For sale - 1972 Datsun 240z -$23,900 or best offer
During the recent auction for a blue Series 1 resulting in the reserve was not being met, I saw posts that were personal attacks and not germane to the subject. The auction thread was peppered with entries marked as, comment not constructive. It appears there is a common group of fanatical Z silverbacks on BaT with the predisposition to throw poo at each other when a mint example goes on the block ? Unprofessional conduct does nothing to help an auction and denigrates the comrade of the Datsun Z community.

For sale - 1972 Datsun 240z -$23,900 or best offer
It is sad to see how a couple of those "expert" posters with ulterior motives will dominate the dialog on a 240Z auction and denigrate a car for the sole intent of promoting their own vehicles. You are wise not to post on BaT, as your car would be in the cross hairs of the verbal elementary school food fights that is now so common each time a good 240Z is posted.

Bring a Trailer has been a real meat grinder when it come to snarky comments from the 240Z peanut gallery there. Best have a thick skin and and a Nomex fire suit if it gets posted on that venue. IMHO....sit on the car until the weather warms up, Christmas credit card bills have been paid and tax refunds are in a prospective buyer's pocket.

Which rear spoiler
My two biggest regrets: tattooing my ex-wife's first name on my bicep and installing a rear spoiler on my first 240Z ? Keep the back slick.

What is the best way to sell a 1970 240 Z?
Bring a Trailer is a good venue. However, that group of prospective buyers tend to be very needy in the information department. Be prepared to have a solid understanding of the car you are selling. I mean history of the vehicle, any previous body work, condition of the mechanical, etc... Be prepared to include lot of pictures in the post, to include the obligatory shots of the battery box and doglegs. You will be asked a myriad of questions and be expected to answer them promptly. I have also seen many auctions where strong personalities with their own agendas dominate the discussion on a vehicle driving the dialog off the rails. That said, if you do not want all the hassle, try advertising on Hemmings Motor News first and see where that goes. Good luck.

Do you read Playboy or race a Datsun? What sort of man are you?.
I bought every issue hoping someday I'd find a sudoku puzzle.

A sign of the times?
Just imagine how the 240Z would have been received if it had an LS swap.

1972 240Z Vintage Z Program Car up for Auction on BaT
Speaking of VZs, I found these shots of a program car on display I took back in 2002 at the MSA show in Orange, CA. If my memory serves me, it was for sale at the show in the mid 20K range. I don't believe Gunderson Nissan was one of the authorized original Vintage Z car resellers. Being this was taken a few years after they were first sold, I wonder if it spent part of its life as a showroom display or maybe was traded in for a 300ZX and brought to the show to find a buyer. I wish I had taken a photo on the VIN.

Fuel tank is out, Any opportunities to do something else?
I'm so glad this website is still up ? http://woodworkerb.com/home/datsun-240z-rebuild/general-tips-tricks/ There is good deal of restoration tips to include the fuel tank and hoses. It even has a section on replacing your broken or worn choke cables with piano wire.

Fuel tank is out, Any opportunities to do something else?
It's all relative, I guess ? I'd hate to tell you what I paid for a complete braided hose kit for the engine bay at JDM Car Parts online. ?

Fuel tank is out, Any opportunities to do something else?
I did the POR 15 route on my tank and painted it. Before re-installing it, I bought a new sending unit and had all the fuel hoses replaced using the kit below: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240z-braided-fuel-hoses-complete-kit-with-clamps-for-entire-fuel-system/303199535108?hash=item469819c004:g:rioAAOSwkx5XEF-n The kit came with bent hoses to avoid having to improvise.

1971 240z Refurbish in Denver
Welcome to the forum. Don't know you paid for it, but looks like a gem definitely worth keeping in stock condition. Did old lady down the street give you any specific reason for the car's decades long hibernation? My guess is the 3rd gear syncro was going out and her husband never got around to addressing it. It might worth opening the gearbox and taking a look. I use to live in Denver off of 6th and Quebec back in the early 1990s, and recall seeing a red 240Z in the area. Maybe it was this one.

HLS30-00640 Up for Auction on eBay
It's sad to see such an early car in such deplorable condition. For the longest time these vehicles were seen as disposable and fell pray to adolescent whims and abuse. I plead guilty to hammering a few Z cars in my youth. I applause those who saw beyond that and preserved the ones that are quickly approaching the half-century milestone.

New to the forum, 240Z with most dealer options
Very nice car. It's just missing just one more important option to complete the ensemble: a vinyl roof ? My very first 240Z was brown/butter scotch automatic with a faux aligator-skinned 3/4 vinyl top.
