  1. The Captain's job is too point out the Obvious. That's what he gets paid to do He is very good at his job!
  2. I followed him a week ago to put him in some new flair. I checked in one morning and got the persistent badge I think. It was for being on everyday for a straight week. This is fun for me right now, working on cars don't last when you do it right so this is another way to get on classiczcars.com everyday. I can be helpful about 99.9% of the time then that 1% pops up every 5 or so years. I like feeding the good wolf inside, not the viscous one.
  3. I wouldn't use silicone. It can cause painting problems later How about making a thin piece of stainless sheeting. The thinner the better. Make it the same exact dimensions as the vent grill with the two holes. Get some black seam sealer and affix the stainless to the top side of the hatch and then use a little seam sealer to mount the vent grill down. Excess seam sealer can be wiped off with lacquer thinner before it cures. Down properly, the seam sealer should seal everything up nicely
  4. As am learning language... you ofcourse meant: Vicious wolf.. 😁 A viscous wolf would be a mess.. 😉
  5. That's exactly what I'm saying!! Someone had to do it!
  6. Haha!! I just checked Patcon and he's still doesn't have "well followed". Maybe there needs to be ten followers added AFTER the forum update? The previous followers might not count towards the total? And for me... I don't remember when I started trying to log in every day, but I don't think it's even been a week yet. I'm not ready to call in tech support for me. In any event, this is just mindless entertainment.
  7. Attitude aside, seems like the real nice one's are not selling for their perceived worth. If it does sell, I will publicly eat crow! Edit: Oh sheet, I just noticed it is yours! I'm praying for ya buddy. Hope i eat crow!
  8. I don't have any concrete suggestions on how to block off the vents, but I do believe that most Z's are leaky enough that blocking the vents off won't do much to mess with the ventilation system. Of course, that could just be mine...
  9. Done deal!! Looking forward to it! And if someone else brings it up, try this... "I'm simply PRACTICING on the areas that don't show, so that by the time I get to the ones that DO show, I'll have it down pat."
  10. Mine technically runs. I drove it earlier this year and backed it into my garage. Summer here in AZ was way too hot to drive it with no A/C and I just haven't had the time to take care of a few things it needs before I drive it now that the weather is perfect. For those who remember, it's in my golf cart garage which has right around 1" of clearance on either side between the garage opening and the body of the Z. The car hauler that transported it here from MI broke the driver's side mirror off, so it has no side mirrors. I just bought an OE LH mirror from Fixitman, so when that shows up I will figure out if my car will still go through the garage door with one side mirror. I see no hope of mounting two door mirrors. If even one mirror doesn't fit, I might have to modify my garage door opening. Next up is mounting my MSA exhaust that has been new in the box for at least five years. I need to make a connector pipe with a braided flex joint to tie the MSA exhaust into my old AZ Z Car 6-1 header.
  11. How long did it take you to clean the seats after feeling something furry there?
  12. Go ahead GRAND MASTER Cliff. Blame it on the flip phone. That works for me!!
  13. Back in 1984 a friend and I went out on the town in my 1972 Z. I dropped him at his place in the wee hours of the morning. Later that morning his wife called me to ask me if I could look in the car for his lost wallet. In my hungover state I had a cursory poke around, but reported that it certainly wasn't there. A few months later I was installing some carpet on the passenger side, and there between the seat and the transmission tunnel was the wallet. It took me a while to get up the nerve to return it, knowing that everything in it (except the small amount of cash that it contained following our bibulous adventure) had already been replaced ...
  14. And I thought it was "DANCES with wolves" and sleeping with cougars. Did I miss a memo?
  15. For the price of a dime I can always turn to you. Great... Now you got that song stuck in my head!
  16. Forgot to say the factory pump is only about 30 GPH. Many people get the Walbro high volume pump and experience noise because it pumps way more fuel than the engine needs or the lines can handle. The 240Z is known for having a small return line also which sometimes makes fuel pressure hard to regulate. Here's a calculator to get you close. That Motorcraft pump is used on their smaller 4.9 liter engine also. The Delphi and Bosch pumps are worth considering too. https://raceworks.com.au/calculators/fuel-pump-calculator/ http://www.kylesconverter.com/flow/liters-per-hour-to-gallons-(us-fluid)-per-hour https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,1988,f-150,4.9l+300cid+l6,1121779,fuel+&+air,fuel+pump,6256 https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=383109&cc=1121779&pt=6256&jsn=1074
  17. I’m aspiring to become Obiwon Kanozee. One day!
  18. Good idea, Patcon, will look into providing that solution!
  19. I’m being shamed. Proclaimed a Grandmaster 1%er with no running car… 🤐 guess I’ve got to put the damned engine in now!
  20. Dude, i'm in my shop right now working on mine (#17770), thinking about listing on BaT too. Maybe next year or two. I see your car as a 100k + car. I hope it does goes there. I do hope the buyers are looking. GL.
  21. Ha! Thanks. Who knows what the market will do over the next few months. I am trying to have reasonable expectations for the sale, all things considered in the world.
  22. Yeah it's been a fun addition to the club... I'll do some more playing around with icons and such as I get time. I believe the Dedicated badge assumes you've logged in for 7 days straight. It may require fully closing your browser to activate each day though. So you may want to try that. I believe the system processes the information every time you log in. So if you want to try logging out and back in again it may update. I just followed Patcon to bump him up to 11 members. Not sure but maybe the algorithm works on greater than 10 followers (he was at 10 exactly). We'll see tomorrow. Mike
  23. Mike, Very nice! I like the rest of the adjusted ranks as well. So now what about that "dedicated" badge for me? I should be almost there, right? Not sure how much longer I can keep this up! And doesn't @Patcon get his "well followed" badge now that he's got ten followers or more?
  24. Well based on that snippet of Married with Children, the titles have all been adjusted... GrandMaster Z in da house!
  25. Maybe not with a better attitude 😀
  26. I'll bet one of your kids could show you how. 😁
  27. OK... I think I understand now. I originally thought this thread was started for the purpose of discussing removing emissions equipment, but, in fact that's not at all why this thread was started. This thread was started simply as a complaint. You're complaining about other people because you don't like their reaction to discussions about removing emissions equipment. You're unhappy with other people's input and you thought it would be a good idea to start a thread to complain about it. So I think I got that much, but I still don't know what year service manual to refer to... What year is your butthurt?
  28. Badges? We don’t need no steenkin’ badges! Besides, I have enough already.
  29. I can struggle with being obsessive. It makes me good at my job, but it can bog my projects down. I keep telling myself I cant see the back of the car from the driver's seat and it doesn't matter. How's that working out? 🙂
  30. So if you're spending that much time on the parts of the car you CAN'T see (once it's put back together), I can just imagine how the parts you CAN see are going to turn out!
  31. Don't know if you saw these...
  32. Today’s mission was to install the rear bumper. Had to drop the tank and got it all bolted up. Left the drip edge on for now. Took it for a spin, and it ran great. Here is a video so you can hear the ZStory Classic Muffler. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  33. But since when has (as mentioned in the BaT comments) the rather slippery concept of a "95+ Point Concours Restoration" become the standard by which a respectably refreshed daily/occasional driver level car should be valued? I don't know about anyone else, but I don't count the hours the work on my cars takes. It's a pleasure I'm happy to pay for when I can afford it. I don't tot up the hours I spend drinking beer, reading books or listening to good music either. I reckon many (most!) of the cars I've owned and sold have been negative equity propositions if judged purely in monetary terms. Well, so what? I enjoyed them when they were enjoyable, and was frustrated by the ones that let me down. That's the hobby. But the narrative from these over-invested grifters is that the only way is up, and they appear to judge the success/failure of ownership on whether they've made more than anyone else by bailing out at the right time. They're not connoisseurs, they're braggards. They don't hype these sales for the love and understanding of the cars.
  34. Sorry to respond so late, and muddy the current thread discussion. Things have been quite overwhelming here, we're trying to dig out. First of all, nice job on the Z so far, and it sounds great! Thank you for your patience with us. The email issues have affected many companies. Places like Yahoo flag a domain as spam, with no explanation, and no recourse. We did send you an email on October 13th (that obviously went to spam or disappeared into cyber-oblivion), that the intake and boot were delayed from the manufacturers, and that we would ship it all together when all items arrived. So our apologies as we should have followed up with you when we didn't see an email reply. Sorry about that. It is definitely something Greg is working on as we get new sales team members up to speed, and hopefully (soon) find a few more, so they aren't overwhelmed all day long. We have also recently been trying to call, in addition to sending emails, which can be tricky as many don't want to be bothered with phone calls. Unfortunately we're still waiting for the other items you ordered. Just call our sales team anytime for the latest we've heard from the manufacturers (side note: Your most recent order left yesterday, just in case you're not getting the tracking emails either. If you didn't, if you can help us out, please check your spam folder and let me know if our emails aren't in there). As far as successfully getting out of our old systems and into new ones where inventory can be shown, that has been the most difficult of all, a long story, and that one is on me. I will say that we have what we hope is a great new company working on things now, and are very hopeful that they can get it all figured out relatively soon. Thank you for all of your orders, kind words, and for having mercy on us.
  35. I also highly recommend installing the headlight wiring upgrade with the relays. This will limit the voltage into your cabin at a lower amperage. It's great for older wiring and this harness uses your existing connectors (without cutting or splicing). https://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic10d23/12-4651
  36. Here are a few of the professional shots from yesterday's events
  37. This restoration is truly a benchmark. I have to be honest, when I do work on my 73, your car is in my mind. In no way can I be mistaken for a fabricator or restorer, but I have some skills that allow me to do this all the while making mistakes and then correcting them. I'm now at the point of having fun with my restoration, instead of yelling obesities, turning the lights off and stomping off for a beer. I have told my wife on many occasions, that I dont know what the hell I'm doing, but I still go back out there and try. You have inspired me with this build. I acquired another 240 that will need some restoration, and the more I learn from OJT and people like you, it only brings smiles. Thanks so much for sharing.
  38. Sorry, somehow the video dropped off the thread. Here it is again. Just put the propeller shaft back on and about to fill the transmission. She might move on her on power vs my back today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  39. Cliff, I get your position but I’m not driving it yet because I’ve still got work to do. Welding the floor patches, rear suspension and my latest problem. I decided to put 5 gallon of fresh gas in the tank yesterday and woke up this AM and the garage was full of gas fumes. So bad you could smell it in the master bath above the garage. The tank is leaking where the two metal hoses exit the tank, one goes to the pump and the other is the return line. I thought stopped it with JB weld but that didn’t hold. I also had rust particles in my pre-filter. Bottom line the tank needs to come out and be replaced or repaired, I had this tank boiled and sealed two years ago but it appears to not be working as advertised. I’d prefer the the flat deck for for a few reasons. You get more space, there is better options to mount speakers back there if I do that. You can get a nice mat back there. Haven’t seen any that fit the slopped deck and I think it’s a cleaner look. But you might be correct and the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. Also if it’s a lot of work requiring metal cutting then you are probably correct.
