  1. Looks like a comprehensive project. How's the interior? Always good to see another '71 getting some TLC. Dennis
  2. Go to HybridZ and type "black dragon bumpers" into the search box. There's a thread there with pictures and discussion. Dennis
  3. Gotta love the Foehn winds. I live at the base of an 11,000 foot mountain. Currently: 83º & Sunny Dennis
  4. Just saw the local five day forecast and it will be 87 degrees here on Valentines day. Probably about 92 with the wind chill. Dennis
  5. Have you checked the back/inside of the fenders and hatch to see where the holes were before they were filled. Although it's now too late, the best thing would have been to sand the areas to metal before painting in order to see where the holes were. Dennis
  6. Sound advice. Buy in haste, repent in leisure. Dennis
  7. The Eastwood coating sounds like the budget way to go, in that case. Post some pictures when you're done with whatever process you end up using. Dennis
  8. Keep the hood closed, don't worry about it, and enjoy the ride Dennis
  9. Great looking Z! Always good to hear from another original owner. Dennis
  10. Snow!?!?!? What is this thing you call snow and why is it on your car? Here in the desert, it's 68º and sunny. Glad to see the "Over 60" crowd adding to this thread. Dennis
  11. Web site says "Out of Stock". Status? Dennis
  12. Triple pulley to accommodate A/C? Dennis
  13. I probably agree, but that " Kitchen Sale Burnley" message that's been open on the list for the last 17 hours is calling out to me. Dennis
  14. If you can live within their ever changing policies, ebay works. I've sold car items there for over a decade. They do seem to like to throttle down the sellers, however, and enable buyers to call the shots in many cases. Dennis
  15. A double digit VIN is probably worth trying to save. As others have mentioned, do as much of the work yourself as time permits. If you farm the work out, you probably won't recoup 50¢ on the dollar if you eventually sell in the next 30 years. I'm familiar with at least one rare Porsche being reconstructed around a VIN from a car that was too far gone to rebuild. Something to consider, depending on how you define the soul of a car. Dennis
  16. On behalf of those of us who buy and hoard parts for more than one classic car, I'd like to say....Hello, my name is Dennis and I have bins and shelves of parts for my '71 Z, my '70 Porsche, and my '63 Studebaker Avanti that I may never use, but were way to cool to pass up. I am powerless, but fortunately married to a licensed psychologist. What time's tomorrow's meeting?
  17. Have you done a search for "replace floor pan" or "replace rails" on this site? Lots of info if you look for it. If you click on some of the vendor ads on the site, you'll find pats sources. You may find additional rust under the nice paint. Do you plan to check the car in person or have some check it for Bondo patches that may be covering rust in all the usual place on the body? Dennis
  18. Is there a bigger version that works on Porsche owners? Dennis
  19. Nice Z, nice video. Dennis
  20. As you've noted, you have unique requirements and expectations that you feel preclude the use of the readily available "straight forward kit". There is little to no hassle to use one of the ready made kits available for the Datsun Z from Courtesy or MSA. Custom fabrication to meet your somewhat unique requirements results in "hassle". Have you contacted Vintage Air directly? When you raise the bar, you have to jump a little higher. Dennis
  21. That may be, but I suspect it might be this O'Reilly Auto Parts item: http://tinyurl.com/4pjborm Dennis
  22. Did you try a Google search for "JTR"? Worked for me. Dennis
  23. Hopefully Oiluj can give you some tips on how he did his control panel. Dennis
  24. Now, if you could just can and compress some of that -30º and save it for use in the summer.......... Dennis
