While troubleshooting a stumble at 5000 RPM I found what I think is an uneven wear pattern on the inside contacts of my distributor cap. Does this look normal?

I'm considering installing an MSD 6A ignition box this afternoon. I found a good deal on one locally but the problem is that I have not been able to find a tach adapter. I can order a tach adapter but it won't be in until next weekend. Is there anything wrong with running a 1973 240Z equipped with a MSD box but without a tach adapter or a few days? I know I won't have a functioning tach but will I hurt the tach in the process?

I would have posted this in electrical because it seems like that is the problem but i could be wrong and it is something else. Anyway i have a 71 carbed Z and the problem is when i go to start it early in the morning it doesn't start. No click, whine, trying to start nothing. Now once it gets warmer then it will start. Is the weather affecting the electrical or the mechanical? I want to try a blanket over the motor to see if that helps it start. Any ideas other than this the car runs fine and starts fine.

So I bought a 1976 280z, fuel injected and automatic trans. The plate on the inside of the engine compartment (injector side) reads: Type: HLS30 Engine No.: L24 080617 However the engine block reads: L28 084935 And the vin is HLS30-65361 I'm not sure if this means anything, it just got me curious. If anyone could translate this stuff into english for me, that'd be great! Thanks a lot John

Hey guys, long time no see! I wish this were under better circumstances, but I could use another set of brains on my car. I've been having issues with my '76. She's been running lean and cutting out under load. (I know she's running lean because I checked the plugs -- all white). 3 years ago I replaced the fuel filter, FPR, and the injectors. First instinct was that, somehow, the filter had again gone bad (it HAS been about 15 or 20k miles). I replaced that, and the car was working pretty well for about an hour ... then again the misfire came back. I went and bought a fuel injection pump tester and hooked it up to the cold start valve... and here are the results... When s…

Hello Everyone, I am searching for a couple of working F.I.C.D. Magnet Valves from a '77 - '78 Z. These are the two electric solenoids that are mounted on the passengers fender well near the Fusible Links/Relays. One is for the fast Idle when the AC is on, the other feeds vacuum to the dash. Apparently one of mine has seized up and has stopped working. I would really appreciate it if any of you could hook me up! Please PM me! BTW - You can tell if you have a good one by passing 12v across the plug - Blue being Positive and Black being Negative. The valve will have a noticeable, hardy click. Thanks to everyone in advance! :classic:

My son got a 76 280z for his 16th birthday, (lucky bastad!) Given to him by the original owner, my mom! Its got 86K original miles. But it needs work. So far whats been done before we got it is, new inj. fuel tank flushed etched,a nd sealed. fuel pump, rebuilt transmission. What we did is, new plugs, new ignition coil(still the factory!) replaced fuel pump, adjusted the TPS(thanks to a site flowing with info), cleaned lots of contacts under the hood. Drained about a quarter tank ,a nd filled a half tank of fresh 93. The problem started when I drove it to the store about a mile from here to put the fuel in, I put about 5 gal. of 93 in, and took a ten minute drive in it, …

I just got my new Konig Rewinds for my 1972 240. I ordered from them factory direct from a dealer friend of mine. They are 15" wheels. I do know alot of people run them. Here is the problem/opportunity. On the front wheels the center cap is hitting the dust cover and will not go on. Pulled the dust cover and the spindle nut is almost out to the end. So that means a shorter dust cover will not help. Will talk to Konig tommorrow and see if they make a taller center cap. Any of you guys run into this problem? I really love the wheels and new tires, but this kinda bums me out. :surprised Waited 4 weeks to get them. I have seen alot of posts on Konigs but never have seen thi…

i just purchased my 1973 240z last friday, i noticed my fuel guage didn't work (previous post asking for help with that) but i still need to drive it home, i went to get gas first and fill it up, but when i was filling it, the gas pump kept going and the fuel seem to be overflowing from the top of the tank... it was like watch you dump money down the drain.. does anyone know why the pump just wouldn't stop when full, and what i would need to check and repair so that next time i go to fill up it doesn't overflow like that Thank you
