Throttle stumbling
But I put mine inside the cabin temporarily so i could turn it while driving. I could make it run cooler on the interstate and flood it completely out like Zed says. I used speaker wire through the firewall and put the knob in passenger's seat.

Throttle stumbling
I played with mine for a week before I found it's sweet spot. Then zip-tied it all up.

Checking correct fuel level at Round Top 3 screw SU CARBS Float bowls
Mine pops a little on deceleration too. What's your timing set at? I think mine is all the way maxed out at 17 degrees at idle and then 34 at 2,500 rpm. That's with the zx distributor.

You can get these Nissan manifold gaskets still. Dealership gets them overnight down here. They have distribution hubs in MS and TX. Here's the part #. Thanks @gwri8

Header question
Maybe n42 block and n47 head? They look round compared to my n42 square port header. You can see the squareness on mine. Sorry i don't have my laptop handy. Look at the pics on msa's website maybe???? Good luck with it.

Header question
They don't look my msa ceramic headers. They won't turn that blue color like your pic. They look like ss to me and if the flange up top is the same thickness as msa's which matches the intake thickness just right I think they look good for $100.

Running lights, tail lights and or dashboard light not working! (Grounding points?)
Did you get 12v on the white/red solder blob? If you have a wire peirceing volt meter you can just check that wire under the steering wheel. Good luck.

Sounds like the exact thing my combo switch did. I went by this, flip those 2 plates now it works like new. Eh, it's a pdf. Here's the link, it's safe to download. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www.kamikazeracing.org/dl/ZTech/Rebuild_240Z_combo_switch.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwj3vYv0oLTpAhVkhuAKHZ86C70QFjAEegQIARAB&usg=AOvVaw1MgWNgBd3yM5WQ0jnGnjgR

Running super lean off idle
I need dramamine to watch the dvd but it is excellent on the info. My favorite is the "quick and dirty" Phillip put together.

The Guppies floor mats
Datsun garage? They look a lot better than my amcos. Six feet of cracked, stiff roof shigles.

Seats: what's considered restored vs redone?
here's a little of what I've read over the years. I agree with Namerow, it's all up to you and your end goal for the car. http://woodworkerb.com/home/datsun-240z-rebuild/seat-rebuild/

Throttle stumbling
Yep, cost me $5 for a Radio Shack volume knob. My '77 would spit and sputter until 2,500 rpm then go vroom vroom. After the Pot tweak it leaves out strong and continues to vroom vroom.

1980 280zx engine knocking
Agree with Zed Head on the rear exhaust leak. Not really a knocking noise as much as a ticking in my experience.

240 LED panels
They used the $300 panels on the 510. Fast forward is great.

240 LED panels
I saw these on a show, maybe Wheeler Dealers? They used them on a blue 510 and it looked good. So I search a little and find some for $331 and $1, 050. What do you guys think? They look like Christmas decorations to me but a lot brighter from the rear so attention getter for the fools that like to tailgate. Maybe I could just get the socket type LEDs, much cheaper. Plenty more important things to do like the Honda wiper and the other Dave Irwin upgrades. Restoration of 71 240z
- Gas Tank restore and POR15
If you're cleaning the tank why would you not get out the things that are in the tank? Makes the whole thing pointless IMHO. I've only done two but you could hear a fly buzzing around in those big empty cans.- Broken something??
You might dig the rest out and put one of these in. 2nd thought. Probably easier to put a smaller one inside the remaining plastic.- Broken something??
280 has a solid plug, plastic. I tried to remove it but after reading I decided to leave it and grease the rack's "teeth" by hand. Here's a few threads to read. https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-americamovil-us-revc&source=android-home&source=hp&ei=K5u5Xr-qHuOm_QbikbT4BQ&q=steering+rack+plastic+plug+classiczcars.com+&oq=steering+rack+plastic+plug+classiczcars.com+&gs_lcp=ChFtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1ocBAMMgUIIRCgATIFCCEQqwI6CAgpEBYQHRAeOgQIKRAKOgIIKToGCCkQFhAeOgUIKRCRAjoFCAAQgwE6AggAOgIILjoFCC4QgwE6CAguEIMBEJMCOgYIABAWEB46BwghEAoQoAE6CAghEBYQHRAeUIQlWLS3AWDfygFoAHAAeACAAesBiAHuIJIBBjQuMjcuMZgBAKABAbABDw&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-hp- 5 Speed Transmission inspection and possible rebuild.
I used those rubber caps and oven cleaning foam, hot water pressure wash to clean mine. Then carried it to a friend who has a transmission shop. He opened it up replaced the seals and said it looked fine. I put it in then filled with Redline MT90. Works great for my jaunts around here.- Gas Tank restore and POR15
Well you gotta get that crap out somehow, right? - Gas Tank restore and POR15
