  1. Most of the damage related to broken driveshafts and flywheels and such are from high horse power drag racing scenarios. It can be very dangerous is you low quality parts in that situation. The original factory u joints are very high quality. If it's wasn't broke, I wouldn't break it. You might try to grease them though, if possible
  2. Looks like you have the o-ring reverse lock out and the o-ring and seal for the striking rod. While you are at it would be the time to change the o-ring and seal in the speedo adapter. O-ring 32710-14600 (24.00×2.50mm) & Lip seal 32709-14600 (14/16×4.2mm). If you don't buy original, make sure they are from NBR or Viton. Not EPDM. Also: Check all the small springs in the selectors and choose the set with the longest free length/strongest of the two transmissions. Trust me, they DO make a difference. The springs under the synchro detent are also very important. They give the transmission that click snap into gear feel. A lot of people spend a lot of time on the synchro ring and forget theses. Great job on painting the trany housing. Looking good
  3. Boat storage places wrap boats. My brother does his every year for winter storage. Might be a good option but you won’t be able to get in or out of the car and that will be a problem for the trucking company. They typically want a operational car that can driven on and off the ramps. Unless you car is a contours vehicle I wouldn’t worry about it. It will be fine. A few days in the weather won’t hurt it. Sometimes the medication can be worse than the disease. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. All three sold but I’m going to keep one in stock all the time so if you want one, just PM me…
  5. I don't think it's a secret... I was just pointing out that he doesn't physically make them himself. Hence his business will be subject to the slings and arrows that the last few years have brought us all, and - in particular - China's current (re)surge in Covid-19 cases and their rather draconian measures to contain it will have consequences. For example Shanghai, a city of 25 million+ people, has been in lockdown for the past month. This when many other countries and territories have been opening up. There's a domino effect for businesses manufacturing in PRC so communication, manufacturing, shipping (in particular) and distribution will all be negatively affected.
  6. I just noticed that KF Vintage JDM have introduced a few new repair panel items. Two are items for which Z restorers have been waiting a long time to be able to buy over the counter: Dogleg inner repair panel, c/w seat belt anchoring point Rad core replacement kit, c/w top panel, lower crossmember and main vertical panel
  7. It's certainly quite a change from, say, five years ago. At that time, only high-skill restorers were able to deal comfortably with the body rot (in complex areas) that plagues so many fifty-year-old Z's. It's still not a trivial task, but at least the availability of these panels means that high-level metal fab skills aren't so important. I'm surprised that it took this long for someone to recognize the profit potential of the Z repair panel market (served so marginally beforehand by the likes of Tabco) -- huge production numbers, significant rust issues, economical price-to-buy, attractive design, strong owner base. They seem to have timed the market quite nicely. I suppose that the profitability for KF lies in locating their production in a low-labor-cost country like Colombia. Plus, they had a complete playbook already in place, c/o their original business of servicing another popular rust pig, the VW Kombi van.
  8. Yeah, that's not stock for a 73. As I mentioned before, the roadster belts could be installed in such a way that you won't have the belt retractor in the way.
  9. After having just browsed their offerings. I think on my next big Datsun project, I could just order a bunch of metal from them. Maybe, I will finish the car in that Chromate green as a tribute to their products 😉
  10. This link may be cheaper. https://www.ebay.com/itm/154916677637?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28
  11. I improved my search by specifying AGC fuse holder. https://www.delcity.net/store/AGC-Adjustable-Fuse-Holder/p_800425.h_800426 Del City is reputable, and I have purchased from them.
  12. Also, when I changed out the old seatbelts in my 260Z, I bought the roadster style seatbelts from Wesco Performance Products. https://www.wescoperformance.com/nsearch.html?query=roadster I put the retractor at the top mount.
  13. Nissan went to aluminum front covers in later transmissions. That's not an aftermarket piece. Check the nose for wear. The throwout bearing rides on it and if it seizes it can wear a groove in the nose. The hole is a weep hole so that any leakage will exit before it travels down and out the end of the nose over the clutch disc. Like Dave WM said, make sure you find that shim. It's important.
  14. Hi Ryan, So sorry to read of your loss. Allow me to express my deepest sympathies to you and your family. Regards, Racer
  15. With the Yen being so low, buying from Japan is awesome! Fujitsubo or similar can be had at a discount.
  16. KFVintageJDM has been pushing out new panels almost weekly. i saw they now even released a whole damn reproduction rear quarter panel! Something many people have been looking for for a long time! One of the lately released parts are the inner rocker seatbelt mount's. I'm not even sure if i need those, but since they were available, i added them to the package. I got myself a partial firewall. I only need the lower section, which is quite messed up in my car, but thought it might be easier to have something to work with than make it from scratch: As you can see on the left the part that is inside the fender is pretty messed up with various welds, rust, bondo and whatnot, so it's definitely good to have a replacement. More news tomorrow and next week again...
  17. It's Mitty weekend at Road Atlanta. I spent a few minutes with Greg Ira and Scott Hyatt in the paddock after their first qualifying session. Greg was top dog in that session. He may have shown his hand too soon.
  18. I had a mechanic that used remote listening devices like the one on Amazon and he did a great job of finding a rattle with it. I'm a bit surprised that they go for $100 or so as I thought they would be pricier. I was going to just live with all the noises from my Z but this give me a whole lot more I can tinker with.
  19. Current condition picture. New roof is welded in and I have been leading in the corners. I am removing the dash and going to send it off to Just Dashes for repair. I am going to remove all the suspension and sandblast the tub. I am debating on getting a rotisserie or a chasis dolly. I just cant decide how I want to treat the underside of the car. It is in nice condition and could probably be pressure washed and undercoated. I will make that decision later when the car is completely stripped. A little work here a little work there. Kind of jumping around scratching my chin.
  20. If you go with the Stage III .490 lift can, you would need a set of Isky Springs and some .160 to .180 lash pads to geometry the cam…..your engine buider should be able to handle that.
  21. They have much more, some of which may still not show on their website. One I saw pix of recently is the part of the firewall where the brake booster, clutch master cylinder, and steering column all come through...beautiful piece!
  22. Hi Ryan, So very sorry to hear about your Mum and I can sympathise completely with your situation. Unfortunately last year I had a very similar situation: On May 1st 2021 my Mum (who was my Dad's carer) fell over and hit her head very hard against a wall causing a big brain bleed. This lead to an extremely rapid onset of vascular dementia (they said the head injury "uncovered" the underlying dementia) and she died on November 14th. It was a truly dreadful time and experience. When my Dad called me to tell me of my Mum's initial fall I was in the garage preparing to put a new chassis rail on - the car has just sat in exactly the same state as I left it then until now but I think I'm about ready to get back in there. Hope this year picks up for you and looking forward to seeing your progress - it might inspire me! Jon.
