  1. Perform a search on Thermosteel. This stuff might do the trick.
  2. Nice find and the best color, too The refresh should be fairly easy and from the looks, it's later 1972 model. Also nice to see the PO opted to Ziebart or Tuff-Kote it years back.
  3. Given the type and quality of the other items in the estate, I would assume the paint job isn't Maaco grade.

Have you tried Banzai Motorworks or Distinctive Industries? http://www.zzxdatsun.com/ http://www.distinctiveindustries.com/catalog/1970-1973/644
  5. "Life without endeavor is like entering a jewel-mine and coming out with empty hands." - Japanese Proverb Thank you Mr. K for a wonderful life, and bestowings us all with the jewels of your inspiration. Blessing of love, respect and peace to you and your family.
  6. Do a search on this website and you shall find... http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/50815-trying-to-figure-out-how-much-to-ask-for-my-z/?hl=hagerty
  7. "It's all original and rust free!"
  8. The padded headliner of the 240Z was specifically designed to mitigate the adverse effects of multiple episodes of blunt force trauma to the female passenger's cranial region when she engages in vigorous and unrestrained sexual exploits with the male driver within the confines of the vehicle. Although this activity was not envisoned by the Nissan engineers, it is a welcomed side benefit.
  9. I still have a pair in wrappers. I assume the part number is the same for left and right?
  10. Many years ago, as a teenager, I had a Z with a pristine dash. One day, the clock stopped working and I decided to give the top center guage pod a good slap to hopefully get it ticking again. I think you all can figure out the rest
  11. The short answer is that a highly modified car will be of less value than stock in the longrun. I would argue it would cost more money to bring a raceday Z back to stock than the other way around. Try doing a search history on Ebay to compare active and completed auction prices of stock versus modified example in similar condition. That should provide you with an initial baseline of value for comparison.
  12. It is reassuring and somewhat vindicating to see a solid example fetch that price. However, part of me hopes the early Z market does not get too exuberant attracting speculators, who will start driving up the cost of parts even higher than they are now. I felt kind of foolish a few years ago paying $50 for a 4-speed shift knob from Courtesy Nissan to keep as a spare. I looked on ebay today and was floored to see the same part going for triple the price! This makes me want to store the original NOS exhaust system I been hoarding under my bed for safe keeping
  13. I was figuring the Z would sell for about half the claimed restoration cost. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/50351-1970-240z-for-sale-stunning-restoration/?p=458429 Looks like the (former) owner got that...as well as a fair comission for the selling agent.
  14. I believe this is the same vehicle I pointed out sold on ebay yesterday.
  15. Well...after a few failed attempts on ebay (item: 281544553219) , it appears the car finally found a buyer at $49,340.00. The trick seemed to be removing the reserve price. The final auction amount was well within the coveted Gold Medallion and the Nissan Commemorative Z territory.
  16. I might be dating myself but... As a teenager, 10 bucks would get the fuel gauge on my Z to read close to 3/4 full
  17. :: So funny and true.
  18. My first Z was a '73 in the same brown w/butterscotch color combo. It also had the extra sexiness of an auto trans and black vinyl roof Those were the days!
  19. Amen. I for one would like to see our Z's remain an affordable classic and value not dictated by speculation and whim of the non-purists, whose only interest is a good ROE. How many stock 67-68 Mustang fastbacks were customized during the Eleanor craze?
  20. Check to see if they have a rep in your area and get a quote. http://www.wecanfixthat.com I've seen some of their repair work firsthand and it's impressive.
  21. It's hard to say without any pictures to determine the extent of rust, what's missing in terms of original parts. The lack of original engine/trans doesn't help the value.
  22. More time means more attention, which could translate to increased premiums. I'd rather be flying under the radar
  23. I recently purchased a home on a horse property. Behind the detached garage, there is an attached guest quarters. I converted that to my home office and workout room. I added a WiFi repeater to allow for internet connectivity from the main house.
  24. I believe one of the watershed moments for Japanese sports car market was when a 1967 Toyota 2000GT hit the over million dollar mark at auction. I understand the Toyota is more rare, but it made the collectors take notice, and to speculate what cars of similar appeal might be under-valued sleepers.
  25. This is just another indicator of income inequality’s impact on different markets and how it fuels speculation. Are these buyers truly enthusiasts or just people with disposable income with a passing fancy? Part of me is grateful to see Japanese sports cars increase in value. It is an affirmation to those who held the belief these cars were highly underrated when compared to the monikers from Europe and the US. However, the dramatic increase in value will prove detrimental and price those with limited income out of the market, not to mention ridiculous prices for restoration parts.
