  1. Does the shaft actually need to be rebuilt??
  2. Yes, 240z Look in my build thread. Lots of pics
  3. Actually the car I have been working on does not have the correct radiator support for the year. I believe it is a 280z support, It seems to fit fine and all the panels line up. There are differences between the years but I still believe the critical dimensions are the same
  4. Many flat top pistons have valve reliefs for this reason. I dont know that forged pistons are really neccessary.
  5. They do vary over the models but I believe the critical dimensions are the same
  6. @Diseazd I would think upping the compression and a better cam would really help. Diseazed would probably endorse the stage 3 cam. The bigger cam with more overlap will help with dynamic compression. I am basing this on the assumption that you don't have to do emissions testing as I have no idea where Canyon country is...
  7. As a radical thought... This is basically a big air pump that blows up. Spark, fuel and air. So you think you have spark and fuel. What about air. Are the intake and exhaust ports on #1 totally clear. Could #1 have ingested a rag or something and be blocking up the intake valve? Just tossing it out there...
  8. Wax it good before it's loaded and wash it when it gets there. You are asking for buffing damage to ship it covered. Also the paint is much less tolerant of damage than fiberglass would be...
  9. Dont mind me, I was on sway bar not mustache bar
  10. I have seen both kinds of bars. Forward and rearward bars. I would think it would depend on what bar you actually have. Did 280's come with factory supplied rear sway bars?
  11. Thats what I was remembering but wasn't sure
  12. I have never heard of annealing steel when working with it. Dirty materials is definitely harder to weld properly. I have done some mig work inverted. When using shield gas you may need to turn it up some and also avoid working in windy conditions, It can cause your shielding gas to disperse
  13. Still straight and flat? I would think it got close to 230d F
  14. Thats a good looking panel. Are you just hammer forming or something else?
  15. 24" overall diameter or 24" wheels w tires added?
  16. Patcon replied to Randalla's topic in Open Discussions
Well 1psi should be more than low enough! I agree, float level is the right place to start

Please elaborate. Fuel regulator? Setting 1??
  18. I assume the remnant on the stand was from the donor part
  19. I believe CGsheen is saying they put gaskets under the spray bar contact points to leave it in place but eliminate flow
  20. If Zed is correct and the 4 speed shares the parts you need. I would try to source a cheap 4 speed and cannibalize it. I wouldn't worry about power handling unless you plan to make some serious upgrades
  21. Is the main shaft the same in the 4 speed?
  22. I believe the 27mm RH thread nut is NLA. There were a few offered here on the site by members that had some machined up Yes on the gutter I think the others are probably right. A lot of damaged parts in that case EuroDat is an excellent source of information on Datsun transmissions especially. I would give his advice a lot of consideration!!
  23. Look through here and see if you can find any pics that'll help
  24. They make tools specifically for finding noises but the reviews are really mixed
