  1. It's a shame they shaved all the lights and gas door. It also looks like they cut in side exhaust below the rear bumper. Those mods really hurt the value of the car... Is the "clear no op" title an issue
  2. @joe newsom Now if we could just figure out a DIY for the Blue Chromate. It is pretty expensive and would allow for a larger dipping tank...

There are some blue chromate picures in my plating thread if someone would be so kind as to attach it... I agree there is some amount of luck needed to achieve repeatable results. I suspect it is just small scale production variation but still frustrating. I still prefer plating my own stuff just because it is simpler. Big items like brake lines are a real issue though...

  7. Looks like a comp wheel. What are your plans for it?
  8. $13,500 two days to go...
  9. Datsun Spirit is one of two shops I would really consider if I was looking for outside help. the other being Rebello. I would lean toward Datsun Spirit mainly because it's East Coast and closer, Eiji is very nice and Guy (Dizeased) speaks very highly of him..
  10. I had an 01 M roadster for a little while. It was silly fast. I love that motor. It is one of my favorites, so sexy...

Your best bet is Caswell for small quantities

  14. Dr.meter 4.2 out of 5 stars 189 Reviews Dr.meter 30V/5A Single-Output DC Power Supply 110V/220V Switchable with Alligator Clip included, US 3-prong Cable,PS305DM I thread all polished hardware on to 18g brass wire. I found that other materials are unpredictable and left pieces in the same soak dull Then dip in muriatic acid 50/50 distilled water until it quits fizzing. Rinsed in distilled bucket Per Joe Newsom Let hang into degreaser at 120 degrees until ready usually about 15 min. Rinsed in distilled bucket Load into zinc tank. Which is constantly heated to 75 degrees with one of submersible heater for fish tank. Loads were calculated to run at 5 amps the max my rectifier will do, for 15 min. Trying to remember to rotate in middle of load became challenge. Rinsed in distilled bucket Dipped into Blue Chromate for about 5-10 seconds Rinsed in distilled bucket Dipped into Yellow Chromate for about 15 seconds Rinsed in distilled bucket Yellow chromate I mixed myself using 10 oz of sodium dichromate which I bought cheaply on eBay and 1 oz sulfuric acid ( battery acid) to one gallon of distilled water. All other products were bought at Caswell Hope this helps. I really noticed the difference in the properties of the zinc by adding brightener at the beginning of each day I was going to zinc. Noticeably different outcome when I didn’t add it in the beginning of my day. @joe newsom So you pickle before you degrease and you wait for the fizzing to stop? I have degreased before pickling and I don't know whether to wait for the fizzing to stop or not. What causes the fizzing?
  15. This is the thread. I will copy and paste from your last post. Add what you like...
  16. What are you using for power supply? What are your plating times? Dip times? Are you using Blue Chromate? You could always post up your experience and methods in my Caswell thread for posterities sake
  17. Your plating looks really good!!!
  18. The arcing was from a larger vertical cylinder to an adjacent part. I assume that is a capacitor but who knows not my field of expertise. I would be glad to ship it to you for grins and giggles... The unit is pretty cheap about $65 to $70 shipped...
  19. I have found that salvage yards don't want to sell whole cars. Won't even consider it. The only exception to that I have seen was a 66 vette that was worth 200k finished so they found the title for that one...
  20. My only thought would be what voltage are you getting at the "dink" horn?
  21. Some people use shark hide instead of Diamond Clear. Media blasting is probably the way to go. I would clear it with Diamond clear or shark hide or even the aluminum VHT over oiling it. Just my 2 cents worth
  22. I dont know. Will be interesting to see who responds
  23. I was gonna respond with a saying about getting separated from your money, but thought better of that. This forum hates to see good parts and motors go to waste. Not likely to get a lot of support or feedback to help you destroy a good engine. Take care...
