I haven’t installed mine yet. To keep them out of harm’s way, there are other interior projects to get done before they go in. But it’s hard to resist the temptation. Ed Word Curl on facebook has posted pix of his to Z groups, so here’s one to keep you inspired!
  2. No mechanical updates. Life and work have been busy with other projects unfortunately. We're currently replacing the top boards on our deck: exciting... I recently got involved in the growing local z car club so we hosted the year's first "tech day" at our place. Got to see a few other S30s up close and get some ideas for our own.
  3. Lol, we should have a contest to see which state is the last, Alabama vs. Nebraska... We didn't legalize gambling because the old football coach, Tom Osborne, didn't like it. So we send millions of dollars a year over to Iowa, since they have casinos... Tom doesn't like weed either, so we might be the last state... College football is all we have and all that matters here, apparently. And potholes. Not pot, potholes. We have plenty and they mess you up good.

Google "quick and dirty su tuning classiczcars.com" Those holes are on bottom on my '72. That very well could be a problem. The trick I learned from quick and dirty is get the front and rear running equally shitty separately as Phillip so brilliantly describes. He's a wordsmith, explaining methods my dog could understand if he could read and I'm working on that.

It was the type of motor. I said flat head and was wrong.
  7. The Zstory will be night and day compared to that strangled exhaust you have been using, really is a beautiful piece of work that header.

  9. Doesn't it have a replacement engine? I think the original engine comes with the car? Of course, it ran when parked.... The front of the radiator support should be black - brush painted.
  10. Nice car. I just hope we are not seeing an overly exuberant Z car bubble. A just year ago, jaws would have dropped if this sold for even 35K.

I got it all right. But the one about pure, high quality liquid or gas was annoying.

Missed the diesel torque question. Dennis
  13. Man these look so good.
  14. Starting to take the trans apart. Curious if I can getting bearings on and off without a press.
  15. So after some very helpful advice on here I've been starting to crack on with the latest element of the project with our full new exhaust system now here courtesy of Zstory. I still need to have a proper look at it when I get a chance however time hasn't allowed me. On first glance it looks superb though, we've gone all out with the racesport to future proof against my aspirations to build an engine eventually... 2D5651DC-55A7-42E8-8D71-C2A88F4BAF6E by Mark Woodrow, on Flickr E96B71D7-E33F-45F5-AAB9-40D727F14AD2 by Mark Woodrow, on Flickr I started to get a bit ahead of myself this evening now that there's some extra daylight available, belated Crimbo present in the form of an ali low lift motorsport spec trolley jack to help matters along and the car is up in the air to crack on with the project. Whilst its not the high lift that I aspire to own it seems to do the job... All seems to be going pretty well so far having covered all of the bolts in Plus Gas, via a small senior moment I got the carbs off tonight and most of the exhaust unbolted, fingers crossed that progress continues and the weather improves! I should get to it in anger from Thursday onwards.... IMG_9277 by Mark Woodrow, on Flickr 68FAAC5B-80DA-48F6-9DAD-291928760406 by Mark Woodrow, on Flickr IMG_9290 by Mark Woodrow, on Flickr

https://www.copart.com/lot/30360899 Enjoy. They have a BIN of $13,000! It might be rust free, so it could have that going for it. But far from a 13k car. Crack heads!!!

Strange that the PO left the diving board bumper on the front and did such nice custom work to remove the rear bumper.

Thanks Siteunseen. That post is very helpful. In my case, my idle adjustment screws are completely backed off so the linkage does not touch them. The front carb still draws much more air than the rear eve though the idle is backed off. Valves are adjusted and plugs are good.
  19. So what I liked about the “APP” was it was easy, quick and went straight to what I wanted to see “unread posts” and I used it approximately 80% of the time I spent on the site from my iPad or iphone. More detailed work I did on my HP laptop. Today from all of my devises I use a password storage site called “LastPass” that launches the Webpage with my user name and password and requires a thumb print on the iPad and the iPhone. No need to waste your time or money just for me. Keep up good work ps just checked in on the white 72 on BAT: $40K and 7 days to go. Wahoooooo

I would agree if the paint is good. When I saw it the first time it looked like the paint was bad but looking at it a second time it just may be dirty. I mean as a 77 280 owner I want to see prices like that. But lets get real, I just don't think it's reached that mark yet, right?

I missed 2 The confusing question on air circulation Normally aspirated And the octane one In my defense I went through pretty fast ?

There were quite a few flathead (L-head, valves in the block) engines back in the day. I'm most familiar with the Ford flatheads. I don't remember the particular question now but I evidently got it right.

  26. Definitely try to press or tap it out. Maybe you'll get lucky and have it come loose pretty easy. I've made my mounts out of aluminum. Stainless would certainly be stronger and would probably hold a polish longer, but the aluminum is so much easier to work with and it polishes up nice enough for me. Here's an aluminum part before polishing. Stock plastic on top and my version on the bottom with surfaces as machined: And here's a part after a little polishing. As good if not better than the original:
  27. About the only thing you'll find in that range is a parts car. I have seen some really basket cases bring more than that lately. Good luck
