  1. @David F Feel free to post your experiences here... also Blue chromate helps the parts maintain their corrosion resistance without leaving raw zinc exposed, not need for lacquer...
  2. Go to where the expertise is... Rebello or Datsun Spirit
  3. Did you ever finish all your plating?
  4. I wondered about that. You can overdo the brightener too which will evidently make your plating dull. I haven't seen or figured out a way to determine which side of optimum my brightener level is at currently...
  5. Not MIG'ing them?

I'm glad you came through ok. I was just thinking about hitting you up again... I agree with Jim it just works out, how it works out. Be proud of your wife and accept that you are in a position to help instead of needing help

Three of our five vehicles are salvage, but I rebuilt them myself. If you trust them and you feel like they do good work you should be ok. You could always take the car to your mechanic to look it over... Just remember salvage should be about 80% of blue book...
  8. It's been a year so I am back at it again. I did some plating a week or so ago and the parts are serviceable but not like I have been able to do in the past. The parts were dull and didn't brighten well in the Blue Chromate So I filtered my plating bath today and checked Ph's on all of the tanks. My plating bath is at 4 Which is a little low on Ph so I have to bring that up some. It needs to be between 5.5-6 I wired the plates to shine them up some... Old blue Chromate is 2.5 Yellow chromate is 1.5 My pre-treat pickle is 0.5 New blue is 2.0 but much darker than the old blue, we will see... I added a post plate acid dip to try to brighten my plate but it didn't help much. I also ordered a larger size of blue chromate and made up a fresh tank of blue chromate Unfortunately I was planing on plating next weekend but I left my crock pot of degreaser on for a week!!!! Made lava rock out of that solution. I am not even sure I can get the crockery clean..
  9. I suspect it wasn't that thick 40 years ago...
  10. Not all heat is bad. That is why oil coolers typically have a thermostatic valve to control when they cool. You can actually over cool your oil
  11. Sometimes it seems that way... Enjoy your family! Especially while they are little, it goes by really fast!!!

I just looked at my spare motors. I don't have one...
  13. Jai, I believe he is referring to the other listing here on the forum that is very rusty, not this particular car....

If you can't locate one a hydraulic hose shop might be able to fab one if you can supply or tell them the correct fittings for the ends
  15. Glad you found it. It always makes me nervous to have a major failure and never find a definitive cause
  16. I believe most of the sensor threads are "british pipe thread" - BPT. I beilieve most NPT's can be made to work...
  17. Do you have an O2 sensor or wideband set up? That would help a lot!
  18. It's because they're in Sugar land, Texas., Just West of Houston... Shipping into or out of these areas is gonna be slow for a while. I have found in the last couple of years every vendor says it's shipped when the label is created. I always have to wait a day or so because I can actually track a package... Speaking of that, Has anyone heard from Stephen yet???

That's cool, Bruce and I have been emailing some recently about rebuild kits
  20. Did you get an email notification that Zup mentioned you?
  21. Did the system work before? If it did, I would make it work again. Controlling the fans from the block water temp is a good way to do it...
  22. That's cool I didn't realize that
