Center line on the rotisserie pivots is 52.5" AFF (Above Finished Floor). Front bumper mounts up front are 49" AFF. Rear bumper mounts are 47" AFF. The cross bar connecting the ends is 11.5" AFF . The car is pretty neutral like this when it's all stripped...

I also made some other modifications to my blasting cabinet. I siliconed every seam I could. I built a dust cyclone out of two 5 gallon buckets which are connected to a shop vacuum. So my cabinet never clouds up. The only downside is the vacuum could be quieter. When the media seems low I just empty the cyclone back into the cabinet. The filter sees very little dust because of the cyclone...

Guy, What technique did you use?

I added some sealed halogen floodlights in the corners of my blasting cabinet. Also I spaced the glass and mylar sheet up about a 1/2" with a double mesh of metal window screen below it. It helps deflect the media and it stays clear much longer. I would love to have a larger cabinet but the cost escalates quickly with size. another trick is to blast with the shop lights off.

Once I tried to use wet beads in my vibratory polisher. When water gets added they settle and pack together tight. A lot like beach sand, but worse. I think keeping it mixed will be the biggest challenge

So the valve cover alone was $300-$500 of the car's value. I agree the car is salvageable but it becomes more economically practical if the VIN is lower

Just curious. If it was a real low number car I could see it being worth it. I hate seeing any Z get parted out but from the looks of the quarters there is a lot more rust in there.

Maybe, It will depend on how you mount it and where neutral twirl is. I built my rotisserie for more than just this project and the extra height helps me not worry about contact.

On mine, when I rotate the roof down, I only have 5" or so of clearance from the center bar...

On my rotisserie the center point of rotation is 41" above the bottom bar. I have a bar that runs the full length to keep the ends tied together. In the rear, the pivot is about 7" below the rear deck lid and about 9" above the top edge of the bottom of the radiator support. The car is pretty neutral at these heights when fully stripped...

I guess what I was looking at was how much to get a casting. If it's 12-14k for a complete motor I can save a lot of that because I can do most of the lower end myself and some of the upper end too. If it's 12-14k in the head, that's a different story!
