  1. To paraphrase Shakespeare, "Heavy is the head that wears the GRANDMASTER crown". 😎 Jingle all the way!
  2. What little people? 😎
  3. My son works for Google and they have loads of badges as well as other tidbits of information, like how may other employees have the same first name.
  4. The folks who produced the VW new Beetle, current Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, Ford Mustang, and Chevrolet Camaro might tend to disagree.
  5. Speaking on behalf of Cliff and all the other 1%ers who have achieved GRANDMASTER status, relax, we'll be in the area all day. You'll know we've left the room when you no longer hear the jingle of our badges. 😎
  6. Cliff, post a picture after you sew them on your driving suit. 😎
  7. Welcome to the group! As mentioned, seats appear to be recovered. There are sources for reasonably priced original style vinyl replacement upholstery which is a good DIY project. Shift knob should be wood - reproductions are available if it's important to you. There are a few AC options and as mentioned, AC on early cars was a dealer installed or aftermarket option. If you want to go "old school" with the AC you'll need a clunky York compressor unit - I did this in 1972. Current kits use a smaller and more efficient rotary unit - I replaced my York system with a rotary in 2007. I live where daily summer temperatures range from 110º to 125º and it cools the Z adequately. A louver unit on the hatch glass is nice for blocking the sun and keeping interior cooler. Keep. us posted on the progress.
  8. I met Bob Bondurant when I attended his driving school in 1992. I wore his driving suit during some track days. At the end of the school session, he spent time with the "students" telling stories and shaking hands. It was a rush and a lasting memory to shake the hand that worked the Cobra gears at Le Mans. Rest in Peace.
  9. Here are a couple links. Scroll through the first to see more on the Griffith where it mentions a lighted opening rear trunk and where the chassis strengthening is located. The second link is an earlier discussion on this forum. http://datsunforum.com/the-datsun-z-as-a-roadster-a-background-and-history/
  10. Nice job with your solution. Another way to do it is to spray the entire emblem and then wipe a pad lightly soaked with paint thinner across the high spots before the paint dries - that's a process I've used in restoring lettering and emblems on vintage metal dealer style license plate frames.
  11. The Colortune will give you a good visual check on what's happening during combustion. When I used to adjust the carbs, I would follow the steps in the shop manual and then check with the Colortune for any final adjustment. No idea if many people still use a Colortune.
  12. If I remember correctly, and there's no guarantee that happens consistently, several years ago someone did record all the measurements and then sent them to a forum member who planned to reproduce inserts to offer to the group. Measurements or a drawing were never shared on the forum and there was a bit of discussion about posting them on the forum when a member was going to the effort and expense of recreating inserts for sale. I also need a new glove box insert for my Z.
  13. Cliff, you underestimate yourself. Your personality (humor) and the Z knowledge you've shared over the years are a couple of the things that keep me logging into this forum. Sounds like you've found your comfort zone.
  14. It looks so easy. Just cut and glue. What could go wrong?
  15. Not a very convincing response from the seller regarding the Photoshopped side view. It's like the old joke about going to the doctor and he says, "You need an operation that will cost $25,000. But, for $200 I can retouch your X-rays." If BaT recommended the photographer as the seller said, he should be removed from the list and the seller should get a refund because of the doubt raised by fake photos in an auction.

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has had a Z stolen. While probably a few of us have had a car stolen (I've had two - a Toyota Camry and a Porsche 914), hearing the details of a stolen Z could be informative.
  17. Way to go Cliff! Thanks for sharing the cathartic moment. We could all use one once in a while. 😎
  18. Sounds like you're on the right road.....enjoy the ride.
  19. Sorry that the Google search didn't work as well for you as it did for me. Good luck with the project!
  20. Have you tried doing a Google search for the parts you need - like "Datsun 280Z brake booster gaskets"? That search will bring up quite a few sources.

Nice find. That plug is an elusive piece. I used to run fog lights on mine, but above and slightly behind the bumper. Too easy to break no matter where mounted.

Very nice interior! I wish my '71 was that clean and tidy. Does the red button on the center console activate the fog lights?

Or maybe open that bar somewhere high in the mountains on the edge of a precipice overlooking a beautiful valley and call it....wait for it...Cliff's. BTW, welcome to the group, Bluez. Nice looking green Z. How's the interior?

Based solely on his astute observation earlier in this topic which parsed screen name and accompanying photo, a promotion to Major Obvious may be appropriate. 😎

After almost 2,000 entries on this topic, and while I haven't read them all, I don't recall seeing any stating anything like, "How could I have been so wrong. Thanks (insert screen name here) for opening my eyes to the truth about COVID." I doubt that many, if any, minds have been changed. I have however seen temper flares, false sense of superiority, and a little bullying. I'm in favor of ending this topic and maybe moving on to politics, religion, and global warming discussions if we really need diversions from the only reason everyone signed on to this forum - The Z.
