But I'll just drive down and spend the day.
  3. for the Best Pose with a Z Car Contest! http://www.classiczcars.com/modules.php?name=News&file=showarticle&threadid=20466
  4. Although not as $$$ as your toys, I too have a couple of other vehicles that take up my time. That said, I did put the battery back in my Z and let it run for 30 minutes today.
  5. I have used this stuff for years to cover tool handles and restore spark plug jackets. It comes in an aerosol spray in a variety of colors. http://www.plastidip.com/
  6. If so, thank goodness it has changed hands.:tapemouth
  7. 90% of the paint on my car is original. I did discover some overspray on the rubber under the drivers door handle, which makes be believe the door was touched up. Overall the paint is in great shape due to the low mileage and always being garaged. However, there a lot of dings on the body from being abused by other cars and being bumped into while it sat in the garage:cry:
  8. I think I'm old enough, but don't ever recall ever watching that cartoon. I moved to Lompoc via Colorado back in '93 (Air Force), so I'm not a native of the 'poc. I actually grew up in Hawaii.:classic:
  9. There's a guy in my area that has a mobile auto detailing business. I saw him one day at a local parking lot detailing some cars and took down his phone number. I called him a few months later and scheduled a home visit. I put my Z on jackstands, removed the wheels and he spent the better part of an hour and a half steam pressure washing my engine bay, wheel wells and undercarriage. I recall paying him about $70.00 for this labor. He was using something like this: Nice toy to have for all kinds of cleaning jobs
  10. I tooks this shot before I had the engine steam cleaned. I circled my inspection bumper locations in yellow. I believe the placement is correct...given the car hasn't been repainted (yet).
  11. That's the same switch, mounted in the same location as my aftermarket "frigette" A/C I removed a couple of years ago. I did keep some of the paperwork. Check you those labor charges circa 1972!!!
  12. Is the canister you're talking about look like what I circled in RED below?
  13. My understanding is that optional factory installed A/C was only available on the 1974 260Z and later models. Where is the on/off/temperature knob located? Is it under the dash next to the trip meter reset knob or mounted on the console next to your right leg?
  14. Well if it’s illegal and money can be made from it, I’m sure people are doing it. This is probably the case when dealing with higher end or collectable vehicles.

  16. There is part of that is glad the 240Z remains affordable and out of the spotlight. Our cars are special, and yet still remain within reach of us mere mortals neither able nor willing to spend the equivalent of a small single family home on a muscle car. Yup… sometimes remaining in the shadows is a good thing.
  17. would put production at between 9/71-6/72.
  18. I read somewhere that Chrysler Blue is the closest match to the Datsun/Nissan engine color of the period.
  19. Found this using the "search" feature. This might help. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13085&highlight=MSD+Ignition+installation
  20. Welcome! Go to http://zhome.com/ and look at the 'Z Ownership' section.
  21. FWIW...my orange (color code 918) '72 has sections of its radiator support painted black too. Also, while thumbing through Wick Humble's book tonight, I also noticed there are photos where it shows the radiator support painted black on his dark green project car as well.
  22. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12173&highlight=gold+award+240z It looks like a really nice car! Just as nice as a certain silver 1971 240z that is back on eBay again.
  23. Hi onuthin, Back around June 2002, I spoke to the PO of the car. I wish I could give you more details, but I was looking at a lot of 240Z's at the time, and may get my facts regarding your car mixed up with the others. I ended up purchasing my current '72 orange Z from a guy in Kansas. This red car was going to be my fall back purchase if the deal for the orange Z fell through.
  24. This picture is from the driver's shoulder belt, which has survived in the best of shape compared to the others.
  25. I purchased a whole set from exhaust manifold back from http://www.courtesyparts.com about a year ago. The attached photo shows my old trashed muffler compared to the OEM replacement. Note the slight difference in the length and style of the chrome tip.
