I've realized something in the past few days. People who have very strong controlling personalities aren't doing too well during this and I'm laughing my arse off.

Another White House virus briefing coming up soon. I'm betting that Trump will call it the Wu Tang virus. Diversify your bonds... People in the room now. Any minute. It's on... The usual rambling. Nothing new. The campaign speech will start soon. Not worth watching anymore.

Cleaning and prepping small parts here. Also sending out final batch of parts to the plating shop. I am surprised that Motorsports does not yellow zinc plate their engine parts (two shown below) but it works out fine as I am sending parts to the pate shop anyway. Disassembled the bumpers to prep for new chrome plating. Looks like the bumperette rubber is in descent shape and can be re-used. That is good news as those peices are pretty hard to find. The trim rubber is cracked and oxidized so we will replace those.

"Your home is on fire, yelling at the guy holding the hose wrong doesn’t help you put the fire out." That's a great example. Let me add some detail... The town next to yours catches fire. Ravaging out of control. Spreading out of control like.... well like wildfire. Analyzing the situation, fire experts tell the fire chief of YOUR town... "Hey boss. This thing in the next town over doesn't look good. This could easily spread to our town and we should start getting ready." Your fire chief's reaction is “we have it totally under control. It’s going to be just fine.” Shortly after that, the fire experts are tell your fire chief "Hey boss, bad news... We got a couple houses on fire in OUR town now. We're working on them, but it's so dry and windy that it's probably going to spread in OUR town just like it did in the other town. And if that happens, we're not going to have enough people or equipment. What should we do?" Your chief's reaction - "We have it very well under control. We have very little problem here at this moment — five. And those are all being put out successfully.” Shortly after that, the fire experts tell your chief "More bad news boss... Remember how we warned you that it's likely to spread? Well guess what... It's spreading fast. And as we warned you before, we are running out of supplies and people to fight it. What should we do?" Your chief's reaction - “We’re talking about a much smaller range. It’s very mild. I’m not concerned at all. It will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away.” Then the fire experts give the next update... "Hey boss, we've pretty much lost control. Houses are catching fire faster than we can handle. Most of them are just small fires and are going out by themselves, but many of the older houses are burning to the ground. Oh... And vacationers are pulling money out of our town because they're worried about the whole thing." Your chief's reaction - “Did you say that people are pulling money out of our town???? That's really bad!! Do something!!!"
  7. I communicated with my supplier this past week about the taillamp bars. Production is currently down, but it looks like there may be enough interest to warrant reproducing some additional sets. I'll post up when they are back on stock, but that may not be until the end of summer.

  9. Smoking gun?1 ok #6 EXHAUST completely loose, jam nut up, multiple turns and I am still not there. I just had to come in and shout this out!! Keep your fingers crossed, seems like this has to be it. Now how did this happen, being old (see covid) brings along a condition known as brain fart. I MUST have started there, or just got confused/distracted and loosened that one up before moving on the intake. anyway taking a break to let the possible joy last for a while just in case I am wrong.

  11. For years, literally years and years, I have been frustrated over and over again when setting up timing on our L series engines. Whether it’s a fresh engine setup, or after removing and replacing the distributor drive shaft after routine maintenance, I’m very often off by one tooth. “So what” I proclaim, I’ll just adjust the timing by rotating the distributor a bit more. But nope, the slots in the plate are never long enough to allow that. Or I have a custom setup and need to put the distributor in a specific orientation, but can’t because the timing plate won’t line up as needed. I’ve had many customer cars in for various work, and often find the drive gear alignment is out have to sort out their timing issues. They may have been running crazy retarded for a long time and didn’t know how to fix it. I’ve often resorted to cutting and welding on extensions to the plate to give me more rotation. Ugly, but it worked. Whatever the reason, being too lazy to drop that sway bar one more time to get the oil pump off, or having a custom setup, or needing to get just the right base to suit the upgraded ZX E12-80 distributor you just bought but now can’t use, wouldn’t it be nice to just have a distributor timing plate that allows more adjustment? Maybe even cover any all possible Nissan distributor replacement options no matter your specific situation? No need to find the “right” base? Heck, just not caring if you have the drive shaft alignment EXACTLY right when you put the oil pump back on, would be worth at least 6 rolls of toilet paper, right? Maybe even a BIG jar of hand sanitizer! Not a week goes by when someone has been begging for help with getting the timing right here or on any of the forums or facebook. How often have each of us posted the famous picture looking down the dizzy hole with the correct tang orientation? You know the one. Well, I’ve had enough. I “Fixed” it. Even put an “A” and and arrow to show you which way is “Advance”. So what say you experts? Is is this worth making more of? Suggestions?

MSNBC and some NPR stations are no longer carrying Trump's "press conferences" because of the confusing and inaccurate statements that he makes. They make it clear in their announcements that they do not want to confuse and misinform the public, and will cover the accurate and helpful information that is presented. https://deadline.com/2020/03/coronavirus-donald-trump-nor-station-kuow-1202892198/ This is the first president in our history who is so out of touch with reality and unwilling to listen to his experts that his press conferences are not covered by some broadcast media.

  14. They are stainless steel from Skillard. There is an isolator between the tank and strap. I used heavy duty vinyl? floor edging material. It’s back in my thread about two years... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Those are the thickest fuel tank straps I've ever seen. Assuming they are aluminum, is there any concern over galvanic corrosion or are they completely isolated via rubber? I like the Silvermine sticker placement too.

I don't think I fear Covid19 as much as I fear those people who are buying toilet paper for a respiratory illness and how they're going to vote in November. One thing is for sure. Times like these will bring out the absolute best in some people and the absolute worst in others. It boils down to how much compassion they have in themselves. Those who have very little will also find they have very little conscience. F everyone else, I'm in it for me is the result.

I keep finding stuff. This one even has some China in it. Bible study for Trump's cabinet. It's a scary read. Remember Pompeo and The Rapture. https://theintercept.com/2020/03/24/trump-cabinet-bible-studies-coronavirus/ The Drollinger-led Bible study meets every Wednesday morning with members of Trump’s cabinet, including Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, and Health Secretary Alex Azar.
  22. Excellent. Sounds like great progress. There was at least one person who mounted a new style water control valve in the interior compartment, but I don't remember who. @grannyknot maybe? (This is apparently my go-to guess for someone if I can't remember who it was? )

  25. Thanks Patcon, After I posted I started doing a preliminary assembly and I'm much more confident than I was. And you're right about the key. . . the big rubber diaphram holds it in. I had a hard time stuffing the bell shaped rubber piece on the central rod but it finally went in. Looking forward to getting it to close up in the end. That should be fun to figure out. Thought about modifying an oil filter wrench to make it the right diameter. Thanks for the feedback. . .

This is actually pretty well know if you just look around a little bit. This doctor was escorted out of the Canadian lab and all her research assistants. There have been a number of other researchers who have been arrested for being complicit in this. Biowarfare research is what goes on at these level 4 labs among other things. Even at our level 4 labs! The problem comes when you play with fire but don't have a cure, treatment or vaccine and it gets out. Then bad things happen. If you wanted to create a really bad virus weapon, what would you want? Contagiuos, long incubation period while transmissible, deadly, health care intense...? I read a long article the other day about how you can mutate a virus by infecting animals in series until you get the desired mutations. You end up with a much more deadly virus and no engineering markers. Patient zero in China had never been to the wet market or had contact with anyone who did. Pretty hard to catch it from someplace or someone you've never been in contact with...

  29. Hello to all, I understand that this topic was created a year and a half ago but I didn't acquire my Z till december and my booster is ripped apart now. Patcon was super helpful by directing me to this conversation and I've poured through the discussion and the photos repeatedly. I am suspicious of the booster as it came on the car and I'm thinking it wasn't done right the last time. I'm now doing my best to match up the new rebuild kit parts with what I have and preparing to reassemble after some final paint work I still need to do. This morning I put the poppet assembly back together and re-punched the 3 divets thanks to the input and courage you all provided. I have included a photo of how I'm thinking the unit will be reassembled with a few questions. If anyone would take a look, I'd be real appreciative. Questions. . . I didn't notice when I took it apart but I'm wondering if the key that holds the poppet assembly needs to be facing up so as not to fall out ever. Also I'm thinking bearing/seal part "P" is to replace soft seal "L" . The new part is a really tight fit but once lubricated, I think it'll go in. Also thinking the metal ring side goes in first and installer pushes on the hard plastic side? And then it's followed by the serrated ring? "I" is the old dust boot which I like better than the replacement and it's still pretty supple. The poppet assembly is also a super tight fit but with silicone grease it should go. If anyone wants to chime in with comments I'm all ears. Thanks to all and stay well and prosperous, Andy

Clearly its time for the old folks to begin heading to the lime pits. This will greatly assist the current administration's goals of eliminating Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security so that the money can be redirected to corporate and financial bailouts..
  32. FAIL REPORT: So somehow I managed to dent the fuel tank after I mounted it. I think I lifted the front end and the jack might have been below the tank. Either way a nice rectangular dent about 1/4” deep was in the left side of the tank. Sanded, filled, sanded and resprayed in satin black. No pic of the dent sorry. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The Service center where Kathy and I volunteer has done that. All the elderly (God, how I hate that word) volunteers are to stay home until further notice. The Center is now temporarily staffed by younger folks who are out of work. I'd like to thank all those younger volunteers out there who are taking a bullet for us.

  36. I actually wrote a letter to Nissan about that horrid concept. Although, I never got a response, I feel that in some small way, I helped keep that POS off the roads.
  37. I sand blasted this one then sprayed it with clear satin high heat metal protector from Eastwood. Turned out good, to me.
  38. +1 on the link to vintageconnections.com (source jim lists above for connectors) - great stuff at a reasonable price. while i haven't replaced a fuse block, i bought a "professional kit" from them, which includes a great assortment of connectors and housings plus a really nice crimping tool. i've used these plugs on the z as well as on my motorcycles and am very happy with it. the spade connectors are brass and the tool gives excellent crimps - first one i've used that approaches factory quality.
