  1. I didn't get that impression. I would be surprised if the head ran that much but possibly. The casting itself wouldn't be that expensive to make,, even with all the post casting treatment. The cams and associated parts shouldn't be cost prohibitive either. Maybe though...
  2. Is the 12-14k for a complete twin cam engine build? That is how I read it. That is is with non Variable Cam Timing...
  3. I figured 15k as my first guess. You did ok. There are a few little areas that need attention but very clean overall. Near the battery tray, go ahead and neutralize that rust, as well as the rear deck lid area. Also there is so slight bubbling in the front fenders but still very nice! Doors and jambs are clean. Under the hood clean and original finishes still evident. Nice find...
  4. @SteveJ @gwri8 Possibly bad battery or starter connections?
  5. But an SWB is pushing $8,000,000 !!!
  6. A Scarab is a very unique car. They tend to be very rare and one in great shape could bring this kind of money. Early year 240z's are bringing this kind of money and more if they are the right car in the right place...
  7. I was posing the question in general. I don't know the EFI cars that well. I will have to defer to some of the other guys.
  8. Would jumping from the fuse box to the battery fry anything? ECU, relays, injectors?
  9. Fuel pressure has nothing to do with this! The settings in the float bowls, tuning, carb balance do, not fuel pressure... Mark beat me to it...
  10. The parts for 510's make finding 240z parts, look easy in comparison. You could buy a complete car for not a lot of money more and be way better off! In my opinion the body with no suspension or drive train is worth a couple hundred bucks. Bare 240z shells bring about what this sellers is asking but the finished Z is worth significantly more when finished than a 510...
  11. Do you realize there are two slots? There is one with the bolt on top and one with a bolt on the bottom... Had to pick up "Captain Obvious's" slack...
  12. I would think any washer would work. Take the one off the other carb, with out dropping it, and match it up at the auto parts store
  13. I do not understand why you obsess over this fuel pressure. IT IS NOT THE ISSUE! I have been working on cars for close to 40 years. The issue is in the carb tuning somewhere
  14. Haven't done any more on the barrel for now...need a PS first I just ordered the "Monster" Looked at a bunch of power supplies and just decided I would try this one. The wires are gonna add to your plating area. You will have to include them in your calculation. They will also increase your plate useage
  15. When you going back..?
  16. I thought you might be when I saw your pants with the reflective strips. By the way Jeff, love the new bug. I have a "one owner" 56 bug my dag bought new in Germany waiting for it's turn. Next in line after the Z currently on the rotisserie...
  17. It looks like a North American site, but what is the currency? Edit: SA Rand; I wonder what freight would run you? Seems like it would be really high. Could just buy a few chemicals and be good to go...
  18. As an FYI Cody will be 18 yo by Zcon 18 can I register him as a child? Does that affect his making laps? I don't think he would autocross but might like to make laps at the track day in a controlled environment.
  19. Bend the the tap upwards, away from the floats a very minor amount. This will make the valve close sooner and lower the fuel level in the float bowl
  20. If we get it properly sorted he would probably love to make laps in the 510... I thought I might register the 510 and hopefully the 240 if I can get it running by then. Might register the 350Z too. That would be my three cars. Signing his life away is not an issue as we have had to do that multiple times in the past. He would love brewery night but that might be frowned upon... So even as a guest or a child registrant they still can participate in all the activities. Any limitations to that, that you know of?
  21. Steve, I had some questions and I was gonna PM but I decided a public inquisition might be better. Ok, so if I register as the main registrant what is the drawback of registering Shelley as my guest registrant? Cody would like to come too. If I register him as a child will he be able to participate in all the events. Any limitations on that?
