  1. Johnny, As eluded to above... If you're running carbs, there's no effect when you remove the oil cap when the engine is running. That's only an issue for the fuel injected cars. Carbs could care less.
  2. Haha!! I could possibly be convinced to make more. You know they aren't metric though, right?
  3. Never underestimate the rust of the dark side.
  4. Yeah, I'd avoid the spoons too. From what I've heard, they can make you fat.
  5. They don't filter for squat either. What he said.
  6. Mark, I wouldn't pull the carbs apart to get the old oil out. I just roll paper towels into a narrow cylinder and stick them down into the damper hole to soak up the old oil. Give it a few minutes to sop up the oil and then pull the paper out. Takes two or three rounds of paper wads to get the old stuff out. Taking the pistons out and turning them over to dump the oil out certainly works, but I consider it a risky maneuver with very little gain over just keeping them together and sponging it out instead. Respectively submitted, of course.
  7. So do you think this is an issue on ALL of the carbed Z cars, or is this something specific to yours?
  8. He also said "A man's got to know his limitations."
  9. Looks great. Can't wait hear how it runs!
  10. Like Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn.
  11. Back when I started my degree, they gave the orientation speech... "Shake hands with the students to your right and your left. Because many of those students won't be here come graduation day." As I shook those hands, I was pretty much 100% positive that I was the one that wouldn't make it. What a surprise...
  12. Excellent! Congrats to all involved!!
  13. The video worked OK for me. Cool video. After you fix your rev counter, can you post the next video both in slo-mo and at regular speed with sound? Would be cool to seem them both and might help figure out what's going on.
  14. How about a couple pics of the wavy washers? That would add a lot to the discussion.
  15. Glad you are able to focus now. Life gets in the way whether you really "let it" or not. I'm just back on the radar a couple days ago after a sports injury.
  16. Somewhere I think I read that it was Time to refocus on your Zs. That was about three years ago?
  17. Wow. Lot of changes from that unit to 77. My 77 only has one electrolytic cap. Everything else is film.
  18. I've never vulcanized rubber. Anyone here done that? Is raw un-vulcanized rubber easily available?
  19. Nice pics. Now you just need a set of these. If I remembered your mailing address....... I was only there once. :
  20. The bling is unbelievable!!
  21. jwtaylor. Thanks for checking! munters, Sorry it didn't work!
  22. Glad to help. I thought that might be part of it. So, you could always just give it a try and see if you can get it out. If not, you haven't wasted any work... You'd still have to disconnect that U-joint anyway to get the column out.
  23. Used on the early cars only. Reminds me of a joke... "Hey! This box has crap in it!!!"
  24. Wow... Good question. I don't know. I suspect that very few people even know that bottom portion comes out so easily!
