DISCLAIMER: I did this on a '71 240z - I cannot confirm this works for later models. Preliminary Notes: In searching for new weather-stripping, I came across many forum posts recommending late 90's to early 2000's Kia Sportage weatherstrips. In some of the comment sections there was mention of McMaster-Carr, and one thread dedicated entirely to this stripping. I followed exactly what the guy did in his post, so I am ripping him off, however I thought it'd be worth making a post of my own not only to back up his findings, but also to (hopefully) give this weatherstripping a bit more publicity. Now, I originally had Precision's weatherstripping set, h…

Having bought some more paint recently at eye watering prices, I am considering getting a pro level gun. Tried to do some googling but kept finding the same useless info. Does anyone have any recommendations? Sata, Iwata, DeVilbiss, Tekna, etc...

Good news is, the tail light gaskets on my 72 are in very good shape, they look just as good as the brand new ones I ended up leaving in their wrapping. Bad news is, the lights aren't as fortunate. Anyone dealt with this before? Any advice would be good, be it replacing the lights, using some sort of filler between the flange and gasket or just about anything else. The metal overlay trim that fits over the lights is in great shape so I'm not sure how they got so bad, but speculation won't get me anywhere. Thanks, everyone.

I was in the process of removing my fenders to clean out the dirt underneath and check for rust. Then I realized these side skirt things I have are riveted on, smh.. Guess the only way would be to drill the ~20 rivets out through the body, just curious if anyone else has this piece installed? Maybe it was a dealership option or a previous owner did it, but what a pain..

1973 240z Looking to see if someone could measure from the inside center of the spare wheel to the tail light panel center? Also a pic of the backside of the tail light panel like the ones in pic and underside it would be greatly appreciated! Looks like someone replaced the panel and not sure if the underside is supposed to be spot welded looks like a gap there everything lines up fine on outside debating if I should leave it or repair it. If anyone has any advice or experience let me know Thank you

The resurrection project continues to creep forward. I have just begun cleaning up the firewall and installing a couple of small patch pieces for minor rust through areas. I have all new grommets but noticed what appears to be some type of soft sealant around the firewall holes. Was there originally some type of adhesive/sealant around the grommets, cylinder mount areas? If so ,would the 3M product # 3602-black super weatherstrip adhesive-be good choice. I have used that messy stuff with good success on other areas with weatherstripping, etc. Or, should we just install the grommets as is and call it good? Thanks again for any input, John-Lugoff, SC.

Hello, I am currently restoring a 1977 280Z and I am thinking about reinforcing the car. Does anybody have experience with the Front Fender Braces from Apexengineered (https://www.apexengineered.com/store/p67/Front__Fender_Brace.html)? Or are there any other braces that are more beneficial than the ones for the fenders? JagoBlitz

I am in the process of selling my 76 280Z 2+2. Recently I had a brake line leak that was fixed but I believe caused a rust issue. I am attaching a photo of the concerned area. For reference it is about the size of a baseball. I have seen some replacement pieces for sale, I think that are welded on, for a fix. However, it appears to me that these pieces are more cosmetic than structural. I do have access to a good welder so welding is an option. Thoughts/Comments/Suggestions.

Has anyone not run front wipers, and if so, did you plug the holes in the cowl? I won't purposefully drive in the rain, and I plan to put Rain-X on the windshield in case I get caught in the rain. I wouldn't mind losing the weight of the wiper motor and assembly, and don't see a reason to keep everything when I'm likely not going to use them at all. I also have a muscle car that I've had for years and have probably run the wipers twice in the last 10 years. I think it might look funny just leaving the holes in the cowl open. Thoughts?

Last night I tried popping my hood open, with no luck. I figured I'd have to get it up in the air today and try prying the latch as mentioned in many other threads. But, somehow it did open, luckily. So while removing and cleaning the hood latch, checking the cable, I decided to add an emergency cable, just in case the original fails. First I bought a $2 hook and wire leader from Walmart, 60 lb test, about 34" long, and removed hook and beads. . Drilled an 1/8" hole in the top of the swiveling cable end connector, on the firewall side so it won't bind up with real cable. Fed the small cable loop up through the hole, then big loop through small loop. …
