Dished pistons for NA?
my 2 cents... Don't get distracted by the turbo, if you savings account is shallow, then turbo is not the way to go. It takes money to go this route... I would go flat top for sure and don't be lazy! Use some of the good online engine calculators to figure out what you will have when you're finished. Figure out what compression you want to run and how to get there. You are gonna have to spend some money to build the motor and if your dollars are as limited as mine then it would be a shame to spend that money and not end up with what you want...especially for just a little home work. Read some of the engine build threads for Diseazd he has built a number of engines...

@PKD You need to start a thread for your car and show us what's been done. Looks fairly heavily modified: turbo, manifold, fuel rail, intercooler, etc. We like pics because some of us don't read so well. By the way if you're ever in the upstate PM me and you can swing by the house...

Throttle Cable Upgrade - All The Way To The Pedal?
I'm confused! If I understand correctly the threaded section goes through the firewall with an aluminum section on one side and a fender washer and lock nut on the other side of the firewall. How do you get it installed? I would think the ball socket end would interfere with assembly and disassembly

Caswell Plating
I totally understand and agree! My wife and her best friend are both chemist, but that still hasn't help me get repeatable results. It can't be as hard as I'm making it or commercial plating would be far more costly.

Does anyone have an inside line at Nissan to get them to put this on the list to remanufacture? Almost all of the bushings I have been buying lately are new bushings, made this year or last year...

I bought a 10 amp CC/CV variable power supply for about $75. I agree the window for good results seems to be kind of small. It can also be hard to figure out how to adjust the process based on results to get to where you want to be...

@David F Feel free to post your experiences here... also Blue chromate helps the parts maintain their corrosion resistance without leaving raw zinc exposed, not need for lacquer...

Did you ever finish all your plating?

I wondered about that. You can overdo the brightener too which will evidently make your plating dull. I haven't seen or figured out a way to determine which side of optimum my brightener level is at currently...

Three of our five vehicles are salvage, but I rebuilt them myself. If you trust them and you feel like they do good work you should be ok. You could always take the car to your mechanic to look it over... Just remember salvage should be about 80% of blue book...

It's been a year so I am back at it again. I did some plating a week or so ago and the parts are serviceable but not like I have been able to do in the past. The parts were dull and didn't brighten well in the Blue Chromate So I filtered my plating bath today and checked Ph's on all of the tanks. My plating bath is at 4 Which is a little low on Ph so I have to bring that up some. It needs to be between 5.5-6 I wired the plates to shine them up some... Old blue Chromate is 2.5 Yellow chromate is 1.5 My pre-treat pickle is 0.5 New blue is 2.0 but much darker than the old blue, we will see... I added a post plate acid dip to try to brighten my plate but it didn't help much. I also ordered a larger size of blue chromate and made up a fresh tank of blue chromate Unfortunately I was planing on plating next weekend but I left my crock pot of degreaser on for a week!!!! Made lava rock out of that solution. I am not even sure I can get the crockery clean..
