Richard, What year is your car? Knowing that will determine if the parts you seek are NLA. If that is the case, this site's classified section or eBay are your best options.
  2. Try running some Seafoam through your engine. http://www.seafoamsales.com/motorTuneUpTechGas.htm
  3. My first post contained a link to another post where I talked about the placement of the OK decal. In addtion, here is a jpeg of a note Mike at Banzai Motorworks sent me when I asked the same question.
  4. Here's a post on the subject I submitted a few years ago: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showpost.php?p=52484&postcount=3 Also attached are photos showing placment of the paint code and tune-up decals on my car I took this evening. Hope this helps! Ed DatsunZguy
  5. Here some information on the hood vent from Wick Humble's How TO RESTORE YOUR DATSUN Z CAR. This book is a must have
  6. I measured my exhaust pipe OD off an original unused NOS set hanging on my garage wall for my '72.
  7. Back in the early '90s I was a member of ZCCC. Back then, we were lucky to get a handful of Z cars together for an event. I took this picture back around 1992 (my car is the green one), when the club got together for a roadtrip. I think we went to Este Park that day. I wonder if any members from those days are still active in the club.
  8. I've had very good luck with Goo Gone. It smells good too. :lick:
  9. If you have haven't done so yet. It should be required reading http://www.sportscarmarket.com/Cart/products/books/how-to-restore-your-datsun-z.html
  10. The paint look good from I can see. I have to admit this part of a restoration process is the most satisfying and yet the scariest for me. The fun part is putting the bumpers, trim etc… back on a newly painted car knowing that you are nearing completion. The worrisome aspect is hoping you don’t ding or scratch anything in the process. Take your time and cherish this phase of your car’s renaissance.
  11. http://www.mrgusa.com/pdfs/73flatnut.pdf You should be able to get them at your local auto parts or hardware store too.
  12. Weren’t you the guy that dragged me up Figueroa Mountain road in near 100 degree heat on a bicycle ride last month? Cheers! Ed The guy who can't draft to save his life
  13. Nice to see another Z guy from Lompoc on the forum. Have we met?
  14. This should be your first stop: http://zhome.com/ Enjoy!
  15. I’ve always lusted:love: after the Toyota 2000GT convertible that was featured in the Bond film You Only Live Twice. If I’m not mistaken, this looks like a body kit on top of a Mazda Miata. Am I mistaken? If not, does anyone have information on this kit?

  17. Growing up, my Dad was into restoring 1964 1/2-1968 Mustangs. Every time he’d go out to look at one for sale, he would bring and empty coffee can, fill it with water and pour it into the cowl vents. There were many times when you would open the door to reveal water soaked front carpets. I recall, this was a very expensive repair involving removal of the front fender and cutting into the cowl from the side to perform the rust repair. In fact, this problem was so common enough that you could purchase a Plexiglas cover you would attach to the cowl and screw into place to stop water from getting in.
  18. 1988 Honda Magna (sunny day gas saver) 2002 GMC Sonoma (my daily commuter) 1993 Toyota MR2 (scratches the sports car itch while the 240Z gets restored) 2002 Saturn L300 (wife's daily commuter)
  19. Has anyone thought about going this route? http://www.cvvacuumplaters.com/exterior_parts.htm I wonder how their prices are. It would be nice to have them replate the tail light trim and chrome AC vents.
  20. AZ-240z, Thanks for pointing this out. That car has been on the selling block for a few years now.
  21. I wish I knew what became of this gem: http://home.comcast.net/~datsun-240z/ Also, if Burt Diamond’s low mileage ’71 ever sold and for how much. Knowing the selling price of both cars would be a good barometer on what market is willing to pay for prime specimens.
  22. If you do a search on "Dashboard Restorations " you will find a bunch of threads on this very subject along with dash cap opinions too.
  23. Kent, You may want to contact this club. http://www.geocities.com/eizcc/ They may have some members that live in the center of the state that can help you.
  24. I recently converted from R12 to Freeze12 on my 1993 Toyota MR2. I bought a kit on ebay and paid $40.00 for a shop to purge the remaining R12 and replace it with Freeze12. So far no complaints.
  25. Wow...this is a real shocker! He knew his stuff and wasn't one to back down from a good argument. I respected that a lot. Peace be with you, Carl.
