20251008_144110.mp4 We cobbled up some wiring and tested the tach. Now we have to figure out how to integrate it. Most 510's didn't have tachometers
  2. I believe fuel will crystallize. I have a 56 beetle that was left with fuel in it. The bottom of the tank was full of ruby colored amber. Took a chisel to get it out...
  3. Which plastic piece?
  4. The cowl panel should not be removable with fenders on. There is a flange on either end with two large screws threaded into the body. Those screws are under the fenders
  5. What did it bid to on Hagerty?
  6. What a clever little piece! Never heard of that either
  7. There are some clips that go on the cowl to protect the body. Similar to the 240z but a different part number. Can't even find a picture of those datsun 66312-A4900 A good glovebox A dome light for the cargo area of the wagon. They are different than the center domelight. I know I saw one for sale somewhere not that long ago but can't find it now Thanks, Charles
  8. The new flahers fixed the issue. We also connected the brake lights up so the JDM rear taillights are all connected and work properly
  9. No, that is not a common restomod. If you're careful you might be able to salvage the cowl. But it's thin and easily bent. If you destroy it they are not too hard to source A die grinder with a thin cut off wheel is your best bet
  10. Thanks Yes, I have found Zcardepot to be good communicators too.
  11. I wouldn't try to replace gearsets. That may just be me, but it seems like a lot of work for minimal gain. Now if you're tracking the car, that's a different thing
  12. Come to my house Zed! I always have lots of broken stuff to fix! ;)

    That's a nice neat repair
  14. Were the overlays hard to do? Problems with bubbles or wrinkles? Get needles on or off?

Temp choke cables New problem, taller motor means the mechanical throttle linkage won't work I was wondering if the 240z cable conversion would work @KenFirch
  16. You and I are kindred spirits!! I started my build in 2009 I believe. Time goes by fast! You're making good progress. Maybe ready for Zcon 2026?

I know I found one in the past but I don't know where. The rear cargo lamp for the 72 510 wagon 26410-W9600 Does anyone have one or have a link?
  19. The brake booster tool is nice. That's a nice find!
  20. Cats can stop up and restrict the exhaust
  21. Does it have Cats?

Thanks for that. We set the plug #1 position by TDC and the rotor position. So we ended up with that L20 positioning through our methodology by accident
  23. Cody figured out the turn signals today. The signal flasher is a thermal variety even though it looks like an electronic flasher it's not. If we add just one incandescent bulb it flashes as it should. So I ordered some that are electronic with an additional ground. We'll see how they do. He also replaced all the bulbs in the dash gauges with LED's

So status, we figured out how to hot wire the car since we don't have an engine bay harness currently @SteveJ :) We have spark and we have fuel but we couldn't get it to fire. Even with Ether... We have good compression and we have the dizzy on the car on the compression stroke. Although the timing isn't set yet. But rotating it while cranking, we didn't get anything. No bump, no belch, no nothing... Valve adjustment was done recently My only idea at this point is that we flooded the engine with all the cranking time to sort the spark and distributors. Any other ideas??
  25. You should never disassemble both sides at the same time! That way you have an assembled one to look at. If you didn't keep the parts well sorted then the auto adjust might not work. The sides are handed I believe
