  1. Received my Zstory muffler, super nice part. Also put the little MSA supplied Datsun center cap badges on for a pop of color.
  2. Me too - for over 50 years. I guess I'm lucky to still be alive. Dennis

Annoying for me because it was so littered with ads and crap that I couldn't even get through it! There were ads on top of some of the answer buttons and I couldn't make them go away. Then the whole thing ground to a halt and restarted. I gave up when it did it a second time. I don't know how many questions there were in total, but I was doing 100% before I frustrated enough that I decided I didn't need something like that to evaluate my automotive prowess. I got better things to do.
  4. I thought it was passengers rear, the farthest from the m/c? I've been doing it wrong! Not a big deal though, it stops.
  5. Well, it does bear some resemblance, but I wish ours was closer to this one, condition-wise. It is white on red and has louvers on the back - I'll give you that. Trying to get closer to that one day by day. New wheels and rubber probably coming soon, so that'll help. Cheers
  6. Best of luck with the brake job, bleeding order is ...... driver rear, pass rear, pass front, and driver front.
  7. So after some very helpful advice on here I've been starting to crack on with the latest element of the project with our full new exhaust system now here courtesy of Zstory. I still need to have a proper look at it when I get a chance however time hasn't allowed me. On first glance it looks superb though, we've gone all out with the racesport to future proof against my aspirations to build an engine eventually... 2D5651DC-55A7-42E8-8D71-C2A88F4BAF6E by Mark Woodrow, on Flickr E96B71D7-E33F-45F5-AAB9-40D727F14AD2 by Mark Woodrow, on Flickr I started to get a bit ahead of myself this evening now that there's some extra daylight available, belated Crimbo present in the form of an ali low lift motorsport spec trolley jack to help matters along and the car is up in the air to crack on with the project. Whilst its not the high lift that I aspire to own it seems to do the job... All seems to be going pretty well so far having covered all of the bolts in Plus Gas, via a small senior moment I got the carbs off tonight and most of the exhaust unbolted, fingers crossed that progress continues and the weather improves! I should get to it in anger from Thursday onwards.... IMG_9277 by Mark Woodrow, on Flickr 68FAAC5B-80DA-48F6-9DAD-291928760406 by Mark Woodrow, on Flickr IMG_9290 by Mark Woodrow, on Flickr
  8. Time for a mini update albeit not too much to report, we managed to keep using the car well into winter before we had to bow out to the salt and grit which was appearing on the roads. Good news is that the car has a new gear knob fitted, its very boring and orginal in style as well as looking far too new for my taste (needs some patina). All that said it has made the gearbox a pleasure to use and shifts much more precise, thanks to Mr Dezart's help we even sourced one with M10 fitment from the states to screw straight onto the quickshifter. Goodbye to my homemade block of oak! The car hasnt turned a wheel in a few weeks but the handbrake needs to be sorted before show season, after a quick investigation on ramps it appears to be the mechanism rather than the cable however I have my concerns over access with the solid diff mount and diff blocking most access. I also had a small mishap while protecting the suspension with ACF 50 when driving onto inspection ramps to raise the car, only one ramp gripped and I managed to drive over one and damage the bottom of the passenger wing which I was fuming about. It now needs some straightening, welding and repainting at some point, I've pulled it back out and touched up with paint but $^!# happens somtimes I guess. Fingers crossed that the handbrake and exhaust will be sorted before show season. Lots of weekends being booked in already. I got paid in Bitcoin for all the test takers.
  12. Here is a good source for new r180 shims. https://parts.eastsidesubaru.com/productSearch.aspx?searchTerm=SHIM-BEARING They have all the sizes.
  13. Just checked the 280 2+2 has a different part number and shows as unavailable. The 240 rear hatch stainless is still available $199 from Nissan dealer (90951-E4100) PS I have a set I took off my 71 I would pass on to someone who wants is.
  14. Good detective work, Terrapin! I recently subscribed to Instagram about a month ago, but I haven't posted anything yet. Right now I just follow family, friends, ski areas where I go and classic cars, etc. ThreePedalCollective is a character, he calls his cars sh**t boxes, even his very expensive Porsche 911s, etc.

Mine was #14. Picturing in my mind an overhead cam with rockers vs a Fiat with the cam on top of the valves. There were several questions that were a bit unclear.

Some older SUs have a fast idle issue when the butterfly shaft bearings are worn and allow air to enter.
  17. Nope but I would own it if I could. I was blown out of the bidding before placing a bid. I love white cars just bought the wife a white XC60. Had an off white 2000 roadster that someone borrowed and didn’t return. Still hope it will show up some day. Ps wouldn’t mine owning that bright colored one who own?
  18. The high bidder perhaps?? I do not have an Instagram account but just googled the name. Looks like a good possibility though. "Three Pedal Collective" http://picdeer.com/threepedalcollective

Annoying because it was misleading. Engines don't need pure high quality fuel. Lots of engines will run on impure low quality fuel.
  20. I just put the jack right under the diff. Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk
  21. Hey Cliff, it's deceptive, the rear brake line on the driver side is actually longer than the passenger side.... who knew

They feel pretty good, too. I’ve spent some time in them just to be sure, and the support and contour are very promising compared to my tired old stock seats.
  23. The Zstory will be night and day compared to that strangled exhaust you have been using, really is a beautiful piece of work that header.
  24. There are factory plates that go between the sway bar bushings and the frame rails. I think they help reinforce the frame rail and spread the loads out
  25. I love the way those seats look!
  26. If it has the original alloy drums on the rear, use caution having them turned. There is a minimum inside diameter for the steel liner, if that is exceeded it can get expensive to replace them. The rear diff is fine, as is the front crossmember. Do not lift the car on the frame rails. If you look along the each sides pinch weld, you can see the factory locations for the scissor jack. Those are safe location to use a jack or shop lift.
  27. I use the rear diff block plate and the front crossmember in the middle Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  28. Here ya go. Color is very consistent.
  29. Thank you for all the tips! We made it back without a hitch! We took all of your recommendations and carefully inspected the Z and also brought tools, spare parts and fluids with us. We were willing to have it transported like some of you mentioned if we had any doubts but it drove really well. The only things we noticed were the following (which we will get to this week hopefully): - Soft suspension - Soft brakes, have to nearly step all the way down on the pedal - The headlight/wiper switch needs to be replaced (Seller gave us back $200 to fix this)'
