  1. Check to see if you have a ZX distributor. I think the ballast resistor gets bypassed when using a ZX distributor. An easy way to ID is if there's a "matchbox" on the side of the distributor, it would be labeled something like E12-80 or E12-92 (don't believe those who tell you E12-80 is the only one that works).

  6. Interesting, did these "original California" cars really have the non-pollution balance tube on the carbs?

  8. Take a close look at the shot of the engine bay. Looks like the car may have been blue.
  9. Love those wheels. I had them on my 73 240Z until I hit a manhole without the cover on it in the night and broke one wheel. Couldn't find replacements.
  10. I guess this is also telling of my age...

  12. Agree, but I can do without the bars on top of the rear bumper!

  14. My MSA 6 -> 1 headers only came with the MSA header gasket and I re-used my factory now 50 year old studs, nuts (that spun down with my fingers), fat washers and bolts. Maybe that's why my MSA header gasket and headers haven't leaked in the 4 years since I installed them?
  15. Just one comment on the header gasket and not sure it applies in your case. The MSA headers come with a gasket that MSA says should be used rather than the OEM gasket. 16. Thanks! I have the ZX dizzy, but it was installed by my Z mechanic almost 20 years ago. I checked and they did use the correct adapter thingy. Just FYI- The E12-92 matchbox works exactly like the E12-80 when only the top connector is used and the lower connector is left open. I've been running the E12-92 matchbox on the dizzy for almost 20 years and it works just great.
  17. Do you know what the "adapter sort of part" is?
  18. 😁 This is how things are taken out of context. 😁

  20. The part you refer to without the screw hole is actually part of the stock USA linkage. There is another part on the USA linkage that has the screw to adjust the throttle deceleration opener. On my car I've removed the Control Valve and Servo Diaphragm in the image in post #43 of this thread by @siteunseen which leaves the throttle opener bar with screw to flop around, red arrow in photo. It looks like this bar may be removable it the linkage is disassembled.
  21. Does someone have a picture of the carburetor linkage on a Euro or other non-USA 240Z? Is that piece of the linkage not there?
  22. The screw will do nothing without the other components. I would just leave it zip tied.
  23. Since the #6 Diaphragm (and #3 control valve) has been removed on your car the #13 screw does nothing. The zip tie is just to keep the bar the #6 diaphragm and #13 screw attach to from flopping around since it no longer is used to slightly hold the throttle open during deceleration.
  24. The Bumperettes (vertical "boots") were stock on the '73. The bars on the top of the rear bumper were an option, not stock.

When I did mine I used LED's that matched the color of the lenses they were going under.
