Happy Anniversary!
6 pointsToday marks 49 years of togetherness for the Z and me. A daily driver for 11 years, stored for another 17 years, disassembled and stored in pieces for 10 years, restored over a 2 1/2 year period, and now enjoying its second life for the last 9 years. Pic #2 was taken just before disassembly.6 points

Parts Refurb
4 pointsI have a thread here somewhere where I made the lenses and an extended version for the longer LED. Took me a threw attempts to get the colour density right. Luckely the plating on my inspection lights were in good condition and I only needed the lenses. And to think, these were still availble through Nissan for $120 new in the box until about 4 years ago. Who would have thought we would be where we are now.4 points

3 pointsTwo to make one and some fixes 1. Best lens but with rotted hardware in place. 2. Broken donor with best reflector. 3. Repair to best lens: Forget the hole and thread, epoxy a 3mm screw and secure with a nut and washer on the outside. 4.Best backing with donor reflector ready to go in. 5. Reflector replaced Finished:3 points

3 pointsI did the "Cheap-arse" aluminium tape method to restore my set too. It turned out ok, but no where near the quality of what @jfa.series1 is doing. It takes a lot of time and dedication Some photos of my humble atempt to restore my TS lenses. I also fabricated new brackets to replace the missing ones and welded the set screws in place. Repaired and polished the lenses.3 points

3 pointsCheap-arse alternate----I've successfully used that aluminum air conditioning foil duct tape to cover the reflector. It has adhesive on the back, can be applied as an overlarge strip to the reflector and the excess trimmed with an x-acto knife. Polished with metal polishing compound it has pretty darn good reflectivity, especially if you spray paint the housings white before assembly.3 points

DIY Home Built Vapor Blasting/ Honing Cabinet , wetblasting
Duffy, I took your advice and added a lot more air pressure, as you said, air pressure is everything, blasting now at 120psi. Also got rid of the circulation pump and put my old pool pump into service, works great. I will never sell your design?1 point

They will regret selling that cabinet. It’s a giant pile of trash.1 point

COVID-19
1 pointWe stay at the Miramar Intercontinental along the waterfront., no cabs...we roll in company provided private transportation services. When I left about 10 days ago they only had 9% occupancy at the hotel I bet it is close to 0% now. My question is what do they do with you if you test positive? I brought a tub of Clorox wipes. I’ll spend the first 20 mins sanitizing the entire room and lock myself up for 28 hrs. I need hazardous duty pay! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

1 pointGood luck! Staying in the hotel will be safest bet in Panama. BTW this is a nice place to stay when there: The Westin Playa Bonita Panama. It is far enough from the city. Careful with cabs... they kidnap. Rental car is best.1 point

1 pointNo meaningful updates on the inspection lights topic, the bodies went off to plating a couple of weeks ago and I don't know if the business has been shut down by the virus situation. New lenses are on order from Steve Nix, all the switches have been cleaned and serviced. Today it was back into the attic to get a couple more boxes of the parts hoard down for work. The first box had a set of taillights that look to be in pretty good shape and four license plate lights. The license lights have been completely disassembled for cleaning, plating, painting, ...etc. With any luck I'll be able to realize three complete refurbed units from the parts. No work yet on the taillights. The next box was an assortment of turn signal lights - the verdict is still out on the quality of the contents. I did try to break down one of the assemblies and was faced with the typical rusted tiny screws along the bottom edge. You know... the ones that either wallow out the Phillips head or just snap off. Still, there are some promising looking parts in the box and likely a few sets of complete TS assemblies.1 point
