RubenD Posted April 5, 2023 Share #1 Posted April 5, 2023 Does anyone know if the OEM oil pressure sender had a wirelug connector or a bullet style? I don't see a picture of it in the FSM. I'm looking to replace the oil pressure sender on my 4/74 260Z. The one on the car has a wire lug with a screw that holds the wire in place. All the replacement units i've found have a bullet style connector. Before I cut wiring to change connectors I thought I'd ask around. If the correct one is with the wire lug, can a replacement be found anywhere?

cgsheen1 Posted April 5, 2023 Share #3 Posted April 5, 2023 FSM says bullet connector and that's what I use on mine.
Yarb Posted April 6, 2023 Share #4 Posted April 6, 2023 I’ve never seen a ops on a S30 that looked like that.
siteunseen Posted April 6, 2023 Share #5 Posted April 6, 2023 I've not seen one with the ring connector either. Pre EFI has a single wire for the gauge only, the 280s have one for the gauge and one for the high pressure fuel pump cutoff. I'm pretty sure I used the yellow size crimp bullet connector on my '72. You could buy the new sender then figure out your connection when you get it.

Yarb Posted April 7, 2023 Share #8 Posted April 7, 2023 (edited) Better yet, who put it on there and why would you trust it? Wiring looks different. @SteveJ? Edited April 7, 2023 by Yarb
SteveJ Posted April 7, 2023 Share #9 Posted April 7, 2023 I'm pretty sure it was on there when I bought the car 30 years ago. It seems to work fine.
RubenD Posted April 7, 2023 Author Share #10 Posted April 7, 2023 That looks exactly like the one on my car. My guage is indicating almosg no oil presure at idle speeds which is obviously concerning. I'm curious to see if its a sensor problem or something else. Thanks again.

The rule of thumb is 10 PSI/1000 RPM. Full scale is to 90 your car, so 10 PSI isn't that far up the scale.
Yarb Posted April 7, 2023 Share #12 Posted April 7, 2023 @SteveJI did not realize you had encountered this before. Maybe back in the day “World Parts” may have put this out there.
