I have a quick question: Is the suspension from a 71 240z interchangeable with the suspension of a 73 240z? It looks like it will work from what I can tell from my Haynes manual, but I'm not sure. Thanks

Hey guys I have issues finding the short in my electrical system. I have narrowed it down to my parking light circut. I have the PLH, and HLH in from dave, and the fuse blows when I turn my lights on. So I removed all parking lights, including tail lights. Then turned the lights back on and POP. Still blew the fuse. I have cleaned all connections. Where should I head next? 72 240z by the way thanks frankie

I've got an old wore out dizzy and want to switch over to electronic ignition anyway. I just swapped out alternators and now I've got the upgrade bug. I intend to buy a reman from a local parts store. My understanding is that I need a distributor mount/adapter from a ZX to make this change. I have no idea what it looks like and can't seem to find a yard around here that either has any Z/ZX's anymore or will let you pick your own parts. 1) Does anyone have a pic of what I need? and 2) Does anybody have one kicking around that I can purchase? Thanks in advance!

Hello all After a month of vacation I finally got my Z back on the road. After hooking the battery back up I fired her up. She started as if I had never left. Walking around the engine bay I noticed that the alternator rattles (or wobbles would be a better word) From the looks there are two bolts holding it to the engine. Two questions. 1. Should there be more bolts holding it on? There is a clear hold on the back side of the alternator nearest the engine. (not on the little track) 2. If the bolt had broken, does anyone know what kind and where one could find a bolt? Jan

My 78 Z idels rough, dies, and backfires. I have been checking the fuel delivery parts. When i checked the wiring harness from inside the car I didn't get a reading on the air flow meter. I removed the air flow meter and checked it i did get a reading. I am going to double check from inside as soon as it cools off. (temp. outside) If it turns out to be the harness where can i get a good harness. If my problem can be caused by something else please let me know. (New fuel pump, filter, cold start valvue)

Hi - I'm relatively new to the z world with a 72 240Z. My problem is dirt in one carb - the one closest to firewall. I'm sure there was dirt from tank that got past / through the filter. I've read a number of threads and will probably need to start by cleaning the tank and working my way to the carbs. A few questions: Can lines be cleaned (rather than replaced)? Is there a reason why only one carb is plugging up? Does fuel pump need to be cleaned? Any helpful hints? Thanks, Mike

just replaced the fuel pump on my 76 280z...it started with no problem before and not working now. I checked to see if pump is working and it sure is working as I unpluged the hose at the filter it was pumping gas. I think it's an elertical problem, but I'm not sure where to start.

I installed the MSA Short Shifter and it works fine but I wonder why the shifter knob is that heavy. It seems that the knob is an original Nissan part 32865-35F00. Can you tell me what the advantage of a relativly heavyweight knob is compared to a light one ?

Hi guys I've got a bit of an annoying problem with my 260 in that I don't bloody well fit , Now I had a left hand drive 260 2+2 over 20 years ago now and I remember the seat went back to far in that if I had it all the way back so had to pull it a little forward. But on this early 260 I have now not only do I find it very hard indeed getting past the standard 15" dished wheel once I'm in it's nearly on my chest and I find it hard to change gear with my leg hitting the wheel, Their is about 6" behind the seat with it all the way back and I was wondering if any other tall/fat people might of had the same problem and solved it ?. Any pointers would be gratefully received,…

please note in this picture to the left of the gas jar....is an example of my paint issue....looks like a dry lake bed....cracked and shrunken...all the way to bare and rusting metal..... http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q224/Bounce19712/0719101251.jpg I have used a little sander I have with 150 grit and gone through the two layers of primer and paint down to bare metal..... there is still some pitting in the finish where the exposed metal was rusting...but it looks smooth enough to add sandable primer... question 1: anyone everseen a baremetal finish Z? like polished aluminum p-51 mustang? ... If this is possible I'd like to try.... question 2: I really have…
