  1. Nothing groundbreaking in the article that even a casual Datsun Z enthusiast would already know. All it does is bring the speculators and flippers out of the woodwork to drive original part prices even higher into the stratosphere. Five years ago I thought I was nuts forking over 50 bucks for a NOS 4-speed shift knob. Today I've seen some for quadruple the price.
  2. What's the cat litter for?
  3. Real nice find! I really loved that body kit as a teenager By the looks of the DoD vehicle decal on the windshield, it was once owned by a junior enlisted person.
  4. A scam is being perpetrated by one of the CL sellers, of course. My money is on the California post as being the bogus one and Canada as being legit. The California post has a too low asking price. Also, the post claims the car has been in California its whole life. If you look closely and the picture below, the lettering of the license plate is too light in color from that period.
  5. Or... You can buy the exact same car in California for a lot less https://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/6137818301.html
  6. The stock 240Z license plate lamp (as shown) housing have metal shield blocking the bulbs from directly shining down to the bumper. I'm not sure if the 280Z setup is similar.
  7. Put a small piece of electrical tape on the lenses that will cover the filament part of the bulbs just allowing the light around the edges get through. This should mitigate the refection caused by the bumpers.
  8. Here's a photo of mine FWIW
  9. My estimation is late 1971 or early 1972. Build date of my current car is 11/71 and it has the one in the upper-left of the photos with a chain connected to the base ring. A 1972 had I owned back in the 80s had a handle and chain configuration.
  10. Alright, sounds like you're in a rush then. If the backing is still good on your current panels, then skins from Les might be an option at $275. We now have available door skins for the door panels on your 240Z. These are a very nice reproduction of the original pattern and can be installed on your existing door hard boards. Send us your complete panels and our factory will install the new skins. http://www.classicdatsun.com/
  11. MSA is selling reproductions at $369/pr, but they are on backorder for a couple of more weeks. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic08h02a01/40-2096 They also offer a discount to members of http://www.classiczcars.com
  12. Yeah...it's not my first color of choice, but it might be his:
  13. And while arguing with us on a price you feel comfortable with, the vehicle will be sold to someone else who's more decisive.
  14. Why are you posting the same question again from last Friday??? Let's cut to the chase and please tell us what answer you are truly looking for.

  16. Another vote for Hagerty! I was paying USAA over $281 dollars annually for a 29 year old motorcycle that I might put 500 miles a year on at most. Hagerty covered it for $55 bucks a year.
  17. Looks good in the picture. How difficult was it to remove the carburetor gaskets and long black seals? I'm going to do the same thing with mine, but spray clear over the decals to prevent peeling.
  18. The gavel fell on this one for a cool $36,000 on BaT. http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1976-datsun-280z-3/
  19. You won't find it there. The exterior color code is a foil decal on the radiator support. As for the interior color, there is no identifier.
  20. Even this very lightly modified 280Z is bringing good money on BaT: http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1976-datsun-280z-3/
  21. Sold for $29,250. That's pretty good coin for a restomod.
  22. Probably serious bidders are laying low ready to pounce in the seconds of the auction.

  24. My very first 240Z when at 16 years old was the same color. It had vinyl roof and was an automatic The car looks to be in very good order. Not the most desirable color, but the modifications are tastefully executed. I suggest looking at what comparable 240Zs sold for on Bring a Trailer, and base your selling price accordingly. http://bringatrailer.com/search/240z/ In fact, you may want to consider placing the car up for auction on BaT. It will get good exposure and the scrutiny from a knowledgeable community.
  25. I agree! And spare parts should be cheap and plentiful
