'70 240Z MSD No Spark 280z Distributor, E12-80, 280Z Tach
The ZX distributor needs 1.3 OHMs primary resistance according to the FSM. Those Blaster 2s only have .7 OHM. I don't know what affect that will have but that's the reason I chose a Fireball PS20. They are 1.5 OHMs. Zed Head can explain it.

Mine had those same hard water deposits. They were especially bad at the rear, between 6 & 5. I used an ice pick and a straightened out clothes hanger to knock as much loose as I could. Did you remove the block drain on the driver's side? I think that's where you'll get the best flow for cleaning the block. I would crank my air compressor as high as I could and shoot air through the heads passages through that heater core outlet. The heads don't crud up as bad as the block, they don't hold water like the block does and they are aluminium. You should make sure and not get the head's passages stopped up with the stuff from the block. That plug at the rear of the head should be okay, I'd leave that one alone unless it looks to be in bad shape. I've never changed one of those.

I've found Scotch brand at Lowes hardware to be the best around here. It's not too stretchy when you go to tear it after wrapping. It cost a good bit more than the "logs" of tape but it comes in it's own plastic case which I use for electrical crimp fittings in my bag of electrical stuff.

My Dad called those a "deuce and a half" when he was in the National Guard and I was in diapers. It's an M35 2.5 ton cargo truck according to google.com. Check out that driveshaft and differential in the bed of it. I love looking at pictures! Curious to a fault usually but sometimes I learn stuff. Never heard of a Warner Swasey Hopto excavator my whole life, now I read where they help build alot of "Ike's Interstates" in the 50s.

I used these from O'reilly's, Sealed Power #381-8027. They had them the next morning from one of their HUB stores. I used the proper size socket, one that fits tightest inside the plug, with thick tape on the edges of the socket to keep from leaving scratches. The big one in the end I used a piece of wood and hammer to get it down flush with the block then tapped it the rest of the way with a hammer and 1/4" extension around the edges. They go down past the block about a 1/16" to the end of the chamfer. $11.49 http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/SPO0/3818027/02268.oap

View inside Fuel tank, previous coating?
I think it'll be fine too. Let it sit in the sun and bake a few days then slide it under a table or something for a couple of weeks. If you'll put a clear filter right out of the tank they'll catch whatever breaks loose then replace them, cheap and easy to do.

Egg on face! I never saw this picture. I don't think this will affect the way the car runs, only how hot it runs at. You need to put a clear gas filter coming out of the tank and see if it's crudded up. Fram G2 works better on a 240 in my opinion. Then adjust the carburetors the best you can. That's a whole other can of worms I don't feel like opening right now, it's Friday night and I gotta go daintcin'. Read through this thread,

Not acceptable.

Here's my best shot. Fuel injection cars have coolant running through a plate on the intake to heat the car up faster and all the cold starting stuff closes off. that hooks to the coolant entering the motor, one at the thermostat housing and the other at the lower radiator outlet, I deleted that from mine so they're plugged. A carbureted car has the coolant line running a little different. Here's entering the carbs intake at the rear and then leaving out at the front, into the thermostat. I think your valve cover hose is connected to the front carb through the coolant opening. I don't think that's all too bad? I also think your thermostat housing is connected to the lower radiator outlet, I don't guess that's all too bad either? If it were mine, I'd get a plastic fitting for under ground sprinkler system or something similar and put the valve cover hose on back of the air filter like this new one Then I would plug the thermostat and the rear of the cylinder head and the carbs intakes like what I did after a bunch of reading Well that's my effort explaining that now to see what you have. The head number is under the front two spark plugs The block number is under the rear two plugs I gotta go now, there's an old lady trying to walk across the street by herself.

Since you have carbs that L28 diagram won't work. You don't have that thermal heating plate before the air regulator. I'll post some pictures of what I did on my carbed L24. The block doesn't matter. It's the type of intake you have, fuel injection or carbs.

Datsun-240z Vs Fairlady-z432
That made ME nervous just watching but the drivers seemed very alert. Thanks for posting that, it's the closest I'll ever be to Japan. Do not touch! My Dad had something similar on an old beater VW bug when I was a kid, "Mafia Staff Car, keepa you hands off"

You are eliminating the small stuff that really affects the motor. Good time spent! Add dielectric grease to those connections or any type lube to keep them from oxidizing.

Water and beer. That's all a man needs. A little nooky is good too but with enough beer I don't care.

Well that's a plus if it has flat topped pistons. Dished are fine though as you are just starting out. Beat that hood out and get the driver's door to close. We don't want to hear a fixable tragedy. The motor is an easy fix, you getting flung out is not.

Would you be adopted? That'd be cool. But you look like Eric Roberts, Julia's brother. I think we have the same genes. Old dirty blue jeans as ZZ Top would sing.
