I'm new to z cars so alot of it is foriegn to me. The problem started with a 72 240 i bought a couple weeks ago. The car a couple days ago will not start unless you get under the hood and push that red button by the battery. everytime you shut it off you have to get out and push that button before it will star again. Now this morning went to start the car and it will not run unless you hold the key in the start position which of course keeps the starter running. As soon as you let off the key it dies. I ordered a book for these cars but it wont be here for a week. Any help would be great. Thanks

Since I solved the radiator problem I was having, I've come across a new problem. This car has the most intricate cooling system of all the cars I've worked on. As such, I need a little push in the right direction as to which hose goes where. Some of the hoses that came with the car have been cut, so I can't just find where it fits the best. First, if anyone has any entire cooling system diagrams, then you don't have to read any further. The car is a 1974 260z by the way. I've taken a few pictures and labled each fitting using my awesome MS paint skills Below is picture 1. This is the three way neck on the thermostat housing. Also seen in this picture is the cool…

Hey Guys, I dropped the crossmember on my 1970 Z and on one of the motor mounts, there was a metal plate between the engine mounting bracket and the engine mount itself. Only problem is; I don't remember which side it came from! I think it was on the left side, just not sure. Please help. Mike

I was just wondering if there is any way to tell the difference in a 4 or 5 speed from a Datsun Z car, just by looking at the case? I have two transmissions. I have a numbers that are stamped in the bellhousing portion of the trans. As near as I can tell it's 763T007 ? The other one that I have has the numbers 7115512. **** Is there anywhere that I can just look up these numbers? **** Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Does anyone know who has the best basket weave type seat skins for a 1977/1978 280Z? I've read that some are too short on the back. This may just apply to the 240Z skins though. Thanks

Ok I've got another problem, I pulled my 280z motor and replaced the head gasket, and put it all back together, without moving the timing at all, and now I've got the engine back in the car and she wont doesn't want to fire at all. I can make the engine backfire but not start. It's really bugging me why I can't seem to get the car running perfectly. on a side note the engine ran rough before i pulled it to replace the head gasket.

Took all smog off, capped off all PVC stuff, then the carb by the firewall started leaking off fuel, other one is fine. I capped off both carbs and now it runs but seems rich...boggs a ton and then stalls 1973 240Z, before I capped off all the PVC system it ran great. First thought is lean out carbs. But unsure why the one wants to leak out fuel... FYI the carbs were changed out from flat tops to 72 round SU's before I bought it.

Hey guys, I just got a 260z running after it sat for who knows how long. If you've been following my other posts, you'll know that it came without the engine in it, and missing a good deal of parts. Not to mention, a lot of the parts that were there, are fairly damaged. I put a garden hose in the radiator to flush out all the earwigs that have managed to make a home in it, and found out one of the plastic tanks (the bottom to be exact) has a crack in it. Water leaks out fairly quickly, so I can only imagine it under pressure. First question, how well do radiator stop-leak type products work on repairing holes in the plastic tanks? Would it hold it long enough while I…

I'm new here. Have found this site useful in the past and hope that I can draw on this pool of knowledge. After registering I found there is much more to enjoy. My 77 280 needed a few things taken care of before I felt comfortable putting it on the market. I procrastinated the last thing..the brake warning light never went off. I checked the ebrake switch, leaks, pressure differential switch and bled the brakes. The last thing could fathum trying was the relay under the passenger seat. I unplugged it and the light went off, only now it won't come on and my oil pressure and fuel guage stopped working? It blows the fuel guage fuse! Is the relay under the seat conn…

Hi My need for an expansion valve was confirmed by my mechanic but I'm having a hard time finding one. Both Auto Zone and Advance say they are no longer available. Does anyone know a source of one or what I can do to repair my AC problem? Thanks Randy

Hi New member with new to me 1978 280Z. It rained last night and my fusable links (covers missing) got standing water in their bases. Car started fine but wouldn't restart later, jumped off and the car was showing below 12v on the dash gauge. The car died on the trip home and wouldn't do anything till I charged the battery. What could my problem be? Thanks Randy
