  1. For starters, I would invest in one of these: http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result?q=stethoscope From the sound of it, there could be a loose component like a exhaust heat shield causing the noise. I had a mystery rattle at around idle to about 2,000 rpm from the engine bay of my Honda. It turned out to be the plastic grommet broke loose from the base of my hood prop rod that attached to the fender.
  2. #10 answers the reason for the unoccupied stripper pole in the showroom. The "hostess" must have been in back with a customer showing off the aftermarket options package.
  3. I wouldn't accept the car if given to me for the mere fact that both air cleaner wingnuts are not in the 3 and 9 o'clock position
  4. Here are few photos of another example from the MSA show in 2002. If memory serves me correctly, the car was for sale for around 22-24K
  5. Take a look at the pedals for excessive wear, especially the clutch. The automotive equivalent of looking at a horse's teeth to determine its age.
  6. I'm not OCD enough to overly examine and find fault with the vehicle To me, the story of a gentleman being rewarded for a lifetime of helping others by restoring something he cherished is what I took away from watching it. Regardless whether it is a 240Z or a Yugo.
  7. I saw this episode about six month ago.
  8. この「サーフアイランダース」は、阿部氏の声掛けて近年再結成され、ライブ活動をされているとのこと。 Nissan had a house band called the "Young Nights" that would play at corporate parties? That would have been quite the sight
  9. I'm assuming the person who came up with the ad was thinking a Datsun Z would be an more ominous presence than an AMC Pacer.
  10. They pop up on eBay often. Check there. Also... Here's a link for a new recreation: http://www.cafepress.com/+datsun_license_plate_frame,1674835905?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=pla-google&utm_campaign=640267615-d-c&utm_content=27654325330-adid-93474800290&utm_term=pla-70877483050-pid-1674835905

  12. To receive BBB accreditation, a business pays an annual dues based on the location and number of employees . Perhaps in the case of Hagerty, they have not chosen to pursue it. I believe it is more of a marketing decision rather than a ploy. The business model of BBB is to give a customer a venue to advertise their service and leverage BBB's 77% consumer brand recognition and its search engine optimization services. http://www.bbb.org/greater-maryland/for-businesses/about-bbb-accreditation/ "BBB accreditation does not mean that the business’s products or services have been evaluated or endorsed by BBB, or that BBB has made a determination as to the business’ product quality or competency in performing services. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation."
  13. Hopefully you won't have to file a claim with Infinity. https://www.expertinsurancereviews.com/insurance-company-reviews/infinity-insurance-review/ " Infinity takes a big hit in terms of reputation right off the bat when we pull up the BBB record for the company. The rating from the BBB is a dismal D, which is really low for a major insurer. It might, in fact, it’s one of the worst ratings I’ve seen for a large insurance company – or one of any size. " I use Hargerty, who fares much better overall. https://www.expertinsurancereviews.com/insurance-company-reviews/hagerty-insurance/ " Hagerty is not BBB accredited, but they do have an A+ rating. There are only a total of four complaints in the past three years, and there have been no complaints in the past year. For a big insurance company, these numbers are very impressive. "
  14. I still recall a time when Black Dragon was Victoria British, Limited, and I would fill out their catalog order form and pay by check sent via snail mail. Even when they went online, ordering using a PDF catalog was kind a hassle, but I still obtained my fair share of parts from them As a consumer, it not a winning proposition when the number of parts supplier dwindle as Z cars seem to be appreciating. Enjoy the bargain hunting while it lasts.
  15. Unfortunately, as I predicted, the reserve was not met. I believe part of the problem is there have been quite a few early Z cars put for auction on eBay as of late. It seems the supply of modified cars are plentiful, while most discriminating buyers are looking for something more stock. My opinion is that most buyers who are willing to spend in the neighborhood 20K or more for a modified mint 240Z would be looking for a vehicle with a Robello Stroker or RB26DETT motor. Also, the more personalized the modifications, the smaller the pool of serious buyers. That said, I would suggest posting a car of this caliber on Hemmings Motor News or Collector Car Trader Online so it targets a more selective audience. Putting the car up for auction on a website like eBay where I can also purchase a 12-pack of tube socks is a disservice to a fine car.
  16. It's ebay so.... Reserve Not Met or the first buyer flakes.

  21. Hi Mark, Nice to see another person who appreciates both the 240Z and MR2 like I do I'm currently restoring the 1972 240Z pictured below. It is a rust-free car with 41,000 original miles and should be out of the paint shop soon. I have more photos of the car in my gallery http://www.classiczcars.com/profile/1276-datsunzguy/?do=content&type=gallery_image&change_section=1 I am kicking around the idea of selling it when done.
  22. DatsunZGuy replied to Patcon's topic in Internet Finds
IMHO...the low VIN is appealing, but the condition, lack of originality really just not justify the asking price. You'd be out close to 100K to put the vehicle to right.
