280z 78 Wont idle, Running Rich, out of ideas.
Speaking of valves. You should check yours to see if they're in spec. cold. And try leaving the cold start valve unplugged, they get stuck open and dump fuel in the intake. I guess plugging the fuel hose would be best if it's stuck open. Did you replace the fpr? Seems like you said it was dripping fuel. Good luck.

I've been looking for a project
Seems like MSA sales weather stripping piece by piece? there's also an alternative donor car that works. Can't remember which though, Yugo maybe but it's a junkyard thing you go pull off. It's a Kia car! brain fart with Yugo. Google "kia weather stripping classiczcars.com" there's tons of info on it.

I use a big Oring under my oil cap. I think there's a flimsy gasket under the cold start valve. You could make one from an old cereal box or buy some gasket paper at the parts store. Progress!

78 280Z fuel pump and plumbing questions
I bought one of the last OE Bosch pumps online in 2012, maybe? It was $250 back then. I've seen those Beck Arnleys online for around $350 recently. A friend has a 280 like mine and he bought one. Looks just like my Bosch. The OE ones had some kind of pink Bondo looking goop on the electrical. I used liquid electric tape on mine and it's still in good shape. I changed out my "out of tank filter" a few weeks ago and saw it then. Read this if you haven't yet. Just about everyone on here has one of these. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/fuel/g3filter/index.htm

That's a big hole! Too many car shows? Mine has that too, no threads. I'm going with @87mj idea of manufacturing process on the 240's. Thanks for playing.

Mysterious hole.
Could someone tell me what went in this threaded hole? I don't remember anything up top but it could have been the York's evaporator that was in front of the radiator. Thanks for any replies. Cliff

- Do you recognise this 240Z?
My bad, I told you wrong. It's S key then right click at the same time. Sorry about that but here's what I see. $21,000 car. Lot #14360Seller: gnovmarketingLocation: Fountain Valley, California 92708 https://thebidwatcher.com/auctions/view/92368 https://bangshift.com/general-news/bangshift-question-of-the-day/would-you-rather-datsun-s30-z-car-do-you-like-yours-original-or-extra-spicy/ After googling gnov marketing I found this. Too much bull**it if your having to ask all these questions, like @wheee! said earlier RUN AWAY imho. https://www.bbb.org/us/ca/fountain-valley/profile/online-retailer/gizmo-supply-co-1126-172017668- Do you recognise this 240Z?
To prove the car was mine and in my possession I took a photo of the vin. above the brake booster with that days date. Sold the car, way too cheap! Now I wish he didn't believe me.- Do you recognise this 240Z?
Try a backwards image search and see where all it pops up. That's how I found the scammers that were going to sale my 240 I had listed on craigslist. Arrow on the image, S key and CTRL at the same time. Works on Chrome, unfortunately I'm using my phone.- 240 hub caps
@CanTechZ found about the closest paint I've seen for the hubcaps and the rear finisher panel. Much easier than the paint match in the "how to restore 240Z" book.- Shift lever boot
Okay, took a few minutes to find it but I did. Here's my original early '72, s/n 69,???. As @dutchzcarguy it's vinyl with a leather boot lace to tie it together up top. found an interior...- 1971 240z Refurbish in Denver
The plate on front of the head? That's for inspecting the timing chain I've always thought. Gasket paper would be sufficient for it too, there's no pressure behind it- 280ZX Frame Rails - Any Volunteers?
Sorry gnosez, I don't know squat about frame rails. I thought they were unibody cars without a frame.- Another new Z owner
Looks good! Welcome to Z life. Silver with burgundy? One of my favorite combos.- 240 hub caps
70 and early 71 are D. The rest up until 77 had Zs. Iirc The ones referred to as series 1. The 69 was D I suppose. I'm not familiar with the early cars.- 1972 240Z for sale in Texas
@Av8ferg- 1972 240Z for sale in Texas
That's a nice car and should go quick. Very original it looks to me. Our's are similar. Mine had those bumpers too, they hang from the rafters now though.- Car wont start
Loosen the dizzy and have someone crank over the motor while you rotate the dizzy. Left or right turning should try starting easier. Your spindle is not too far off imho. Good luck!- 280z 78 Wont idle, Running Rich, out of ideas.
Let me play! If idle adjustment does nothing I'd say you have a vacuum leak. Borrow a gauge from a local parts chain and tell us the numbers. https://images.app.goo.gl/Y2DgmnNPhL95LTdg8 - Do you recognise this 240Z?
