[2016] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
I put Nissan preformed hoses from the float chamber to the nozzle on my red 240 I'm getting ready to sale. Someone had put hard parts store fuel line on there. Adjusted the carbs and advanced the timing. Holy guacamole what a difference! Runs so much stronger and now have 100% operating SUs. The nozzle weren't dropping before today.

Chas I think you're right about the cable being full of tranny fluid. I remember a comment where a guy said he thought it was a bee sting on his ankle at first, then realized it was dripping from under the dash. The fluid had traveled up the cable that far. Mine is a recent 4 speed to a 5 speed swap so I'm hoping the round oil seal in the pinion gear housing will fix it. I still haven't done mine, spent Saturday with my Dad and half of today. He asked me to go to Church this morning.

What year did they put the vents into the hood? There's two out at the junkyard with solid hoods.

Okay, you've changed my mind. The mosquito bites I'd get at the JY aren't worth the trouble. Thank You.

1978 280z black pearl?
There really wasn't any black Zs except the BP until the ZX, right? I've always told people that when they say they "know of an original black Z in a barn" story.

Ha Ha! No, I was trying to be funny more than ironic in trying to convey that for me and you this is fun but for Mike it's work. I'm sitting here watching Married with Children, drinking coffee and waiting on my medication to ease in.

He's got me thinking about going out to the junkyard and finding a couple of tanks and cleaning them up and lining too. They are EFI tanks though but still, $200 to $250?

1972 Datsun 240z Clean Title---Sat Indoors 10+ years
$3,415!!! That's great. I might try Ebay for my '72. I've never sold anything on there. What would be your "take home" on that amount? Send me a PM if you have time and don't mind sharing that, please. Thanks. Cliff

I only see that on the home page which is never. I have mine set to open on the 24 hour activity but to each his own, I guess. I bet Mike's life is busy with work and kids, he said before this was his pet project. Maybe he could pimp out your Z knowledge and do away with all the adds? Like everything now has a customer service pop up that get's in the way until you close it. "How can we help you, do you need any assistance?" Then it would go to you for a $25 an hour charge. "You are speaking with Zed Head, please wait.... Zed Head is typing....please wait....please wait...."

I ordered just one, it was like $1.25 but when I went to get it he said I had to buy the hole pack. Of course I said "what the hell??" and he did say that was something new they have to do on non stocking parts. If he opened the pack for my one, the dealership would be stuck with 9 that would never sale. I think it's more the owner of the dealerships decision, I live in a small town. I'm gonna look for a top hat washer when I go after the oring tomorrow. I'll look for about 2 minutes in the Hillman drawers Lowes has, if I don't see one I'll shoot a little black RTV in there. Thank You!

I haven't done mine yet but I'll smear some type of lube around the oring before I shove it back into the transmission. And I also appreciate the rubber washer alternative. I kept telling my parts guy that it looked like a top hat and he says "Nooo, no, nooo".

So where's the seal I bought go? In the cable end or the speedo cog? I've read where a guy put in a seal like I bought and it still leaked a little. He wrapped the threads with teflon tape and stopped it. Just curious, I'll see when I get under there. Thanks again for those numbers.

I sure hope yours is what a bad one looks like. I just bought this one a week ago for $3.50 from my local dealership. It took a few days to get there from the DC in Irving Texas. The oring on the body, they wanted me to buy a pack of 10 so I had them send it back and I'll just get one from a hardware store. I'm planning on doing the swap this weekend and can let you know for sure. Thanks @Chickenman for the part number, he knew them right off, I didn't even have to look. https://www.google.com/search?q=32709-14600&rlz=1C1BOFA_enUS494US494&espv=2&biw=1280&bih=620&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjZgvW0-a7NAhXEKWMKHRbKBDIQ_AUICCgD#imgrc=_

Buying Datsun, Need Advice
Hopefully your right but seeing the pile of tumbleweed behind the rear and the stains around it on the driveway I think it's been outside maybe with a cover. It's nice and shiny!

That looks like a good car. I would buy it, sunroof and all. Somebody liked that car before it started running bad.

I guess it's tough call for you. You probably don't have a lot free time judging by that little one hanging from your shoulders. 8^) If you could find one for a couple hundred dollars I'd buy another one. Your time is worth more than mine. You'll get burnt out fooling with small stuff. If it were mine I'd carry it to a muffler shop and see what it would cost to cut it in half and beat the dents out then weld it back up. Muffler guys weld more than anybody around here, and they're better at it too.
