Anyone else order the 280z dash? Hope so see it soon ordered 5 weeks ago, think it was 6-8 weeks for delivery IIRC. When I get it will take some pics, maybe do an install video. My OE dash is in pretty good shape just one big crack near the center starting from behind the clock nacelle, but the new dash was too hard to pass on.

The dashboard in my car had some serious cracks along the top but I couldn't pull the trigger to send it off for rework because of the cost. I wanted to try to repair it somehow though, I had to try something! Here's a few pictures of the cracks. Because of the limit on pictures in each post, I'll upload the balance of the pictures and the materials used after this. Bruce

This past spring the heater core in my 77 was leaking, so I bought a NOS aftermarket heater core off ebay as a replacement. I pressure tested it on the bench before installation and everything looked fine, so I put it in. Unfortunately, joy was short lived and by the end of the summer, the new one that I just put in was leaking. Again. Direct drop in cores are getting hard to find, and are expensive, so I started messing around with alternatives. I've been reluctant to mention it because the project isn't done and until the T's are dotted and the I's are crossed, there's the chance that something will come up that kills the whole idea. However, I'm going to jump the…

I'm getting ready to replace the carpet in my red 240Z. I want to stay with the original style loop pile carpet, rather than the more modern cut pile. So far, I've found at least three suppliers for the loop pile, MSA, Too Intense and Datsun Spirit. Has anyone bought any loop carpet from any of these vendors recently? If so, what was the quality of the carpet kit? Did it come with replacement jute?

Here's some information that I could have used about 2 months sooner, before I bought my new door panels from a re-seller. Oh well, maybe this will save someone else a few bucks. New door panels are available from the Nissan Parts Dept. here in Canada. According to the post on Hybridz, where I heard this, they are around $200.00 per side. I don't have any particulars and am just passing on a lead if you are in the market for new door panels. Here are the current Nissan part numbers: H0901 N3300 H0901 E4100

HLS I don't have any specific problems right now except for trying to find some parts.ery hard to find parts like the rubber grommet on the shift boot for the early Z cars. But I will ask when things come up. I will get some pics when I can figure out how to do it. The Burt Reynolds thing is interesting.

Today I am starting to get together everything to make some reproduction parts, I am hindered today by the unexpected illness of my son number 1, so I will not have as much time as I expected, but as he naps, and soaks up comfort, I will be doing some, if not all the following things-between Daddy duty! 1) getting all of the original parts I want to reproduce together in one spot. 2) Maximizing the condition of my original parts(cleaning and repairing) 3) Storing the ready parts until I am ready to actually make the molds 4) Getting appropriate containers for building the molds 5) Getting together the appropriate supplies for making the molds 6) Actually start making mold…

Hello, I have a choke knob and a throttle knob on the console, yes I added a throttle knob by myself during its restoration about 3 years ago. But I have been thinking why there are 2 types of knobs? The round one is original,we know we can see it in the brochure, the square one is also from the factory but it seems later production parts? But Nov 1969 parts catalog's picture shows these knobs are square type. Which is original for my march 1970 240Z? Please see this, http://www.geocities.jp/datsunz903/choke.html Thank you, kats

Mikewags and Mike B I am curious if when you finally got the dash out if you found any Japanese Kanji (script) on the bottom side of it? When I did my dash a couple of years ago I found it in my car. I understand it was common for assembly line personnel to do this. I had mine translated and it meant "Spring Time". Here is picture of it. I hope everything goes well on the re-install.

Got a message the other day of someone selling some black leather 350z seats and I couldn't say no. Well I could of, but the price was great. Being they had red stitching kind of sealed the deal- lol. they are power heated seats so I will have wiring to do plus some fab work. Looking forward to having some more flexibility and comfort in my ride. I guess there will be some 1st gen seats on the market soon! well I would have posted a pic but the upload keeps failing

I just finished fixing a stripped out shift knob for another Z owner and after messing with his wooden shift knob, I decided that I liked it. While I had his original wooden knob in the shop as an example, I figured I would try my hand at fashioning myself a new knob. Here's a shot of my new knob in process: And here is the trio... My faux leather black plastic, the wooden knob I just made, the original wood knob I just fixed: I'm no woodworker, and know pretty much nothing about finishes, etc. Any woodworkers in the house that can provide some input into stains, finishes, etc? Can anyone tell what type of wood and finish was used on the original? I used some light…
