  1. Bad Dog Parts began selling frame rails to Z owners who wanted something stronger to handle the added stress of more HP, autocrossing or track events. The 2016 father-son 240Z team that won their class in the grueling Beijing to Paris race did so with a set of front and optional rears installed by the late John Coffey, Stacey Davis on GearZ TV installed our 280 rails because he wanted the extra strength to handle the supercharged Ford V-8 he was installing and hundreds of Z owners from Alaska to Florida, Sweden to New Zealand, Canada to Norway and Australia to England now run on Bad Dog Parts. So on a long drive last week I began to wonder just how many sets of rails we’ve sold since 2003 and was surprised to learn that Bad Dog Parts is now just thirty (30) sets of 240/260/280 frame rails shy of 2000 sold. To help us get to the 2000 set milestone we decided to offer everyone a discount and two lucky Z owners an opportunity to get Bad Dog Parts for free. Starting February 16th, both our 240/260 frame rails and 280 rails will be discounted 10% off the current selling price of $230 and $244, respectively. The cost for a single 240/260 or 280 rail is half the prices shown above minus the 10% discount. In addition, the set of optional 240 rears made for those of you who have added more HP, drive your Z real hard or just want a stronger chassis will also be discounted 10% . All of our produced parts costs include shipping within the lower 48 States. For those of you outside of the lower 48, we will get a shipping quote and add just the difference between a delivery in the lower 48 to one say in Canada, Germany or Australia, etc. and email you the added amount for your approval before shipping. Bad Dog will keep these prices in place until the 30th set (or 60th individual frame rail piece) is sold. So what about getting my parts for free ? There’s two ways that will happen. As each order comes in they will get a random number assigned from 1 to 60 with folks who order a set getting two numbers. Once all 30 sets are sold a number will be selected at an upcoming Z Car Club of New England gathering and the person with the winning number will have the cost of their frame rails refunded. The second way is when the 60th individual frame rail piece has been sold and the person who placed that order will get a refund back from Bad Dog just like the random number winner but with an added incentive. If say the person who ordered that 60th piece also ordered a set of seat brackets, optional rears, sway bar and jack plates, then the entire cost of that order will be refunded. The total for that order with both the discount and shipping comes to $673 (240 fronts & rear rails - $333, seat brackets -$250, sway bar plates-$35 and single point jack plates- $55). Two people will get free Bad Dog parts and the odds aren’t anything like the lottery where it’s several million to one. You needed the frame rails anyway so why not take a chance on getting them for free. I guess the worst case is that your Z would now be sporting new frame rails. And to all the folks who were order #54 or #1489 and made this possible, we at Bad Dog Parts truly appreciate your patronage and support. Thank-you.
  2. Talked to John at Baddogparts. He gave me a call and we chatted for a while over the phone. Great guy! and very knowledge of course. Talked about various things, went over the stuff I may be possibly making and selling. Talked about the floor rails, said he had no problem with my floor rails, didnt mind if I used his idea for the rear section. His floor rails and mine are different and are for different applications. Told him Id give credit notice on my site if I do sell floor rails for his rear section idea of the rail. Didnt mind my seat brackets either. He suggested tips to me on certain things. Went over how business is doing for him and me (I wont talk about this). Overall he didnt mind me entering the datsun community as a producer vendor. He was very understandable about the situation. Hope to hear from him again.
  3. Couple comments: That throttle speed screw looks like everyone I've ever seen. If that pic is recent, you still have a BCDD. I can see the wire is still connected. I assume you capped the AAR port on the top of the TB? Looks like it's open in the pic. "Eventually your plugs are going to fowl" - What's the matter Colonel Sanders?
  4. I am helping an estate sell a 73 240z. It was owned my Mike Fulkerson of Lexington, KY and he had owned the car since new. It was his baby and was restored to near concours level, actually winning 1st place in his class at Ault park concours in Cincinnati, It is a VERY nice car. I am trying to get an ad together and figure out a value for the car and was hoping some of you would be willing to help. Please let me know what you think and what details and pictures other Z experts would be looking for. Here is a link to all of the pictures I have, in case you're interested. https://goo.gl/photos/W8sbDVoxsPYQBsV76
  5. Just wanted to let everyone on the forum know that registration is now open for ZCON 2017 that is planned for Austin, TX next summer. There is a Super Early Bird special going on right now that will get you excellent pricing. This will expire on January 1, 2017 so if you are planning to come to this great event, now's the time to sign up and take advantage of the super pricing. All of the details on the schedule are also included. See zcon.org for registration and schedule information! Mike.
  6. Not really clear if you're looking to go through the almost new 5 speed or the old 4 speed. Either way, this doesn't answer your question about Michigna or Michigan, but might be worth consideration considering you spent the money on a stroker. You'll have a spare front case. http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/240SX5spd/transmission.htm
  7. From http://xenonzcar.com/s30/files/FSM/1978 280z FSM.zip Section "EC Emission Control System". If you have any unplugged hoses, plug them up.
  8. Wow. Thanks for all the info and encouraging words. I'm still planning on getting it on a lift to take pictures. SteveJ - Very cool that you remembered the car and have pictures of it at the show. I hope you can attest to the condition of the car to anyone that hasn't seen it. I'll look into Bring a Trailer. They picked up a Ferrari I was selling and the comments got out of control. There are a lot of "trolls" on there. I would really like to see the car go to a good home (I'm sure Mike would agree) and not to someone that is just going to try to resell it
  9. Excellent result. Did any more pine cones or dead mice float to the surface? I have a complete set of door hinges off my original '72 if you come up short in your spares pile. The welding/brazing will undoubtedly have been the work of Deiter Roth (aka 'The Z Meister'), who ran a Z service/performance operation similar to Whiteheads out of a shop in north Oshawa. Deiter was one of the founders of the Ontario Z Owners Association and was a pretty fair hand with a wrench or a torch. He was the one who scouted this car for me back in 2007 (it belonged to a former client of his named Steve Tustin). Deiter and his wife were living in Port Hope when I last had contact a few years back.
  10. Short stalk mirrors off and Long stalk mirrors on.
  11. Here are the ones I have from the 2011 ZCON.
  12. Very nice! I fixed your images..
  13. i did the same thing w/my '78 - absolutely love it, wouldn't go back ever. do a search for my threads, pretty much shows everything i did. there's a plug in the firewall below the throttle linkage, i pulled it and drilled a pair of holes (make 'em tight to the cable so it won't leak) and the cables run behind the dash right into the console - easy. i don't recall anything special about the gasket, hold it up to the carb manifold and check. you will need to get yourself a carb bolt kit, i think the carbs use a couple different bolt holes - or maybe my memory is foggy... do it - you'll love it!
  14. Did a lot of cleanup welding and grinding. Got the valance support and horn mounts welded back on! Also removed the AC bottle mount from the shock tower. Also ordered the CXRacing coilovers!
  15. I think I have a few oil cap variations I'll have to dig them out but if they are different to the ones shown here I'll post a photo.
  16. Yes there is a few different variations of the "elephant" oil caps. To my knowledge there isn't crazy demand for any particular type.
  17. Very honourable of you sir!
  18. Wha hoo. I am bringing a new comer who just bought a 280Z to the show. We will be staying locally. I cannot wait to meet all of you. The chance to drive on COTA is worth it all by itself!!
  19. A big thank you to Zup for supplying the OEM clip and spring nut. I have dropped it off and signed the paper work for production work. Once they create 1 I will go inspect it to give the green light on moving forward with the other 99. I am doing a run of 100, clear zinc plated, made of spring steel. It will be 4-5 weeks until I see the first one to inspect. I am hoping to make it to Fastenal and Grainger tomorrow or Friday to see if a spring nut is available that closely matches the OEM that Zup sent me. Once the full run of clips are done I will post up all the details in the Garage Business forum.
  20. Maybe try to chase these down at Whitehead in Toronto: http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/104844-fia-sumitoto-mk63-4-pistons-caliper/?p=1030825
  21. Wishing my friends some love in your lives. Hope this day is SWEET... Jai
  22. I really like those wheels. They first had 16" only if I remember right and I bought my graphite ones around 6 months prior to their Z mail announcing them. I'd like to get some 15" and black satin 240 bumpers from futofab for my '77. Maybe this summer when the grass is greener?
  23. If you feel underneath the throttle body the large cone shapped device is the BCDD. That is gone completely or or are the lines just capped and the wire removed. Funny, I've only seen the philips head in the TB as the adjusment screw. I recall seeing it as a flat head in the FSM though. Have you cleaned the connectors on the CTHS in the thermostat housing? Do the sensor, plug and bullet connectors. I grabbed some emery cloth from ACE hardware and nail files. Then Cleaned with electrical spray. Eventually your plugs are going to fowl, it will be hard to start and performance will suffer if it continues to run rich.
  24. End is in sight? Ummmm.... Not until the cloud clears!!
  25. Peace On Earth, Goodwill To All Enjoy the holidays wherever you are.
  26. Nice work Jim. I would think in Arkansas everyone would have hog-rings.
