Discussion on idea for "air horn" fix
If you don't spread it the hood will probably not fit. The engine bay sides are bowing in from the car being on the rotisserie. Get it off the rotisserie and recheck it. I would block it up without using the front of the car. If you have to spread it you check measurements diagonally to say the hood latch to make sure it's square. Did you find the FSM diagram with the dimensions in MM?

That's a really bad idea! They are much stronger as tube type assemblies. If it was that easy to make it right, the factory wouldn't have gone to all the trouble in the first place. Always remember, car manufacturers are notoriously cheap. The don't install "extra" or "unnecessary" parts

Fuel injection snafu
Also I believe there is a chassis ground near where you're working. If you damaged it; it could make your lights wonky as the pump current looks for the path of least resistance. The "Sparkys" taught me that.

2018 Grassroots Motorsports Mitty
We meet a couple of guys that have been to a lot of Mitty's when they gave us a lift up one of the hills. They said there have been a number of bad wrecks in that area of the track. The cars can evidently get airborne and flip there. Especially if they try to pass...

I saw that car on Saturday. Looks like the wreck might have been on the back straight away...

Engine won't start
Yes.If the car fires up when using starter fluid, you have a fuel problem and the ignition is at least good enough to get it started.

Greg, It was amazing to watch how far into turn 1 you could drive before getting on the brakes compared to the rest of the field. It always looked like you were going to end up in the gravel. I agree, you were catching the 17 car every lap. I think with time you could have run him down. Seems like Sam built a nice car. Charles

check the 2 wire switch for continuity with a meter in each of the gears.

No!! The right amount will ultimately be determined by plug color and good running condition

Cody's Goon
I just went and did a compression test. I did it cold because I didn't want to run the car anymore until I have a little better hold on what's going on. #1 135 #2 120 #3 127 #4 135 Not conclusive, as the spread isn't that bad, but the middle two are low. Maybe a leaks in between the middle two?

Engine won't start
If you shoot a little starting fluid into each carb throat, will it fire over? It may be the fuel evaporated out of the carbs. It is hard to prime the fuel lines with the starter. Easier if the car fires over a couple of times...

Cody's Goon
So I pulled the plugs after work Pig rich and 1 & 4 are wet. Oil wet I believe. We cleaned them good and put them back in. Ran it at idle for 15 minutes or more. Never really warmed up. so I sent him around the block. He overheated in less than a mile turned around and got home. We still haven't looked to see how low it is. Looking for a pressure tester now...

Looking for advice on sequencing of restoration work
The hatch hinges have slots in them to help center the hatch. Also you may need to shim the hinges if the hatch isn't in the opening square

Where to go with this rusthole
Remake the pocket the way it is now. That is where the crossmember mounts. IE front suspension and motor mounts. It is two layers of material. The inside layer is probably gone too. The reinforcing plates are thicker material than the engine bay sides Somebody else just made these recently @wheee! @grannyknot

Where to find rubber bushings
Many of the rubber bushings are available new from Courtesy Nissan. They are very supportive of the older cars. There are a few spreadsheets floating around on the forum that list the bushing numbers
