  1. Be sure all the throttle plate screws are still in place...
  2. I like the louvers. I know some don't but they make the car much cooler when it gets hot outside...although in the Great White North, that may not be an issue

  4. Just remember there are no free lunches. It takes horsepower to turn that alternator. The more power you need the more HP it takes...

No, there is the Datsun script that is the same as the fenders. I can source it, but there is also a 510 badge that goes on the hatch... I think it looks like the lower one here...

We messed with the car some more. We have gotten the water out of the engine and we can turn it by hand but it's very tight. Took the carbs off and will try to clean them up. The battery charged up. So if I can get it loose enough we will move on to check spark...
  7. I suspect the holes they added in the rear pan also help with air flow at the back of the car
  8. That looks like money...

I am looking for a good clean Datsun 510 rear hatch emblem. It's for a Christmas present. Part # 79821-A2600. I have not seen them new... @zKars
  10. Not to be a distraction or to clutter the thread but does anyone know if these are used the same way on the 510 wagon hatch?
  11. Hardway I am in for a set maybe two...
  12. Yes, a voltmeter. Yes, you should get battery voltage on both sides of a fusible link...many times they are bad with no visible damage.
  13. You need a meter, visual inspections won't do it...
  14. I don't don't think Zed Head was implying deception. I think he was implying it could be perceived this way. If you look at Zed Head's post over the years, this doesn't fit the M.O.
  15. and that is a serious concern. I suspect fraud was the intent from the beginning, to raise the cars value. I can still see reasons for taking two cars and creating one, where it's legal...
  16. So the paint thinner was enough to remove the overspray. I am surprised you didn't need lacquer thinner or something stronger...
  17. Very pretty. Might be nice if you could engrave the choke symbol on it...
  18. What technique did you use to clean the lockset? It turned out good...
  19. The rear hatch is a hard panel to fix right. The metal is really thin and you have to have a light touch to shape it properly. It is also easily damaged. Once that metal gets stretched it is hard to get it to shrink up properly. Shrinking disc or torch maybe, but you have to be really careful to not make it worse...
  20. Zed Your first two images both show springs on both sides of the valve. So you would think it would self center, but as gunky as these can get, who knows. I have never disabled one...
  21. My wife loves that stuff! Use it on the stainless cookware all the time...
  22. I like that chrome powder coat. That seems to work pretty good...
  23. Don't tell @Diseazdthat! Go ahead and try to get the title straight now, it may take some time. I took me 3 years to get a clear title on a car I bought out of NY. If you can great. If you can't you know it's a parts car for sure. It gets harder every year to get these kind of issues straightened out at the DMV. They would really prefer these vehicles weren't on the road at all, I believe...
  24. What is the deal with the shifter? Is it automatic? It doesn't seem like it has a shift pattern just up or down...
  25. I agree with rturbo 930 The best you can do is locate a car with a similar VIN and see if the engine installed in each has a similar number. Even that is not conclusive because the engines weren't installed sequentially...
