  1. 1. Check your point gap and dwell if you are still running an original distributor. 2. Check your timing. Good luck!
  2. This might help: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showpost.php?p=202336&postcount=5
  3. I suggest contacting Distinctive Industires in Commerce, CA. I believe they supplied the seat vinyl for the Z Car restoration program years back. They might sell remnant material to you. http://www.distinctiveindustries.com/au.html
  4. Here's a thread on the subject I added my 2 cents on. It has the paint combo I used to restore my tail light panel and front grill. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13593&highlight=rear
  5. Nice shots! You can never go wrong with a silver 240Z.
  6. Well, the car didn't sell this go around. I'm kind of shocked that the best offer the seller got was $14,100. It might be smart to sit on the car until the economy improves and Americans discover the next bubble.
  7. Welcome! I would try to PM member Kats. Here's his website http://www.geocities.jp/datsunz903/

  11. It looks like part of an electronic ignition system to me.
  12. Hi Scott, I found this tool kit inventory list in my '72 (mfg. 12/71). As for the green strap, I have no clue
  13. Here's a post I did a few years ago which has a link to some Freeze 12: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showpost.php?p=133514&postcount=2 I just tested the URL and it still works!
  14. I restored a set a few years ago. I used gel paint stipper to remove the peeling finsh from the spokes and center caps. After a good dry and rinse, I applied quick release tape over the entire front part of the wheel and cut out the spoke centers with an Xacto knife. Then, I used Dupli-color dark argent wheel paint to refinish the centers. Finally, I used Mother's wheels cleaner and many hours of polishing by hand to get the shine back.
  15. Welcome to the forum! I currently own a '72 that I had shipped from Kansas to California. My main objective was to find a one owner, low mileage car with little or no rust. I got lucky on all counts. Like me, it sounds like you're the kind of person who parks their car a million away from other vehicles In late 1989, I bought a cherry red pearl 240SX hatchback when they first came out. I probably would still have if it wasn't for the fact that I got shipped overseas. Again, welcome and take advantage of the forum's seach function to find a lot of good advice. Most of us have been there and done that!
  16. Albeit not my 240Z, I swapped out the R-12 on my 1993 MR2 to Freeze 12 about a year ago. No problems with the switch and I am very satisfied.
  17. I removed my old R12 A/C system and will most likely opt for a newer R134 unit when the time comes. http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CP&Product_Code=240Z-AC
  18. Never used this company, but they do have special pricing for club members. http://www.restoration-specialties.net/Plating.htm

  22. Welcome to the forum. What do you mean by "make it better"? That's a pretty general statement. Is there an issue with misfiring, flooding, etc... Do you have dreams of going down the 1/4 mile in under 10 seconds? Details, please.
  23. the condition and seal of the rear taillight gaskets. In addtion, some owners also had good luck when they extended the tailpipe past the rear bumper a few extra inches.
