  1. Welcome newbie. What type/year Z are you interested in? Dennis
  2. Are the lenses made with holes to allow use/mounting of the chrome trim strips? Dennis
  3. It's the one I saw on Velocity a few days ago. They sometimes, very rarely, substitute a show and don't change the listing. When I saw it, I clicked on the on-screen info to see what it was and noted that a different show was listed. Dennis
  4. Yes, it's belt driven. When they go bad, they are often removed by owners rather than replaced. No power steering on the early Zs. Dennis
  5. Time to start learning about Zs. The part you removed and called a power steering pump was most likely the SMOG pump - unless you took off the alternator or an A/C compressor. Get a Haynes manual for the Z. It seems like you may be in over your head with your new 42 year old car. Dennis
  6. Welcome to the group! What's the build date on your '71? Dennis
  7. Looks like you found it. Mystery solved. Dennis
  8. No idea of the name and I'm unable to access yesterday's TV schedule on line. I looked to see if it would be on next week, but nothing listed. A mystery. Time to dig up a copy of TV Guide to see if it's listed. Dennis
  9. I saw it. It was on Velocity. Also showed a large collection of European collector cars in Japan. I'm watching waaayyyy too much TV as I recover from a broken collar bone. Can't wait to drive again. Dennis
  10. I don't think that boat's going to sail. If you stop to think about why people originally bought a Z, it wasn't so they could carry three friends along for the ride. The 2+2 filled a need, but at a cost as you noted above. The two seater is the one with demand. I doubt that there were any high school kids drawing Datsun 2+2 sketches on their notebook covers during Social Studies class back in the 1970s. Opinions may vary. :classic: Dennis
  11. Do it! Got mine from MSA. There are lots of threads on the topic if you search the forum for"air conditioning kits". Dennis
  12. You probably summed it up nicely, although I'm sure there are more than a few 2+2 owners who would disagree. As for any collectible value of any Z that doesn't have a famous previous owner or stellar race pedigree, don't plan on it as part of a retirement portfolio. Enjoy the Z for what it is and continue to pour more money into it than it wii ever return. Works for me for the last 42 years. Dennis
  13. Which one - vertical antenna rocker switch or L/R switch? Dennis
  14. Nice job! Ready for mass production? Dennis
  15. Looks like it's held together by the paint. But, there must be some good vintage plastic bits and pieces under the hood and inside. Dennis
  16. Same as mine....4/71 build date.
  17. If they fit as well as they look, I'm in for a pair. Nice job on a long needed part! Dennis
  18. Are you saying that TV and the internet are NOT reliable sources of accurate information? Unfortunately, there's an entire generation that believes they are. Dennis
  19. 40 mpg and it does stunts, too? From the sellers description, it sounds like the only "stunt" it will do is "sit". Dennis
  20. Thread on this topic was started earlier in the week: VIDEO: Dare to be Different in a Datsun 240Z Dennis
  21. Covercraft brand is quite good and fits well. I've used them on my cars for over 30 years. Dennis
  22. ****'s wife seemed enthralled by the story he told in the video. Think she had heard it before? Dennis
  23. They seem to be readily available in England. Looking for somewhere to store your SPAM? Dennis
  24. Filling the floor holes with Bondo is not the best idea. The $600 sounds a little pricey. Did he give you a price prior to doing the work? Dennis
