  1. I don't know for sure who else on this site - but so fare we have found 189 people that bought their 240Z new from the Dealers and kept them - or kept them in the same family. Wonder if there is a World Record there? http://www.zhome.com/IZCC/ZRegisters/original.htm FWIW, Carl B.
  2. Boy am I kicking myself in the arse after selling the #110 '72 for $6,000. White interior too. It had some rust but overall a solid original. Dang, dang, dang! The timing was bad in my direction, after I sold it they started climbing in price. Day late and many dollars short. I sleep good though, car karma. He got a fair deal and my life hasn't been too bad since.

    I think it's a whoopie cushion for tight a s s e s.
  4. Things I am tired of: US politics, Canadian politics, anti maskers, morons who can't understand basic instructions about how to register for vaccines( BC opened for first public vaccines today, 83,000 people eligible for the first phase, 1.7 million idiots jammed phone lines), Megxit, China. Things I am grateful for: Surviving lung cancer for over a year, my family, being part of a community of like minded enthusiasts who are nothing but helpful and supportive of each other!
  5. There’s always Washington, Colorado or any of the 15 states with legal recreational weed. Just sayin’. 🤪
  6. It's a unit made by a guy in Australia, company is called One Six Industries.
  7. Jump in one of your Zs and make a few rips around Cheaha Mtn, be sure to slow down and enjoy the views, grab a Mata’s, a 6 pack and call it a day that many will never be blessed with! These are trying times for sure but this is a great group to commiserate with ✌🏻
  8. Spotted today at the beach near LAX.
  9. This just proves how great a group of friends I have. You are the best and I won't ever forget the kindness I've been shown over the years. Always in debt to this group. I try, all though unsuccessful many times over, and over, to help but I will be here every day. You all are the best, wrenches down. Cliff
  10. Hey I have to apologize to you guys. I had a little break down here, y'all are my friends and I needed to talk. My Mom's sister passed away Saturday night from complications of covid-19. Thank you all for unknowingly helping me. I really appreciate it. Cliff
  11. So I took it out, unfortunately there was traffic but after fiddling with it I definitely have control over the idle again. I really moved quite a few teeth on the black gear (maybe 13?) and got the car to cruise at 14.7 but it did really feel anemic so I dropped it down a few teeth. That said, there really was too much traffic to get reliable numbers so I think I'm going to put this on hold until the weekend when I can take it on the highway and get better numbers for you folks.
  12. I have that same flywheel. Did they they mention the circular shim that’s required to take up the diameter difference between the RB and L series crankshaft. You will need that. The bolt pattern is identical of course but I think you will want the shim to fill the gap difference on the crank. It’s a well made flywheel.
  13. Thanks for the explanation.. As soon as I get the clear picture of the cam sprocket I will post and we can go from there.
  14. Never seen a crank pulley seal with a metal flange like that. Always fully covered in rubber. Also, it is best to install the seal with the cover off of the engine. I lay the cover on a flat surface, such as a clean sheet of plywood, with a clean shop towel on it. Then I set the seal in the opening, and lay a 2x4 on top, taking care to hold the seal square and true to the opening. I use a large deadblow hammer to set the seal into the hole, driving it flush with the front of the cover. There isn’t anything to keep the seal from being pushed all the way through, so using the method described here ensures the seal is placed squarely and at the correct depth. Grease the seal where it rides on the snout of the pulley, and install the cover. For the woodruff key, I use a dab of grease to hold it in place while sliding the pulley on. The pulley should slide on easily, never force it. If it takes more effort than using your hands, something is wrong. Figure out what and correct the problem. It helps to test fit before getting to final assembly, before the cover is installed, to be sure it is ready to go.
  15. Shaquille O'neal. He's on my television all the time. Commercials. Always a nuisance but now with Safer at Home they've doubled. Streaming also affects this last money grab in my opinion. The Royal Family. No comment! is all I want to hear from those poor family members. Craig Robinson, Snoop Dog, Matthew McConaughey, Tim Allen, those damn Kardashians-Jenners, Dr Pimple Popper just showing up on my menu screen, and so many more but I hate to bore my friends. Safer at home hasn't worked like I anticipated, spending time with your loved ones, fixing your cars and house. Thank goodness for alcohol. Maybe Shaq could do that commercial?
  16. I'm no expert on the topic, but from what I've heard the numbers you listed as your goal would be excellent. Maybe cruise just a little bit leaner? I guess that depends on how likely the engine is to incur pre-ignition, right? If it's an engine that's designed "not to ping", then you can run leaner? Anyway, there are guys here on the forum much better versed in that stuff than I am. As for the plan about testing with the EVAP completely plugged off and then again with it connected... I think that's an excellent idea. That'll give you an idea of what's going on. In theory, the only change you should see is that your cruise number should get a little leaner with the carbon can connected.
  17. For those who need to read the number lol
  18. at the bottom end, there isn't a difference between compression stroke or exhaust stroke. theres just pistons going up and down. the cam timing determines whether a piston up stroke is compression or exhaust. so if the piston #1 is at TDC (determined by your screwdriver) and the cam dowel is correctly engaged with the cam pulley and the marks line up on the cam pulley and the thrust plate, then #1 is at TDC on compression stroke. Then if the distributor drive spindle is aligned 11:25 with the tang offset to the correct side (which side? can't remember!) then the spark timing is in the right ball park and the engine should attempt to run if you have sparks and fuel.
  19. I spotted this Low VIN 240Z (HLS30-01285) on the Tucson, AZ Craigslist. The car does not have its original engine (L28 & a 5 Speed) Here's the link: https://tucson.craigslist.org/pts/d/tucson-datsun-240z-411-wagon/7288670445.html Downsizing my collection to focus on other projects. 1970 Datsun 240Z series one #1285 (Yellow) Needs restoration but was running and driving one year ago. Sorry purists, the car has an L28 motor and five speed trans. But I do have a series 1 240Z engine and trans available with sale. The car has been in Arizona most of it’s life and has very little rust. Asking $15,000 1967 Datsun 411 Wagon Running and driving six months ago but distributor was pulled out and rebuilt just never put back in. The car is all original, has very little rust and has been in Arizona nearly all its life. Asking $5,000 I love these classic cars and know what they are worth so please do not make ridiculous offers. Cash sales only Call or text Sean 520-235-495four
  20. Shaq just popped up, talking about Epson printer's. "Fill and chill" then stupid dance moves. Damn it Shaq!
  21. So I have a question... How have you confirmed TDC? Not by marks or some other, but true TDC?
  22. Yes I have a real problem with the Romeo. I worked 31years for Richard Romero so I do that all the time. I purchase a connector kit from Vintage connectors , a spade connector kit from cycle terminals and delphi connectors for outside connectors. Would have liked the deutsch connectors but did not want to purchase another crimp tool. A kit of shrink warp, plus 3-1, 2-1 shrink warp. Started with the brake, turn signal and running lights. Im installing the JDM taillights so I removed the brake switch from the turn signal circuit. Also I installed another 1157 socket on the top row of taillights of the JDM lights. This gives a much better brake light. The front marker lights I removed the 1156 sockets and installed 1157 and ran them into the front turn signals.Pretty easy to do. Next will be the headlights.
  23. I had a motor failure a long time ago resulting from a recip A/C compressor causing uneven torque pulses on the crank snout. The harmonic damper's woodruff key wallowed out the keyway. Rather than weld up and recut the woodruff groove, the machinist suggested cutting one continuous key way and using one long straight square key. Perfect! It solves every problem with woodruff keys and presents no problems I've yet to encounter. I know this doesn't help much unless you end up with a bigger problem. 🤯

Thanks guys. I appreate your help. siteunseen has the best answer. Yes a drain of some sort. Yes the wide part is rubber that is flatened. The clamp is most definitetly not OE. The hose is quite old however. Just thought I would ask, Maybe it was one of those unobtainables. Maybe not!
  25. Number 6 looks like a home made piece of cut out metal.
  26. And just when it was safe to go out in the garage, acute Achilles tendinitis. I got a boot and a medrol dose pack! I did get something done though. Before my ankle started hurting, (after my arse stopped hurting) I drove down to the machine shop and talked to my friend about converting the Jeep CAS for L6 use. Just for good measure, I bought 3 of them... stole Duffy’s picture!
  27. I'm sure there's no need to apologize to anyone here. And my condolences to you and your family.
  28. Doing my own wide-band tuning today . Two are better than one !
  29. I too felt the same on compression testing when I rebuilt 2 motors. Never checked them to this day. Cars run great. Some things I don't need to know.
  30. I smoked from the early '80s until New Years morning 2007 at about 9am. I quit a lot of stuff then. We have the high cdb, low thc legal here now but its BS in my opinion. I prefer pharmacies for my drugs now. They say Alabama is about to start a 2oz or lower fine, up to $250. Pot grows like crazy down here in our climate so dispensary weed would never work. I'd be affraid to smoke again it makes me hyper. My doctor says I have ptsd from a closed head trauma and stimulates relax me where weed stimulates me. Crazy! I'll figure it out after I drink a little more. I'm still fairly young and smart enough to drink at home.
  31. From some web-searching I just did: I guess that's not an option... Advertising networks must love working with Shaq, quite a familiar face. I've not tried `Yoo-hoos` I'll keep my eyes peeled for it, I've been drinking optimum nutrition double chocolate, i think i have at least 3 months supply left....
