Frame Rail Patch Yes or No?
I did order a scope that’s blue tooth where I can view, take pics and video with your smart phone. Will be interesting to see what I find. Has a 12 foot lead which will just about cover any and everything. I’ll give that a try before I pull out the real technical equipment.

Frame Rail Patch Yes or No?
Will do. I’ll call each of them. It would be great if they had short sections of channel I could purchase without having to buy a complete rail. Thanks for the insight.

Frame Rail Patch Yes or No?
Here are some pics of two holes on the bottom of what I refer to is the frame rail. Please school me if I’m referring to the wrong area. Both are on the left side in the middle of the rail. You’ll notice the steel horizontal plate between the two areas which will give you an idea of the location. The sides of the rail are solid along with the rest of the frame rail. Suggestions please. I have the transmission and exhaust removed so now would be a good time to fix this problem. The rest of the undercarriage from what I can see is in good shape. This is a 280Z . Multiple pictures of the same two locations. Larger diameter hole is 5” long. The other 4”

78 280Z rear strut removal
The amount of grease from the factory surprised me as well. I’ve owned my 280 going on 38 years now so I know it hasn’t been repaired or serviced in the past . Mine has 135k but has been in storage for 12 years. Big difference compared to the front axle.

78 280Z rear strut removal
Hey Dave, Recently I replaced my rear wheel bearings while refurbishing the rear suspension. Mine had no sign of leaking or bearing issues. When I did open it up the grease had hardened somewhat and turned dark in color and looked as if it had gotten hot at some point. Grease had begun to separate from the bearing. Quite surprised when I saw that.

Frozen Master Cylinder/Booster Damage
Went to replace the master cylinder this afternoon. Car has not been driven for 12 years or so. The master cylinder was frozen. There are signs of fluid leaking on the front of the booster over time. Here are some pics of what I found after removing the master cylinder. The booster makes a light swooshing sound when the pedal is pressed up and down. I would assume the booster is shot. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks

Transmission Crossmember bushings
Replacing the bushings 280z crossmember. Replacing with the poly bushing. Prepping the crossmember while I wait on the parts to arrive. Before I press the sleeves out I want to make sure the bushings aren’t sized to fit with the sleeves in tact. First time I’ve used poly everything else was OE. Thanks in advance for the help.

Turbo Conversion Set-Up
I appreciate it. I bought a complete drivetrain out of an 83Zx ET. ECU and harness as well. I bounce back and forth on the forums. Hoover had posted a short list he had used a couple years back. The other option I have is building a stroker motor. I already bought the crank and have a p79 head as well. Too many options.

Turbo Conversion Set-Up
I realize this post is a couple years old but would like to get your advice/opinion on the conversion. I have a 78 280z. Bought a complete 83zx motor, transmission with a recently reman ecu and harness. I assume you installed a mega squirt system. Not sure if I should try the original setup or go the route you did minus the manifold/oil pan etc. Any advice you could throw my way would be much appreciated. Don’t know if you’ve added an inter cooler since this posting. Thanks in advance... John

78 280Z rear strut removal
Just finished my suspension rebuild. One product I found for anything frozen/rusted shut is Kroil penetrating oil. It’s an amazing product. Found it on Amazon, a little pricy but well worth it. Out performed anything else I tried.
