I can hear it now. "Back in the day, you could pick up a good rolling shell for $1000. I remember one in Raleigh. I had enough parts to finish it too".
  2. That's definitely his car. The Georgia plates give it away.
  3. I know who placed the bid. He was at the ZCON in Memphis. I believe this G Nose was his car.
  4. Looks like it just broke 6 figures..

and I like it that way...
  6. With the calipers they went with, if it was rear trailing it would hit the strut tube. So I’m guessing they were forced to pick forward. Parking brake Caliper goes on the top. For now it’s a wilwood. It’s been a long time since I installed something that was this easy and thought out.
  7. Been making some progress over the past few weekends. My coated MSA header arrived so I went about mocking it up on the engine. Upon initial test fit of the intake with the header I noticed it was a pretty tight fit. Then once I attempted to install the water outlet base, it would not line up. I knew I would need to shave off a little material to keep the intake and header from touching along with removing some material from the base of the water outlet. A little time with the grinder solved all my problems. I did a few rounds of grind, test fit, and grind a little more as I did not want to remove anymore material than was absolutely necessary. The end result was achieved with everything fitting in its proper location with no touching or interference between parts.
  8. Finally we made these brackets that DOES NOT require any cutting or modification to fit 240Z bumpers. In Japan, all the cars made between 1969-1978 have early 240Z bumpers. However for US market, Nissan did heavy body modification to clear strict "5 mile-bumper" rule and fitted bog bumpers. These kit give those who wants to have JDM/Euro look to their car an option! Precision cut, bend, and drilled by latest technology using OEM gauge metal. http://jdm-car-parts.com/products/240z-front-bumper-conversion-bracket-kit-for-us-1974-78-datsun-260z-280z http://jdm-car-parts.com/products/280z-rear-bumper-bracket-conversion-kit-for-us-1974-78-datsun-260z-280z-late-s31 These will be available from Motorsport Auto from this week!
  9. Punchline: In this unique case, the G in G-nose stands for Grille. Yes. It's a genuine Fairlady ZGrille.
  10. That may be so but I imagine Stoptech has very big shelves . About 3 months ago I was quoted $3000 for all 4 corners and $350 for the parking brake calipers and adapters. I didn't have the cash then but maybe when I sell one of my toys, will be very interested to hear what Duffy has to say when he gets his car on the road.
  11. I loved that car when I saw it at ZCON Memphis 2015! The old Hoover Bag:
  12. And... one has to love the originality of the bid amount!
  13. I was going to say, my neighbors backyard. Very common in my county. It's mostly agricultural or rural disticts? very few property rules.
  14. I figured it was his house. I didn't want to throw stones because my yard has similarities ☺️ Thats why I don't want another project
  15. I talked to the guy. It's not a junkyard, it's his house. Sometimes stereotypes are true...
  16. @kats Yes, I am mechanical designer but as a technologist, not a P. Eng., mainly in the mineral recovery area of the mining sector. Also a Van Halen fan in my teens during the pre Sammy Hagar era.
  17. I’d grab one from a salvage yard. I see them all the time when I find a Z. I’ll start grabbing them now that I know they’re so expensive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I'd put money that they're off the shelf calipers, otherwise could you imagine the costs involved?
  19. So if the brake system was engineered from the ground up for our cars then perhaps Stoptech has used constrictor valves in the rear calipers to reduce the flow to get the balance right for front to back pressure. Can't see too many serious track guys liking that situation but maybe ZCG offers a different option for track cars.
  20. ?Mike , thanks for sharing your story, you are an engineer of designing mechanical components, are not you ? In 1984 , Van Halen was so popular in Japan , I was a little teenager just dreaming about playing like him . His guitar has a BIG Tremoro Brock , Floyd Rose ? No matter how hard you up and down the arm , tuning won’t be Iosen . Kats
  21. The best place for the 240z
  22. I’m blown away by the level of fit and finish and engineering that went into the kit.
  23. Nothing but Gated Garaged Vehicles !!! The thrill of driving stick always puts a huge grin on my face .... 1973 240z (Viper Dark Green Pearl), 2005 Ferrari F430 (Rubino Micalizzato-Burgundy Pearl), 2002 Ferrari F360 (Rossa Corsa-Red), 1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo (Red), 2010 370z (Black Cherry).
  24. But remember only dirty hippies with no money drove VW Kombi van's back in the day. Demographics change of course and so does the wealth of certain groups. Exactly, which is why finding a good original example is so difficult. Hence why they will command a premium and hold their values in my opinion. Originality is often what is desired in collector car markets. I don't see many truly original survivors these days.
