZ7 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-Triple-Mikuni-40phh-intake-manifold-linkages/284106629648?hash=item4226132210:g:fIIAAOSw1A1fzYmp The 40's seem to go for less money
  32. It's all about what you are willing to pay. That price isn't far off a set in good shape, as determined by internals more than dust on the outside. A lot of patina can show up on a carb that's mint where it counts...
  33. I would say a max of 300$-500$ a carb in that condition. That looks to be a mikuni intake which is worth another 300-500.
  34. March 2016 update i just ordered hoses and I'm in the process. Tank is down and out. Trying to figure out sequence of removing these very stiff hoses OUT.
