Hey everyone, thank you in advance for your help! I bought my first z, 1981 280zx, and trying to get it dialed in and put together right. seems most my vacuum lines are in order although there are a few small discrpincies from the kind of vauge diagram under the hood. Below is one particular line im not certain of. Any help would be greatly appreciated. the first picture is indicating the enlarged area of the second picture

Just bought myself a 1980 280zx. Always wanted one and now that I have the funding to fix one up I decided it was time I went in with the mindset that I am going to have to fix whatever I buy up and this car has its fair share of issues. Any input will be much appreciated! Heres the issues I noticed. Leaking oil, appears to be from the pan gasket but not too sure on that. Power steering is whining; not bad though. Idles rough; 500-600 rpm when cold, owner claimed it was the timing. He did leave it cold before I got there he did not warm it up to hide anything. He seemed to be very straight forward and honest. They also want me to bring the car back when I get her al…

So i bought my first Z, 1981 280zx non turbo. I'm no mechanic, but do know a few things. any and all help is greatly appreciated and please excuse my ignorance certain things. first off, it needs a head gasket. Once it starts (ill get to that), cold, it won't smoke, will idle rough at first but smooth out, although it does idle a little higher (about 1000-1100 rpms) than what i have been reading it should idle at. If the car is allowed to get up to temperature, then shut off for a few minutes, it smokes white and smells like coolant for a bit till what has leaked in while it was off is burned up. If this does not sound accurate to a head gasket, please correct me. I…

I recently bought a this car and to be perfectly frank, it has me stumped. I bought it from a dealership who had aquired it as part of a trade-in for a truck. It's obvious that the person that last worked on it knew what he was doing, but I'm starting to think that he either gave up or died prior to finishing the project; certain things about the car are beautiful! Other things (such as the vacuum system and the in-dash electrical) are nothing short of a nightmare. The car wouldn't pass emmisions just days after I bought it, so I took it back to the dealer to have them fix that issue. Their mechanic claims to have tuned it and replaced the catalytic convertor. They then g…

While driving the 79 I notice a fairly loud whine coming from the rear. I'm assuming it's the diff. I have an 83 Turbo parts car. Will the diff fit? Should I change the shafts as well?

Circled in red. When I pulled one of the vacuum lines off fuel came out of it, making me think it's some sort of fuel pressure regulator --- with a torn diaphragm, perhaps? The vacuum line I'm still looking for a connection to has a red line on it. It's connected to manifold vacuum on the top, its the 4th of the 4 metal vacuum lines in the "pipe gallery," the one closest to the firewall. I can't figure out where the end at the bottom is supposed to connect.

I've got ONE dangling vacuum line and I need someone to tell me where it goes on THEIR Zed. I've got the Nissan Factory Manual, done Internet research, found this: http://www.nissanpartszone.com/components/1980-nissan-280zx_vacuum-piping-223-1388_3.html No help. There is the "pipe gallery" of 4 METAL vacuum lines, runs vertically. I can't figure out where the one CLOSEST to the firewall is supposed to connect AT THE BOTTOM. Everything else APPEARS to be hooked up correctly. Thanks! Wade Nelson Durango, Colorado

I have an '83 280ZXT drive train complete that I'm planning on retrofitting into a '77 280Z. Does anyone here know how to adapt the 280ZXT rear-end into the 280Z? I have so far pulled the complete rear end (diff & stub axles). Will the stub axles connect (via some sort of adapter) to the original 280Z hubs or must I adapt the 280ZXT hubs to the 280Z suspension? Thanks much!
