  1. I think Captain Obvious characterized some needles on this site. FYI Now that I have a lathe, I am catching up on ideas I have pooled. I am am currently building a needle fabrication machine for making customized needles. I may offer customized needles eventually.
  2. Thank you for the kind words. I've owned six but three is the most at once. With my "too old puppy", he's spoiled BAD, I hardly can work on the two I have now. I didn't get the bug until I joined this forum, I liked how they looked and drove but these guys and gals taught me working on them is the most fun part of owning them. Mine are garage hermits now, driven less and less as their value increases and other drivers have gotten more careless. "Enjoy the ride" has turned to "enjoy the peaceful wrenching".

new plug wires (3rd set ) i like the routing better than over the valve cover. i made some brackets out of aluminum and used zip ties to hold the wires in place
  4. Short story: I gave one to a good friend. He gave it back...
  5. There is a few nice 240Z shots included. The photography of Dennis Gray is fantastic! http://www.sportscardigest.com/hmsa-spring-club-races-2017-report-photos/?awt_l=Mu1p2&awt_m=K1pVIVu7wOs.C0
  6. When you say the numbers don't match, what do you mean? The engine number should match the data plate under the hood that has the engine number on it, not the VIN number....
  7. by the way siteunseen I just check out you 5 z pictures very nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I see you have been busy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. no problem for the doubting .I bought this distributor over 10 years ago from black dragon brand new and it was advertised as zx distributor . then I found out that looking at walter m distributor curve sheet that is has a very high vacuum advance so I plug it up and just timed it at 36 degrees full advance. but somebody on this site years ago informed me that the distributor is for a 1980 280zx automatic car. it came with the e12-80 module all brand new so in my notes I have wrote down 1980 zx auto distributor. I never thought to check the height difference but the 1977 cap and rotor fits fine and works fine. as siteunseen shows in the pictures also thank you for that . the rotors are taller and the cap is taller, but the 280z cap and rotor fits and works great , why the increase in height that Nissan did I do not know why. I always thought the caps and rotors fit from 240 through 280zx but there is the height difference on the zx caps and rotors. it is about 1/2" taller as siteunseen shows in the picture. that made me start checking old stock pulling out buckets of z parts in the shed to find the old caps and rotors, diameter is fine just the height. thanks for the help everbody. learned something today never to old for that kully
  9. The zx cap is taller. IIRC

Thank you for this thread - lots of good ideas. What you did with cable routing is genius and looks great! Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  11. Did you post this same question on Hybridz? Are you sure the distributors are different? You're posting years but not mentioning the matchbox ignition module. Does one have the E12-80 and one not?
  12. New pics and an update - AC confirmed to be dead, compressor is supposedly the issue. Would like to keep stock setup for AC but dont know what is involved. Another topic to research. Pics below...overall looks great but need to decide on interior. Yellowed plastics you see not sure I can get replacements in original colors - think you can still get black? Depending on how vinyl cleanups and what is available...will see. If cannot get the right color trim may match interior to trim. Down the road. Carpetkit was replaced - badly - long ago. Door cars ...overal pretty darn original with only some spots of surface rust to address. Look at that paint shine...interior...we will see.
  13. In the hoard, I found I have a 12-69 rim. It has some rust, as shown in the pics. It is an early rim, so Is it worth $60 shipped?
  14. I have no problem with anyone asking for the best price they can get on eBay. I just thought the whole purpose of offering here first was to allow those who contribute to the community the chance to get it first. As opposed to some random on eBay. Either way good luck with the sale and if you get a good price I hope it helps with your own projects.
  15. Not to long ago i had offered this same valve cover for 250 USD and not a single bite, I had a friend offer me 300 for it 2 days ago. in no rush to sell as i dont need the money and the valve cover was FREE :D. I would buy your 2400 valve cover for what mine is listed at if yours is for sale. the difference between myself and most other people is that im willing to step up and pay vs to be cheap about.. No risk no reward. regards 2fourtyzee
  16. Has your car been lowered? If not, the air dam should work with either 14" or 15" wheels and tires as it's designed for the stock Z. I believe you should have whichever wheels make you feel really good about your Z. That's what all those wheels and aftermarket accessories are all about - making the Z look good in the eye of the beholder and creating 'warm fuzzies" for the owner. Dennis

Greetings all from the depths of central Alberta Canada where we get a max of 5 good driving months and 7 of just obsessing on what you can do to your Z next season l laugh but really its getting expensive and on a city workers salary people beginning to wonder if i have started to slip a little mentally 26k$ deep and no sign of stopping soon , oh and please don't say recognizing you have a problem is the first step in recovery cause now one likes a quitter . i will update pics when its warmed up a bit to many things have change since these pics were taken a 3.1 stroker now resides in that engines place now

Been there, done that. Although I ended up in cuffs...
  19. He called us slow! (Canadian Army guy here)
  20. Also make sure the car can stop! No need to get it on the road and run it off into a ditch because the brakes are shot. Safety first.
  21. Seriously, it's difficult to gauge the condition of most of the components just by photographs. I would look at this thread and do as much of it as you can: After that, you'll need to assess the mechanical components. Look at the date stamps on the tires. There's a good chance they are old and rotten. Examine the body above and below thoroughly. What is your target? What kind of car do you want to end up with? That will drive your budget.
  22. Yes I will post them tomorrow Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  23. Thank you Bonzi Lon and Grannyknot. For reply`s I did find some reviews in the MG world he is well knowed. here is a link http://www.mgexp.com/phorum/read.php?1,1870887 And I also found a SU guy with this link that seem to know what he is doing in NY dont know if hw would work on Datsun carb`s. http://joecurto.com/meet-joe-curto I will post pictures.
  24. Oh yeah, I remember that nightmare they put you through over that engine. I have had ZTherapy do two set of SU's for me now and they were both perfect, couldn't be happier. If you do go with Paltech can you post some pics when you get them back, I would love to see their work. Thanks
  25. They may "fit" but they dont belong on a 7" wheel, 195-225 is the widest I'd go. Use an 8" wheel for a 245. If you look at how Porch GT cars do things, as well as other road raced car setups, dont be supprised to find 275s on an 11" wheel. If you drive a pickup truck with 80 profile tires, then you can be a bit more abusive, but on a low profile tire dont go wider than recommended.
