Z DOWN!!! Zed needs a hand.
You need the 1.5 coil without the ballast is their recommendation. On the website it’s pretty straight forward. Number 1 position on the 123 is in the 5 position on their cap. Different I understand but that’s how they set it up. Bring it to top dead center drop it in and turn it clockwise until the led lights and your set.

Electric fan or new fan clutch/shroud for my 240z?
If you have it blowing the wrong way it’s going to make a huge difference. Check that before anything else.

Electric fan or new fan clutch/shroud for my 240z?
Never answered the question if the front fan was pushing air or pulling. Which direction is the electric fan blowing? Hard to give help if you don’t respond to the questions asked.

Headlight switch problem- 1978 280z
Can we just be thankful folks out there are trying to keep these S30’s alive . It’s going to come to a point where parts are dwindling far more than they already have. Personally speaking for myself I am thrilled that innovative ideas arrive and we can move forward. Once they do or do not fail we all learn from it and continue to improve. My 2 cents.

Electric fan or new fan clutch/shroud for my 240z?
Is it pushing or pulling air? If it’s not pushing air through the radiator you’re fighting the engine fan trying to pull air. Make sense.

Electric fan or new fan clutch/shroud for my 240z?
I saw the pics you posted of the larger fan. Not sure you are getting the proper air flow with it being too large for the opening you are trying to push air to. Just asking to make sure, did you purchase a pusher fan? The fan I recommend was around $85 and reversible.

Rough cold idle then smooths out
You seriously need that gauge to monitor the system. You will find yourself going down a rabbit hole. Fuel pressure and monitoring the gauge is key to diagnosing issues on the 280. I can’t make any determinations without seeing what the fuel system is doing.

Rough cold idle then smooths out
What’s your fuel pressure reading beyond the filter? Have you installed a gauge yet? If not that would be the first thing on the list.

What’s my first move??
This is a rats nest that was created by the previous owner in my opinion. Moving forward without repairing each circuit is asking for serious issues to the harness and devices within. Start with the basics and repair what’s been butchered previously. My opinion,

Electric fan or new fan clutch/shroud for my 240z?
That fan is way too large besides being expensive. Here’s one that fits nicely on the Ac condenser. Pushes air while the factory fan pulls air.

Electric fan or new fan clutch/shroud for my 240z?
My suggestion would be to install an electric pusher fan on the condenser. Thermostat control sensor that comes on at 185 degrees. Mitsubishi has a 10” that fits perfectly. “MMFAN-10C”

Electric fan or new fan clutch/shroud for my 240z?
Replacing the clutch is a less expensive alternative. You might have other issues not related to the fan.
