I recently aquired this because I hate spot welds and I thought it might help out. I found this one at a great deal on Ebay. We will see... Air powered and has a rear lever for applying pressure. Adjustable depth, so you can just drill through the top layer(s)
  2. Had to roll her out of the garage to take a look at the new mirrors.
  3. Don't forget good old ebay, I sold my Z on ebay in the spring and I'm sure I got more for it there then I would have on BaT.
  4. Got the master cylinder swapped over. Now I can move it out for a wash, tomorrow we ride.
  5. Good news. We decided to pass on F1 in Montreal for Austin ZCon.... Double trouble coming at you from NS.
  6. I hope I am wrong for your sake Jerry. I have a set of MK63's for solid rotor for refurb and acquired all the parts for completion, so have a little knowledge to go by.
  7. I think the scam on the CL ads is getting good email address to sell thousand's to some company for spam.
  8. They look the vented to me, why, the shape of the bottom of the pads in the caliper are flat (this is for he vented rotor) in Purcell's post, against Kat's picture of the solid pad, and the groove on the caliper to make room for the disc, again looking at Kat's picture, is wider. Or am I mistaken....
  9. I bought one of those off E-Bay a while ago. I figured for $10, how can I lose. I was pleasantly surprised by the video quality, The one I got could be used with Laptops, Andriod phones/tablets and I-phones/Tablet. They come with little attachable hooks and magnets so you can retrieve those screws & washer that you dropped. Handy little device. Question is. How long before you stuck it down your throat and looked at you teeth, tongue and tonsils? Most guys seem to do that in the first 5 minutes....
  10. did get a chance to meet up with my buddy tonight who is now keeping his 67 Firebird at his house. He had this in HS and has kept it since. Two classic cars getting to know each other on a night out on the town
  11. This is one of the early valve covers I have. I have not had time to clean it up, but wanted to get a picture up. These pictures are deceiving there is no pitting the aluminum is smooth just shows its age and needs some love.
  12. I think you'll find a few other uses for it, too. Could be handy for scoping out the backside of the dash wiring and connections without having to bend your body to fit in the space in front of the seats, looking in an empty gas tank, or finding dropped screws in hard to see spaces. And, if you ever decide to open a colonoscopy clinic, you're good to go. Dennis
  13. I have found and acquired a pair of NOS Sumitomo MK63 4 piston calipers for my 72Z. With a new set of backing plates to modify for update, rebuild kit, and set of Ferodo pads. Although they are NOS one is missing the retainer pin, and I did not see the spring clips that go in front of the brake pad backing plate. I will need to aquire the retainer pin of have one made and I will need a set of Banjo bolts, adapters, and seals. 41128-G0310 41130-B0700 46237-A4600 I would also like to find a set of the spring clips. Any one know where I can find any of these parts??? Now about that rally clock with an oscillator.......
  14. No, no more pine cones but I just realized, the car doesn't smell like mouse wizz anymore! Funny enough, the P/S rear bumper mount was very solid with no rust , just the outside panel metal is a mess, the D/S rear mount I had to remove and build a new one, I was wrong about those pics I took of the seam connecting the roof to the back quarter, that isn't lead solder, it's a steel weld, the lead is gone, it all melted off. In fact I found a puddle of it that had drained down from the two points on the A pillar where is was used, Original vintage Nissan lead solder in an ingot, ebay here I come. Here is a couple of good shots of the line worker's screw up and fix, and I got it up on the rotisserie just before quitting time,
  15. Were you able to find out about the wire you used? Also, did you just use a wire brush? Or did you also use some sort of cleaning agent? Thanks!
  16. Yeah I was reading that when I was getting into Zs it seems like the most reliable option due to the changing in synchro tech. Can you still grab these from Nissan as remanufactured units? Perhaps Courtesy has them..
  17. 280Z's manufactured up until August 76 I believe had the full size spare. Mine has a full size...
  18. From http://xenonzcar.com/s30/files/FSM/1978 280z FSM.zip Section "EC Emission Control System". If you have any unplugged hoses, plug them up.
  19. I'm looking with a phone but it looks like the hose is missing or unplugged. I was told to plug mine when I deleted the egr and bpt valves. It has a nut on the bottom you can turn for adjustment. Try half a turn one way and drive it. If it helps keep going that way, if it makes it worse go back the other way. Google "280z bcdd adjustment" and click "images". You'll see the fsm's directions.
  20. Yesterday actually---- Took advantage of the warmest temperatures for the date in over 100 years to change the rear brake drums on my 73 240Z. Let me tell you a story---- In the frenzy of activity made in preparation for ZCON 2015 in Memphis my paint shop took it upon themselves to paint my suspension. While this would normally be a good thing (and it was) there was just one small detail they overlooked in their zeal. They painted the brake drums black! NOOOooooooo----say it ain't soooo! With no time remaining to reverse this I went on to the show. The blackened brake drums had bugged me ever since but--- as is often the case with such things-- they were relegated to a "back burner" status in the scheme of life. Quite some time back, while musing through the pages of Motorsports (MSA) site, I saw a listing for new aluminum--not steel-- brake drums. Being a stickler for originality, I bookmarked in my mind that someday I should purchase a set of them as they are difficult--- if not near impossible--- to find new. I mentioned my discovery to my very good friend Jim Smirlies @S30Driver (or alternatively Jim2). He opined that "Yes", that would be a nice item to squirrel away for "future proofing". Time passes---- Jim comes to the Zup house frequently and we invited him to share Christmas Day with us for the usual camaraderie of gifting, dinner and football. Kagy (my significant other) handed me a large beautifully wrapped box with a tag which read "Holiday Cheers" that when opened read "To: Jim From: Jim2 "Merry Christmas". Needless to say I was completely blown away! It was a set of those brake drums from Jim. I was absolutely stunned! Such a thoughtful friend! Too much! Fast forward to the record breaking warmth of yesterday------------ Jim and I jacked up the rear of my 73 Z ("Zilver") and removed the offending black drums and installed the pristinely beautiful, raw aluminum silver gift set. While doing so, we gave a good cleaning to the "McGard" lugnuts that Jim2 had tasked Captain Obvious @Captain Obvious to specially modify to fit my American Racing Libre rims. I can report that after 2 years of exhaustive, daily commute, high speed road use and exposure to the harshest of Ozark climactic elements, the "McGard" lugnuts are as nice as day one, and that CO still remains as the provider "nonpareil" of lugnuts. Life is very good at the Zup garage and I am fortunate indeed. Thank you Jim2 and Captain Obvious! You guys are the best! The obligatory photos of these extraordinary acts of friendship and kindness follow: Jim D. "Zup"
  21. Jerry, you can find good one , it is not difficult like finding a mint set of D hub caps or a rally clock with a oscillator. Good luck ! Kats
  22. That's why I keep the guards on.... At one of my shops on base there is a grinder disc stuck in the drywall.... 30' up the wall!! We left it as a reminder...
  23. Yeah but when your under there doing some maintenance, it will be a joy to work on!
